• Firefox slows down to a crawl while the sync of bookmarks

  Whenever I add, modify, move, or delete a bookmark, Firefox slows down to a crawl for a few seconds, whereas Sync does its thing. I know that Sync is the question because I added the sync icon to the toolbar and see it light up and spin and Firefox is unusable whenever I have change a bookmark. This is probably because I have a ridiculous number of bookmarks: probably in the range of 10-20 000.

  Despite these problems, Sync did a good job of synchronizing bookmarks between my computer and makes it easier for me to finish my work, so I would like to continue using it. My bookmarks file acts as a search engine mini for the things that I found useful/interesting. deletion of bookmarks or using a very stripped down bookmarks file really does not solve my problem here.

  I already googled until exhaustion, and set services.sync.autoconnect to false in: config, but that didn't seem to do anything. This solution might work but is not very handy: http://superuser.com/a/818726/362951

  Is it possible I can turn off Auto-Sync synchronization after each change bookmark? I'd like to be able to synchronize ONLY when I click the 'Sync' button in my toolbar in FF.

  Sync chooses when synchronize based on a combination of the last hour of synchronization and the amount of change that has occurred. You can actually turn off the synchronization (except you can still manually synchronize) by changing these values.

  1. go into "subject: config.

  2. Enter "services.sync.syncInterval" in the search box. It's the amount of time (in 1/1000 of a second) that synchronize waits between synchronizations. If you want to sync never synchronize after a while, change for something big like '999999999999999999999999 '.

  3. Enter "services.sync.syncThreshold" in the search box. It is the amount of change that must take place between synchronizations. 300 represents a bookmark and is also the default, so by default, sync will sync whenever you add a bookmark. If you want to synchronize only after 2 bookmarks, change it to 600, etc.. If you want to never synchronize, also change it for a very large number.

  Note: there is always a possibility sync may synchronize automatically some time, but it is extremely rare.

• Browser taken hostage by the toolbar of malware

  I downloaded software of engraving and a toolbar creeped in called SweetPacks for IE toolbar / it is riddled with ads and aps and slows down my computer to a crawl. I was told that it diverted my Chrome browser, and sometimes Firefox. I use Windows 7 Home Premium. I do not use Explorer. I tried to unintall of my control panel, but it will not disappear. Anyone who is familiar with how to get rid of it? My email is [removed personal information]. Thank you

  A big thank you to my friend. Has taken some time to work with it, but it does the job and saved me a lot of time and $$$. Finally it is out. Now, my advice is to never download free burning software, even if you have a good anti-virus pgm. They can sneak into malware and really mess up your computer. Thanks again for your help. • The toolbar questions

  I have some problems with the Settings toolbar on my iMac and MacBook Pro. First of all, when I click on the box with an arrow pointing upward (extreme right) to add a bookmark, the link used to be saved in bookmarks. Now it jumps immediately to the main toolbar on my iMac, but it records in the bookmarks on the MacBook Pro!

  

  In addition, since reinstalling a new HD on MacBook Pro after a problem with an update, I have somehow this bar (shown on the lower part of the image) which is a "bar close the bar or closed" and can't get rid of it at all.

  Any ideas please?

• EL CAPITAN - when in safari Apple toolbar is not visible

  I tried this and do not find any answer to El Capitan and NOT the FULLSCREEN MODE. When I open safari, NOT full-screen, the Apple toolbar is not visible (the one with wi - fi, Apple, file edit, history etc.). The only thing visible is the bar with red, yellow and green circles. If I click on the safari window in another program, it comes back.

  Most solutions speak to exit full screen, but I'm not in full screen - I have several open small windows (safari, word, etc.) which are all on the desktop at the same time.

  I spent hours looking for this. One solution was to repair permissions, but has no El Capitan - it is built in.

  If anyone has a solution for El Capitan, I would be very grateful.

  Try a reboot.

  Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

  Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in the Preferenes system, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

  Isolate a problem by using a different user account

  If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the United Nations to the Installer application or instructions to uninstall using the developer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  The Yahoo toolbar add-on become disabled in Firefox 43 is a known issue that Mozilla and Yahoo are working on. In this case, you can follow the instructions for advanced users in article module signature in Firefox (toggle the preference xpinstall.signatures.required to false in the configuration of Firefox editor), but this is only a temporary solution that will not work in future versions of Firefox Firefox 44.

• Foxfire keeps blocking my Yahoo toolbar; have reinstalled several times

  How can I keep Foxfire to block my Yahoo toolbar. I reinstalled SEVERAL times, but it keeps blocking as soon as I close Foxfire. I tried all the options listed in the other questions and answers, but they do not solve the problem. Whenever I have download the Yahoo toolbar, Foxfire blocks it ~ ~ ~ and it won't allow me to unlock. I use Foxfire because Yahoo forced me to convert about a year ago, my only reason to be with Foxfire is because he takes care of Yahoo. I don't know it that is the problem, but I am still using Windows XP and I have no intention to move to 7 and more - there are too many problems with them.

• At 2 this morning toolbars; now don't have only one. How to restore the missing toolbar?

  Not very in computing, so here: this morning, I had 2 toolbars or a toolbar of level 2 showing the icons and descriptive captions, I created some time ago. I was the computer off for awhile and when I came back to it only the first toolbar (or level) showed. It have a button, I think, that allows me to add sites to the toolbar, but I can't see this button. I tried some of the suggestions given to others who have asked similar questions, but without success.
