Create a newsletter printed in Illustrator CS3

I can't afford more software, I have CS3 Web packaging design.  My question; is it possible to create a newsletter 2-3 panel with Illustrator CS3 and if possible, can you point me to a tutorial video/so I can start?

Thank you...

Hello

Thanks for your reply. Illustrator is a very good tool to create a brochure.

I found this tutorial which helps you create a brochure "tri-fold":

  • Illustrator CS3 - Print - output - allow me to select color separations

    Hello

I'm printing for the first time.  The process of preparing should be really simple right?  Separate the layers of color, using Illustrator, then print each layer on transparent sheets.  Well, I'm about to lose my mind.

The image is CMYK, it is a unique spot color (I think) which is red and the contours are black.  The printer is a Canon ix6500.

I can't separate the colors in Illustrator CS3?  Why?  When you select Print > output > Mode > it won't allow me to select the halftone colors.

I tried to solve this problem by selecting the printer > Adobe Postscript and PPD > Canon ix6500 series.  It allows me to select the colors dithered, but then it will not print, it only saves it in PDF format and print such what.

Help, please!  Any advice would be appreciated!  I'm going out of my mind here!

    Hey everybody!

I found the solution! So here are the steps, I hope people out there could benefit from this :-)

This is what worked for me using a Mac and a non-postscript (Canon iX6540), Illustrator CS6 printer, PostScript known as Scribus downloaded software.  My drawing was created in Illustrator and all colors have been Pantone solid coated spot colors.

These are the specifications that must be selected in the print dialog box:

    General

    • Predefined print: custom
    • Printer: Adobe PostScript file
    • PPD: Lisanet PDFwriter

    Output

    • Mode: Separations (host-based)
    • Ink Options panel can present spot colors that appear in your design.

Then you save it :-)  This will save as a PostScript file.  To open it, you will need a software PostScript.  One who seems to have done the trick is to Scribus.

Thanks for any help at all!  Entry everyone ends by helped me to find the solution!

  • Illustrator CS3 is what I use.  I can't select only the work of export in JPG or PNG format.  When I do, it exports the entire workspace.  I want just the artwork in a jpg file.  What are the instruction sets to convert only the number of art work

Can someone tell me how to export my object of works of art in a PNG or JPG?  I get the whole workspace saves when I export.    I want to export a label to another program to print and the entire workspace is in the JPG, including not only art, I want to, but something else that is located on the workspace.       How can I simply isolate the object I want to export and convert? Randy,

You can create a rectangle the size of the work and the object > crop area > make, then save for Web.

Or you can use the crop box tool, see the documentation or here.

  • Place a png logo created in Fireworks cs5 in Illustrator cs5

I'm trying to put a logo in illustrator. When I do it looks fine, but any kind of scakeing makes it look pixelated all. I'm reducing to lay on a business card. When I do looks just fine while the second logo (for most of the test) looks great and completely scalable. Is the somehting I'm doing wrong. I tried to copy and paste, p [lacing and open in illustrator.] I tried using all the file formats and theyall do the same thing. My friend asks an ESP file that I can give, but I want to do that it will come out just before taking it to its printers. Help, please! Mahalo

Fireworks is intended for web work, as is PNG. Graduates of fireworks, filters, etc., do not directly translate to their counterparts of the Illustrator. (Similar issues exist between I and Flash). Everything simply because the two programs provide refills of grad, which does not necessarily mean that actual construction of filling a graduate program is interpreted by the other. For example: any version of Illustrator knows diddly on a gradient of "cone".

That's why, if you save vector Flash content as legacy-version (8), you will get basic traced and text objects. But, fills and effects will result not reliable because Illustrator doesn't understand them.

On the other hand, assuming that your content graphics card suitable for raster imaging, and then using the raster PNG should not be problematic if the scaling of a PPI suitable for printing, and color accuracy is not critical. You said you're downscaling PNG, do not them, upscaling, so visible irregularities should not be a problem. But the little pixelated text is never a good idea.

EPS will fix it for you. SPE is not a quick fix to anything; It is simply a code "envelope" in which objects that are undestood by PostScript devices so that it can be "passed through" programs that do not include PostScript is written. Save the file as EPS does not go better able, or improve magically of objects that have been translated from Fireworks into objects Illustrator objects. Today, the EPS must be avoided in any case, unless your workflow has some compelling reason for it, such as the need to import into a program that cannot contain PDF as an image spot.

You are simply the coup against thorns. Use a program focused on printing by design for printing. When it comes to work for commercial printing, if for some reason, you feel you have to design in Fireworks, and then think in terms of content, which will be completely rasterized (to PNG or TIFF or other) when design is complete. But if you want to print vector illustrations, Fireworks is not where it should be created.

You have not really well described the workflow or its content. You just mentioned "logo". Is not any that say something, on what types of items are involved. In a correct application of the 'logo' of the word you would not modify the content. If the content of the 'logo' can be translated to Illustrator objects reliably, then it should simply be rasterized in its entirety. If you are free to re - build, then you could rasterize the work that is appropriate for the rendering of frame in TIFF format, import the TIFF format in Illustrator and recreate objects text and/or vector fills and effects that need to survive the trip to a print workflow.

