create a database for Oracle FailSafe

Hello
I should create a database and in the next step, install oraclefailsafe to use another server to pass if the first crash. Then I created the SERVER1 database (with all the files on a shared file system).

Now how can we establish the 'same' database on SERVER2?

Thank you.

I'm reading: Oracle® Fail Safe
Concepts and Administration Guide
Version 3.3.3 for Windows
Reference No.. B12070-01
December

But do not see the answer to my question.
Thank you.

Please tell me if my question is clear?

First, Oracle FailSafe is "low availability environment. The number of problems associated with the Services of Cluster MS FailSafe (including errors of the operator or configuration problems) far exceeds number of problems with Oracle running on a single node. Yes, your manager will be able to show the listeners that they perform configuration high availability. But in my experience, this does not work in real life (perhaps because we were not allowed to run Oracle and FailSafe as LocalService, but we had to use domain accounts - this added much more complexity). In any case, my personal experience with this security was bad.

Back to your question... You do not create a database on SERVER2. You only need to install all the necessary software - software for Oracle database and integrated security software (if placed on a shared drive). All services on the server SERVER2 are created automatically when you add your database to the cluster. When your OracleService on SERVER1 crashes (for example - a complete crash of SERVER1 does cause no heartbeat data to write on a quorum disk) then FailSafe will mount disks shared to SERVER2 and start OracleService on SERVER2 (this is why OracleService should be set to manual - must not be started by Windows when the system starts) (, but only when you are prompted by the integrated security service). It's the same database - data online redo logs and control files. So, there is no second database on SERVER2. From the application point of view, a crash of Server1 "is seen" as a very fast server reboot. All connections are interrupted, the database gets bounced.

    I want to start by saying: I went through several forum threads about errors in Protocol TNS, .ora files, installation guides and you name it.  I am new to Oracle 11 g, and I bought the book for a course of database, I don't take in college;  However, I'm not a newbie to technology and I have SQL experience.  My Oracle experience has been a disaster so far, and I am a tester of application by trade! I spent an entire week, just try to get the software installed correctly before finally creating this discussion on your forums.  So I'm sorry to disrupt your forums.  I know that you have 1,000 other subjects with a similar scope, but I have received no help from Oracle and none of the proposed solutions have previously solved my problem.  Let's get to it.

    My system: 6 core AMD, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 16 GB RAM, multiple disk drives, if you need anything else to say.

    I am trying to install software: Oracle 11 g SQL Database Standard Edition (it came with my book SQL Oracle 11 g and I need company for the moment)

    Environment: Windows 2008 Server Virtual Datacenter

    Client VM: VMWare

    Problem in short: when I try to install the software and create a database, everything is successful, until the database Configuration Wizard attempts to finalize the process.  All the prereq check Oracle directories are created and etc.  To the database Configuration Wizard, I always get the following error message:

    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    If I try to launch sqlplus and enter my credentials of the default Oracle, I get the same error (I am basically unable to get to the SQL > screen).  I noticed that I only have a sqlnet.ora file in my folder "OraHome_1/NETWORK/ADMIN", and I have not all listeners or tnsnames file in this directory. The sqlnet.ora file reads as follows:

    sqlnet.ora # Network Configuration file: C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\db_1\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    # This file is actually generated by netca. But if customers can opt for
    # install 'Software Only', this file does not exist and without the native
    authentication #, they will not be able to connect to the database on NT.

    SQLNET. AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)

    NAMES. DIRECTORY_PATH = (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

    I look at my running services and find that I 3 running Oracle services (at this point, I tried to uninstall/reinstall several times, none seems to be a COMPLETE uninstall, while some of these services were not there before...):

    Oracle ORCL VSS Writer Service (started)

    (Disabled) OracleJobSchedulerORCL # I will revive it with no other success

    OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener (on the way)

    I tried to launch another listener using the following cmd command, but I still received the TNS error trying to create a database or connect to sqlplus.

