Crashing Acrobat Pro and how to re - install

I have Acrobat X on my laptop, Mac OS 10.7.4, downloaded from the CS6 Cloud and also on my desktop Mac, OS 10.5 I think. Both versions crashing or corrupting my pdf files. So, on my laptop, because I couldn't find the 'disable' in the help function (I know now that I need to open a document in order to disable appear in help), I uninstalled Acrobat Pro. However, when I have the Application Manager, it said I already have Acrobat Pro installed. What should I do to have Pro installed new and working properly?