  • Cannot print this illustration

Good, first time in the years of the donkey, I had this "Cannot print the illustration" window - new suite CS5, computer brand new - 4 days old (Dell, 36 bit - would prefer a Mac but there you go).

History - file packaging large format - 600 mm x 1200 mm. line drawings. Black and a spot (Pantone) color only. Work necessary to the original English language-converted Chinese. This must be done on an old 'Chinese' PC in Illustrator 4 with Chinese fonts correct. But after that the translator has done its job, I had to go back to CS5 on the Dell to make changes. Chinese fonts converted to outlines for the transfer. Once alterations done, tried to print and got the beast cannot print message.

Dell fine prints in PDF format.

    Dell fine prints to JPEG.

prints fine old form 'Chinese' PC in Illustrator 4 format is indicated fonts or fonts.

have had no problems, nothing else in CS5, just what a print job.

The only thing I can think is that there was a problem when converting the police Chinese contours there were too many points created and Illustrator or the printer cracked irritate him.

Any help on how I can work on how to solve this problem.

.. .well I use Mac/PC and Adobe all programs for over 25 years, I HATE trying to figure out this kind of thing and you would simply prefer to be an end-user, without trying to understand why a perfectly reasonable request is odd.

    Thanks in advance.

What happens when you open the same file copy paste into a new document in CS5?

  • Even the mapping on an object 3d in Illustrator CS3

Having a little bit of a problem here - I created illustrations for a display and, to illustrate this point, I am doing 3 comp in illustrator CS3.

I created a descendant of the shape of the object that I then extrude and map image to-this is where the problem arises. Illustrator seems "bouquet" the image mapped around the points where the curves are more crowded (probably due to the increase of the vertices it) instead of mapping evenly around the surface. This causes a rather undesirable distortion of the image that ruins the effect!

Can someone tell me a way to avoid this?

    Thank you very much!

Horizontal distortion is due to the anchorPoints curve handles to define the surface.

Yepp, exactly. Unequal intermediate nodes on the spline... To HAVE it bad has no tools to 'Rebuild curves' as ca or 3D programs. Will arrange in a little.

  • Illustrator CS3 incorrect impression

    Hello

First of all, I should probably clarify that I am not a professional graphic artist/printer.  I am a graduate student of architecture that has an Epson R1800.  Photoshop CS3 printing seems to work very well and I'm getting a reasonable representation of colors (after configuring proof, turn off the OS X color controls, etc.).  If I try to Illustrator (and InDesign) I get very poor quality prints.  In Illustrator, so that I have my proof set up my Epson paper I use and my printer settings are as follows:

    Color management: Illustrator determine colors

Printer profile: SPR1800 Standard (right now I just need a few black line drawings on plain paper)

    Render mode: colorimetric Relative

Now, if I change my print settings in Illustrator, I don't see any change in printing.  If I try to make changes by the "printer" window (after selecting the file > print > printer), I get a warning dialog and still nothing seems to change.  If I export an EPS or PDF and printing out of Photoshop, I get great prints.  I would like to cut the middlemen (PS) and print directly from Illustrator as opposed to the export of many drawings and printing from Photoshop.

    Any help is appreciated!

It is a known problem in Illustrator CS3 and Indesign Cs3, see the discussion in the son:

  • Fireworks CS3 & amp; Illustrator CS3

I don't know if it is more a problem of Illustrator or a problem of fires of artifice, but since I can post here, but can not connect to the Illustrator forum, I'll start here.

I have artwork created in Illustrator. Black and white images and I want the white to be transparent, or rather see - through, because I don't mean transparency in opacity. What I want, it's for the background to show through the 'white' parts of the black and white illustrations. For example, if you have a black circle with a white triangle in the middle and put it on a green background, the black circle will be black and the 'white' triangle will be green. If all goes well, that says what I'm trying to do.

Thus, in Illustrator CS3, I take this picture and use 'exclude' and 'develop' to apply to the illustration. Seems to work very well here. If I create a square of solid color and move behind the illustration, 'white' areas see the color of the square instead of white.

Now, when I open this image in Fireworks CS3, I get a solid black image. No path where the "white" areas should be. Just a solid black area.

Now, if I take this original creation, open it in Illustrator 5.5 (!), use "exclude", save and then open this file changed in 1.0 (!) Fireworks, it works fine. I can also open this Illustrator 5.5 file in Fireworks CS3 and it works fine.

Remember, the illustrations are more complex than a white triangle in a black circle. But, if Illustrator 5.5 and Fireworks 1.0 can manage them, the CS3 versions should be able to handle them as well.

Because I expect that the CS3 versions should be able to do the same things that can do the much older versions, I can only assume (and hope!) that I have to do something wrong. I would not have to save all my files in Illustrator CS3 to Illustrator 3 files (because it is impossible to record 5 Illustrator CS3), open them in Illustrator 5.5 and "exclude", then save it back and then finally open them in Fireworks CS3, all that involves the use of two Macs, given that the Intel Macs do not work classic. Looks like I should be able to move directly from Illustrator CS3 to Fireworks CS3.

So, what I am doing wrong?

Found! Compound path rather than exclude it.