    lsnrctl start LISTENER

    I admit, I am quite sleepy at this point, and I'm not figure this tonight.  I'm not having my hand held through the process, but I could really use some help here.  I understand that my VM disk drive is probably fragmented at this point and I'll probably need to start over from a clean installation of OUR.  I also understand that I keep missing a crucial procedure during initial installation because it is quite obvious that this will not work without the listener or tnsname files.  I tried to interpret the samlples, but an example of the syntax would be really useful.  Also, what users to manually configure these standard files?  It seems that a lot of my trouble could have been avoided if the installation had been easier.  On the contrary, the flame of the fact that I'm more efficient with Microsoft, that the fact that I am new to Oracle.  I could just go to mysql, but I want to give a chance to Oracle.  I just need a nudge in the right direction to get database database server installed.

    I really appreciate any idea that anyone can provide.  I know that you have had other similar subjects historically, but none that I found helped me to this day.  I'm a major network, so I understand that TNS is an Oracle proprietary protocol.  I also understand that the listener is required to actively receive information about this port; I even took down my firewall temporarily to make sure it wasn't a problem.  I even understand that connection strings are needed to associate the database Oracle, Oracle with my Microsoft OS and etc.  What I don't understand, why this was so complicated. Help, please.  I'm just tired of banging my head into the wall on this one.

    Your friend.

    I don't really understand Windows, but I think that you must be connected to the machine as a local administrator and a member of a group ora_dba local, nothing to do with the areas he makes. It is a working example of an account that works:

  • create the database with Oracle Client link

    Hello together,

    on my machine Windows 7 with Oracle Client installed 12.0.1.0, I'm trying to create a database link to a database server, which runs on Oracle Standard Edition1 11.2.0.2.

    When I connect to sqlplus on the client with "sqlplus/nolog" and type the command:

    SQL > create SID of the database link

    connect to the user identified by passwd

    using "tnsnames.ora connection."

    I have a SP2-0640: not connected. OK, it is clear, because I use sqlplus with option/nolog. But client-side normally I have no database, where I can connect. So I think, there is no user, or?

    The database to which I want to connect is located in tnsnames.ora.

    Generally: Is it possible to use the Oracle Client to create a database link? Maybe there's another way to do this?

    A big thank you and best regards,

    David

    You don't seem to understand the concept of a database link.

    A database link connects two databases. Not a client and a database.

    You need to link up in a data source to a target database.

    The only thing you need is a client of sqlplus in sqlplus client, you need to connect to the source database.

    If you can't connect to the source database, you must present the statement to someone.

  • Trial version of database for Oracle on Windows 7

    Hi all

    I am new to oracle and looking for a trial version, so I can learn.
    currently using window 7... I was wondering if Oracle have any version of the trial for the last 11g.
    I did some research and heard that only 9i have a trial version - if so where do I find

    Thank you

    No version of Oracle is certified on Windows 7. 11g R2 will be the first version of Oracle certified on Windows 7. Which is expected some time in the first quarter of 2010. You can (and I have) install 11g R1 on Windows 7, assuming that you ignore the warnings about this being supported. So far, it's worked reasonably well for me, but I wouldn't try to run a system of production on this subject.

    I'm not sure what you mean by a "trial version". All Oracle software is freely downloadable on OTN OTN license. That probably answers regardless of your definition of a "trial license", but you'll want to read by yourself confirm that the license agreement. You are free to download 11g R1 of OTN (choose 'Download' on the main page of the RTO) and install on your Windows 7 machine as long as you accept and respect the OTN license.

  • restore point warranty Vs catdwgrd.sql downgrade for oracle 12 c

    I understand that we have two ways to downgrade (assuming that the compatible parameter is not modified) when upgraded us a 11.2.0.3 database for oracle 12 c.

    I am curious about the benefits of catdwgrd.sql compared to the guarantees of restore point downgrade. I think that the guaranteed restore point seems very simple

    compared to catdwgrd.sql. I also think that oracle brings exactly the database in the same State when we use catdwgrd.sql, while

    guaranteed restore point brings back us to the State.

    Since you have not yet created the database, then Oracle (obviously) can't find the parameter file report and throws this error.

