Create a PDF form to allow users to download an image in Adobe Reader?

Heres my MAC workflow.

CS4 Indesign > Acrobat 9 Pro >

Forms > Add Edit form fields

Then I create a button. (where I want the placed image)

Options > icon push only,.

Action > run Javascript

event.target.buttonImportIcon ();

Extend the functionality of the player.

But no joy.

The image will load in Pro

But I get an error in the drive

NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property.

Really, it seems like a download of the image would be a standard requirement?

in any case how can I get there?

or am I a battle lost, tell me to stop wasting my time.

Small business, a bold solution is not in the budget.

Thank you!

You're fighting a losing battle, at least if you want to use a button for this. It's silly that they restrict drive this way, and I always urge people to submit a feature request in the hope he can get re-established in the future. You used to be able to do with the player, but they have it now. You can add to my request for functionality (again), I did last year: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/743823

The best that you can do now with player is to activate Reader rhetorically. This will allow the user to be able to paste an image that they manage to get copied to the Clipboard on a page in the form of a stamp. You just have to teach them how to copy an image to the Clipboard. They are allowed to resize, move, and rotate, which is far from ideal.

The other option is to attach a file as a comment, even if the image is not so visible on the screen, but at least it is included in the document and is easily accessible to the recipient.

The last option is to create the form using LiveCycle Designer, which is available with the Windows of Acrobat Pro version, but not the Mac. It has an image field that allows the user to select an image, well with a button in Acrobat. The fact that you can do with an XFA form but not an AcroForm makes this restriction even dumber.

Edit the form fields so that they use Helvetica by 9 points. Do not set the Arial font. Acrobat/Reader will use a private version of Arial as a substitute for Helvetica. If you specify Arial, it will integrate the entire police (sometimes several times), makes that increase the file size unnecessarily.

I am fairly new to this, but I think it has to do with the way you have drop them downs named. Copy you a then keep stick in each area? If so, that's the problem. You must rename each with a different number: Dropdown1, Dropdown2, etc. I think this might solve the problem.

  • InDesign CS5 - you can create editable pdf forms?

    Hey guys

I'm probably in the hope a little too much here, but in the past, I've created editable pdf forms by setting the entire doc in IDCS3 and then to create the form in Acrobat Pro.

I don't think that IDCS5 has added a trick new (a little hidden feature) to be able to create all (including fields etc.) in the ID?

    Thanks in advance

    Tom

No change except that Acrobat 9 Pro did a better job to recognize fields than earlier versions.

  • Creating a PDF file that has editable fields and replaceable images

I tried to understand how I can create a PDF file that is replaceable photos and editable text. I work for a company in which all computers have only Adobe Reader as a means to view or edit a PDF file. So far, I managed to create a file that contains fields of text editable with a custom look and feel, which is great! However, the next step was to create "fields" that can be filled by a picture. Is there a way to create with LiveCycle or any other prorgram also replaceable images.

My goal is simple: create a PDF file that has editable textfields and replaceable images. What should be done in Adobe Reader.

I use Adobe Acrobat X Pro to create this file, and I wonder if Live Cycle can help me with this problem, or if this is even possible at first. Thanks in advance.

Your goal is very simple with the LCD. Only use an Image field (important no Image) of the object library.

Any time you can click on it and select a new image.

    Hope this information is useful?

    Kind regards Mandy

  • Is it possible to create a form that allows users to import data from an excel spreadsheet

I was not able to start my reading on writing scripts or other features of livecycle to try to understand this, but I was wondering if anyone else had already created a form with this feature or had any ideas on how it would be possible.  Currently, our company uses and Excel form that have a variable number of rows of data for each time it is filled and we it would be replaced with a form of adobe.  I would like to know if users who will use the new form in adobe reader adobe, might have the ability to imort lines of the previous form of excel in the new version of adobe.

    Hello

You can configure a data connection with an Excel spreadsheet. However, for the data connection caring for users of Reader, you need to activate Reader with LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2.5 (server component) form. See here for the summary: http://assure.ly/etkFNU.

However, if you just try to get existing data into shape, you should have a look at some of the posts by Stefan Cameron: http://forms.stefcameron.com/ (try a search). You can start a new form by using the wizzard and select import into Excel. This will allow you to paste your spreadsheet to a new form. This should help to put in place the structure/data schema, which you can then reproduce in a new form. I've not done this before, but it should be possible.

    Hope that helps,

    Niall

  • I created a PDF form, sent to one person to fill in, but he was white * when they returned it. Why?    * a little

On a trial, but you want to buy and literally my first experience as an Acrobat on a MacBook Air was this:

I created a word doc form

Transformed into a PDF file (via the print function)

Open in Acrobat to create a fillable form

    Fact. Easy

Yet, when I sent to someone and asked them to fill, he returned blank...

