Create PDF to open file Excel native application

I'm trying to follow an Adobe tutorial on creating and combining different files with Acrobat DC. When you add files to the original PDF document (under a Powerpoint file), each native application launching, for example, Excel, PPT etc. How can I stop this from happening? Thanks to a bouquet.

Hi Patricia,

Whenever you go convert or combine these types of files, it will open these apps in the background will be automatically gets. Are they not get closed once completed the conversion process?

Thank you

Since firefox recently updated, .pdf files when clicked, either on the web or e-mail opens a box that says save file or open the file. Hi Matt, sometimes the application's preferences end up with multiple entries, some under 'Adobe Acrobat... "and the other under" Portable Document Format (PDF).

If you have fiddled with all those who, without success, the settings file that stores these associations may has been corrupted. You can rename or delete and have Firefox regenerate. Here's how:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

Leave this window open, activate any Firefox window and quit the program (for example, the file menu > exit or Firefox menu > Exit)

Pause while Firefox finishing his cleaning, then rename the mimeTypes.rdf to something like mimeTypes.old

Restart Firefox. Your likely PDF preferences will be reset to the internal PDF Viewer, but you can always turn on 'ask '.

  • Function of the file/etc/Upload of an open file of the application, using the file as a utility Explorer, does not work on my Win7 PC.

If I run the file Explorer (open) by itself right clicking the my computer icon on the desktop, or work when I double click on the shortcut to My Documents on the desktop, all files are visible (except the system and hidden files, by default, of course). I don't think it's File Explorer itself, for reasons described. It must be an add-on, or ACCELERATOR, as it is called when this functionality is provided for other applications or the Internet Explorer browser. 10, IExplorer even the fact when I want to attach a file to an e-mail in the tab of the mail.live.com browser or dialog box that prompts for a download location and the source file. The only place where I can browse the file Explorer to display its content, is the office. I have automatic updates for all my Windows software installed on my PC, as well as for all my applications. This happened for months, and the only work around is to copy the files to the desktop, take them out there in my app/browser and then delete. It's a pain in the thigh not only because of the increased workload, but also because my OS is running on a very small SSD drive (128 GB), reserved for the windows and the user * he pours on the system drive. All this extra activity write/erase on my system drive is exhausting the ability of my SSD FLASH prematurely. • Save as PDF replaces open file

    Hey community!

I hope everyone had a great holiday labor day and is pleased the weather cools to come in the next few months.

Here is what is happening.  I work in a small marketing department that does little pamphlets and brochures that we deliver in PDF format to our customers. I use Illustrator most.  When I work on what either its a file in Illustrator I as described in the window that I work in (example: FileName.ai @ some % (preview CMYK/GPU).)  When I save this file into a PDF file via "save under", Illustrator will have nomdefichier.pdf @ some % (preview CMYK/GPU) in the name of the file in the window of the open workspace.

So my question, is there a way to change the settings for that, when I record on a .pdf of an .ai the .ai file will remain open the file and not move on to the pdf format?

I appreciate help or advice that is will can have!

    Use rather "Save a Copy".

  • Missing icons on the open file dialogue box

I am running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).  All updates applied.

Problem: When you use the dialog box open file - some file/folder icons are missing.  Not that big of a deal, but introduce that dialog open file in an application they may crash.  I think this may be the cause.

Details: When I use Windows Explorer, everything seems as it should be in the Navigation pane.  For example, I see Favorites and Desktop under Favorites.  The desktop icon is correct.  Everything is as it should be.  If I open Wordpad, and then select file open, the dialog box is, once again, as it should.  All the icons displayed.  However, if I open Word 2007 and select the open file, there is a strange icon for the office and most of the other items under Favorites, some of my libraries display one appropriate icon, others do not.  In the right pane (where the files are listed), there are no icons for files at all, they are simply empty.  I can select the files, then open them, everything works, just no icons.  It is not only the Microsoft Office applications that illustrate this.  If I open the VLC media player, select media, open a file.  I have the same thing (missing icons).

I could live with that, but it seems to cause some applications (applications specifically Flash) to hang when I try to open the files.  For example, if I try to upload a photo to Snapfish.com using the Flash application, it crashes every time than IE when the open file dialog box opens.  Exactly the same happens using the Chrome browser.  Everything works fine as long as I do not open the open file dialog box.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Jonathan

    Hello Jonathan Moeller.

There are a few additional troubleshooting steps that we could proceed to isolate or fix this problem.  Just to inform you beforehand, if in fact it is malicious viral content on your system or base operating system files are potentially corrupt. I might suggest a repair installation.  This would be the last option or suggestion.