  • Model reusable SQL Oracle to create a DDL/DML Scripts for Oracle database

    Hello

    I have an obligation to set up a model of Oracle SQL to create the Scripts DDL/DML reusable for Oracle databases.
    Only the Oracle DBA will run scripts permissions is not a problem.

    The workflow for any DOF is as follows:-

    (1) new table

    a. check whether the table exists in the views system/admin.
    b. If the table exists then give message "Table exists".
    c. If the table does not exist then run DDL code

    (2) add the column

    a. check if the column exists for a given table of the system/admin views
    b. If the column exists in the specified table.
    B1. backup table.
    B2. ALTER table alter column
    B3. check data or execute convert dml sauvegardΘ to the new change script.
    c. If the column does not exist
    C1. backup table
    C2. ALTER table add column
    C3. Run dml to populate the column with the default value.

    The DML scripts are to populate the base tables with the data required for business operations.

    (3) addition of new line

    a. check if the line exists by comparing the old values of each column with the new values to be added for the new record.
    b. If there is, to give message line is
    c. If not exists, add the new record.

    (4) update existing record (we createtime columns in these tables as well as changes can be tracked)

    a. check if the row exists using the primary key.
    b. If there is.
    B1. off the record by using the "active" column of the table
    B2. Add new record with the necessary changes.
    c. If does not exist, add the new record with the necessary changes.

    Could you please help with some ideas that can get this done with precision?
    I tried several ways, but I am not able to set up something that meets all the requirements.

    Thank you

    If it helps at all. Sometimes we have a requirement for a DDL statement to be rerunable and her only error if something completely unexpected happens.

    It's a little monstrous, but basically, we wrap all DDL in a dynamic statement and capture errors that would indicate that the DDL script has already been run:

    Here's a bit of a model:

    declare
       w_ddl varchar2(32767);
    begin
       begin
          --
          dbms_output.put_line('Creating table TABLE_NAME');

          w_ddl := 'CREATE TABLE MY_SCHEMA.TABLE_NAME

                     ,COLUMN_2  VARCHAR2(10)  NOT NULL
                     ,COLUMN_3  DATE
                    )';
           --
          execute immediate w_ddl;

                raise;
             end if;

    In this way, we can add the DDL statements to the deployment script and run the script again without error to set the database to the State required without having to run the newly created statement only.

    Sometimes this approach translates into a creation followed a statement alter table statement to add a column, but the end result of the script is always the same, and the deployment script can be controlled at source between iterations of development that is without having to restore the ddl changes to test the modified DDL script.

    hope that gives you some ideas.

  • Where to download the sample database for Siebel Innovation Pack delivery Oracle Cloud 2015?

    Hello

    Where to download the example for Siebel Innovation Pack 2015 database?

    I downloaded the complete packages for Siebel Innovation Pack 2015 for Windows 64 - bit Oracle Cloud delivery, but I can't find the sample database installation folder after downloading all available components.

    Please help, thanks.

    Hello

    DB sample installer are no longer available on Oracle Cloud delivery. To get the sample DB, you need to download the Group of hotfixes 5 of Siebel 15 "Patches and updates" section of the portal My Oracle Support (Patch Id: 22081062) and extract the image from the network using SNIC as usual. You may notice that SNIC now offers local ORACLE XE and sample database.

    Also if you select ORACLE XE options while creating the network image and inspect the network image files, you will miss the separate installers. This is because the sample for Oracle XE database Installer is included in the Web Client of Siebel (Mobile/Developer) and the local database setup is included in the Siebel tools.

    So when you run Setup of the Siebel Web Client for the installation of the patch group, you can choose to include the database, which is installed in quiet mode. Please try to install web client and let us know if it gives you the opportunity to choose to include the example database.

    For more details, please visit virtual library:

    Hope this information helps.

  • Oracle cloud virtual image, I was able to create the database using DBCA (virtual image) oracle cloud. I understand with the virtual image, we won't have a lot of tools like on DAAS cloud... But could please at least use us dbconsole?