... except when I clicked on each field text magically appeared, before disappearing again.

It is in the preview, so I opened in Acrobat and everything was good, and I could print it. Yet he recorded still virgin.

Is this weird? Or I do something wrong?

I use InDesign to create from producing an interactive PDF then it complete in Acrobat Pro. I don't know if the information below works with a product PDF fromMSWord.

You need to drive turn on your form.

How do depends on which version of Acrobat Pro you have. In Acrobat Pro ms, for example, after you have finalized your form you must:

File > save as other > Reader Extended PDF. This version will now allow users to use their Acrobat Reader to fill out your form and save the data.

(Also you can add print, clear form, buttons for forms of email to your form.)

Make a copy of your form before you drive to allow him because once this has been done, it is not editable.

I suggest that you have a practice with a simple test form before you continue with your.

  • How can I create a PDF form that contains data fields and calculated fields?

Hello, I need to create PDF forms that has

-Fields that are read from a MS SQL Server database, once the user enters a field other fields must be read from an underlying database

    -Calculated fields

what PDF forms product supports this? Once this file created is also filling end-user which form has any kind of special licenses, otherwise he will be able to fill this with Adobe Reader?

You need to expand the PDF form using Adobe LiveCycle Designer if you want to be able to connect to a database.

And Yes, it should be possible to use the file in Adobe Reader after that.

  • Create a PDF form that fills an Excel worksheet?

Hello, I have basic experience with InDesign and you want to do something a little intimidating (not sure if it is still possible).

I'm coordinates a scholarship competition where people fill out a form and I want that data to fill an Excel worksheet. I also have these forms available so I need a way to "lock" the process of edition form.

I want to my form layout in InDesign and give him a few data fields (e.g., name, contact information, etc.) and radio buttons (for example what price category would you like to participate). There are some fields of data (for example, to provide information on your presentation) that I didn't need to fill my Excel spreadsheet.

The Excel worksheet will simply be used for administrative purposes (for example, hold how many people is competing in a specific category).

Is this possible? Tutorials online that people can direct me to? Thank you!

Yoou can create the form in the ID and then export to PDF and Acrobat allows you to convert it to a form and 'publish '. You have several options on how retrieve you the data from the published form and one is designed to allow you to fill out a worksheet, I think, but it's really a matter of Acrobat. How large will the distribution? A standard Acrobat license allows only 500 returns.

  • Can I create a PDF form with a field for adding/editing of the Photos?

Does anyone have a solution to the following problem?

I would like to be able to a form usable by others in the Office to fill out a particular inventory and model number.  (Fields, easy)

Then have a field where they can replace the PICTURE of the item designated by the model number and inventory.

Is this possible with Acrobat professional? Can the document can be saved as, or exported from there somehow?

I know it's easy to do in Word probabably, but a photo can be changed on a PDF file and saved in the form?

Thanks for any help or suggestion!

It will make it possible for them to choose a new picture. You want never pull you the picture of the shape to use elsewhere?

In order to implement in Acrobat, you can create a button to display the image, other than 'Label only' value its page layout and add JavaScript code next to the action of the mouse upward:

Prompt the user to select an image

    event.target.buttonImportIcon ();

For PC users, Acrobat Standard is sufficient for this.

  • PDF file generated from Reporting SERVICES hangs when opened in Adobe reader 11 and saved as with "optimized for fast web view."

Large pdf (over 1000 pages) generated files form SSRS crashes when opened in Adobe reader 11 and saved as with "Optimized for fast web view" activated. This saves fine with disabling this option. However, our customers are not ready to accept this solution because they do not want to change any settings. Please suggest if we should create a ticket with microsoft for SSRS allow the generation of pdf quick display of Web pages or is it an option in Adobe to fix this problem without changing the settings.

The SSRS file has Fast Web View: 'No' and that's how Microsoft SSRS generates these files.

Thank you for the complete maxwyss response

As you have indicated, the PDF SSRS seems to have some elements that are quite similar to be supported for fast web view.

We asked customers to disable the fast web view, but the customer is big enough to make a change individually on their machines and so were looking for a solution.

I saw in several forums and a few discussions here as well as disable the fast web view option works for pdf fails.

Which was just wondering if its known that multiple PDFs genarted by third parties may have problems with the optimization, the Save as optimized for fast web view could be disabled by default installation of acrobat reader rather than be enabled by default

    Thanks again for the reply!