-Open the prompt (run as administrator) and type SFC/scannow

-Create an another user account (Admin) and check if in fact you are still having this problem

-Turn your computer into a cleanboot scenerio to isolate if a 3rd party service is potentially the first cause of this issue.  Here are the steps...

Step 1: Open the System Configuration utility

    ClickStart

type msconfig in theSearch box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Step 2: Configure selective startup options

    1. in theSystem Configuration utility dialog box, click Selective startup on thegeneral tab.

2 clear theLoad Startup items check box.

Note The check boxuse the Boot file is not available.

    3. click on theServices tab.

    4. Click to select thehide all Microsoft Services check box.

    5. click ondisable alland then click OK.

    6. When you are prompted, clickrestart.

-In addition, please try to rebuild the indexing function.  Here are the steps...

    1. go into the Control Panel.

2 display All the items from Control Panel by changing the parameter display by in the upper right corner of thelarge icons or small iconscategory.

    3. Select Indexing Options.

    4. click on the Advanced button.

    5. when the UAC prompt appears, click continue.

    6. in the Troubleshooting section, click on the button to rebuild

-In addition, each local user account have their Iconcache.db file or database is located at c:\users\Username\appdata\local\iconcache.db.  Please remove this file.  However, it is preferable that you simply follow the steps below.  Everything must be simple to follow.

Re-create the file icon-Cache by deleting

    1. Each user has its own file named Iconcache.db: USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Iconcache.db
    2. Close all the explorer.exe process using the Task Manager (or else it will create a bad file during the closing session/restart)... Go to the processes tab and locate explorer.exe and right-click on it and select end process tree tree/end of tasks
    3. Use the Task Manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC) to launch the explorer.exe again... Once you open the Task Manager, click file, new task.  type 'explorer.exe '... All of your icons should reappear with the taskbar.  You may need to shut down or restart your computer.  Please check if you are able to see your icons with success.

If you please follow on this thread at the earliest, I would be very happy.  I look forward to hear from you.  Have a great day.

    Thank you

Anyone know how to fix this?

I found an online reference to an ioerror + error pdfmark dealing with Document Structuring Conventions, thereby disabling DSC may be worth a try; in years past by DSC parameters have been a source of considerable pain of distillation.

I think you said that you have an Acrobat installation and not only the one that comes with FM (?), I use Acrobat 9, so I don't know if the menu items are going to be the same in your Distiller or not, but open Distiller, go to settings and then click on "Edit Adobe PDF settings."

Question: What are the settings joboptions are you using - high quality printable or...?

Then click on settings and look for the entry that is similar to 'Edit Adobe PDF settings' which should bring up a dialog box similar to the one below:

Click Advanced, and check if the DSC is turned

Assuming so, uncheck it. Then do OK and when the Save dialog box appears to save it under a new name (NoDSC.joboptions or otherwise).

Now, try to create the .ps and pdf, ensuring that the joboptions NoDSC are used when distill you.

  • Cannot create PDFs in Google Chrome

Whenever I try to create a PDF file of the Acrobat plugin in the browser Chrome, after selecting the save location, it will get stuck at "download for Conversion...". "on the first try after turning on my computer.

It just hangs there, and then I have to put an end to the Acrobat plugin in the Task Manager to get it to stop listening.  Yet another attempt will not work, and I have to finish the plugin in force once again.

The plugin will start to work if I use the option 'Print' normal in Chrome and select Adobe PDF printer once.  Then when I try the plugin Acrobat in Chrome, it will start to work.

Is there a way to prevent this, so that the plugin Acrobat in Chrome works every time after start/restart of the computer so I can't go through the extra steps?

    Hi Thomas

It is a known issue and we are investigating it.

To work around the problem, you can create a PDF of some Office file or web page of Acrobat via file > create > PDF of the file before you start the conversion of Chrome or print to the Adobe PDF printer.

This is required only once after system reboot.

    Thank you

  • Failed to create the PDF using the 'Create PDF' feature in Acrobat 8

I can create using "Save as" in my Office programs, but only from the Windows Explorer box, not in the menu.  However, I can no longer 'create pdf' or 'combine files' inside of Acrobat 8.  I reinstall to get message.  It starts and hangs up.  I tried to reinstall CD.   I use this feature a lot to create files and he just left.  Nothing new has been installed which may interfere. I made sure the Distiller is not idle.  Thoughts?

You can expect the AA9 upgrade. It is suspected by many that AA10 is about to be released and so all too well wait.