    On oracle cloud virtual, image I was able to create the database using DBCA (virtual image) oracle cloud. I understand with the virtual image, we won't have a lot of tools like on DAAS cloud. But could please at least use us dbconsole?

    I tried to start dbconsole, and it did not work:

    [oracle@ltutest ~] $ emctl start dbconsole

    OC4J Configuration problem. /U01/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/OC4J/J2EE/OC4J_DBConsole_ltutest.compute-aulatrobeu83140.oraclecloud.internal_ORCL not found.

    According to the oracle help doc center - "creating a database on an instance of virtual image service" (http://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/dbcs_dbaas/CSDBI/GUID-29290A81-8798-4988-848E-77A1BE0CF08A.htm#GUID-4851560B-D4B6-42...)

    database was created with the option as:

    emConfiguration - NONE - storageType FS

    I guess we have to manually configure the em console, but when I tried to create it, he told me that "' Dbcontrol repository already exists." "

    When I try to start it, it exports the error

    [Oracle@ltutest ~] $ emctl start dbconsole

    OC4J Configuration problem. /U01/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/OC4J/J2EE/OC4J_DBConsole_ltutest.compute-aulatrobeu83140.oraclecloud.internal_ORCL not found.

    Could someone could give me help with this problem?

    Thanks Brian. I tried your command, and it works. Now I've encountered another problem, how can I browse the URL?

    I created the access rule for access remote on port 1521 and 1158. but when I try to browse the EM console URL, it does not work. all the configurations that I need to do?

    > ORA-12505, TNS:listener is not currently of SID given in connect descriptor

    How is the * auditor * configured?

    You try to use a SID in the connection descriptor.  The listener listen to this SID?  Check the STATUS of the listener.

  • How to define JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12 c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)

    How to define JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database Release 1 (12.1.0.1) 12 c?

    Here is my setup in the conf\mapViewerConfig.xml:

    < name map_data_source = "mvdemo12".

    jdbc_host = "127.0.0.1".

    jdbc_sid = "orcl12c1".

    jdbc_port = '1522 '.

    jdbc_user = "mvdemo".

    jdbc_password = "7OVl2rJ + hOYxG5T3vKJQb + hW4NPgy9EN.

    jdbc_mode = 'thin '.

    number_of_mappers = '3 '.

    allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi = 'true '.

    Editable = "true" / >

    <!--  ****  -->

    But it does not work.

    After use "sqlplus mvdemo / [email protected]:1522 / pdborcl", it connected to the Oracle 12 c database.

    Anyone know it?

    Thank you

    11.1.1.7.1 use the jdbc_sid syntax, i.e.

    as described in the README file, mypdb1.foo.com

    -Sources of native data (no container) MapViewer can now use the service name of database instead of SID. To provide a db service name, you will use the same attribute of jdbc_sid, but specify the name of the service with double slashes in front, as follows:

    jdbc_host = "foo.com"

    jdbc_sid="//mypdb1.foo.com".

    jdbc_port = '1522 '.

    ... ...

    />

    Use a container_ds to the 11.1.1.7.0.

    that is, instead of using

    jdbc_host = "mydbinstance".

    jdbc_sid = "pdborcl12c".

    jdbc_port = '1522 '.

    jdbc_user = "mytestuser".

    jdbc_password = "m2E7T48U3LfRjKwR0YFETQcjNb4gCMLG8/X0KWjO00Q ="

    jdbc_mode = 'thin '.

    number_of_mappers = "6".

    allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi = "false".

    Editable = "false".

    />

    use

    container_ds = "jdbc/db12c.

    number_of_mappers = "6".

    allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi = "false".

    Editable = "false".

    />

    In my case the Glassfish 3.1.2.2 JDBC connection pool definition has been

    Property

    URL jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbinstance:1522/pdborcl12c.rest_of.service.name

    Uncheck the wrap JDBC objects in advanced Panel, that is, the page properties change JDBC connection advanced pool.

    Add a resource to that newly created JDBC pool

    Use in mapviewerconfig.xml as above
