Save as PDF replaces open file

Hey community!

I hope everyone had a great holiday labor day and is pleased the weather cools to come in the next few months.

Here is what is happening.  I work in a small marketing department that does little pamphlets and brochures that we deliver in PDF format to our customers. I use Illustrator most.  When I work on what either its a file in Illustrator I as described in the window that I work in (example: FileName.ai @ some % (preview CMYK/GPU).)  When I save this file into a PDF file via "save under", Illustrator will have nomdefichier.pdf @ some % (preview CMYK/GPU) in the name of the file in the window of the open workspace.

So my question, is there a way to change the settings for that, when I record on a .pdf of an .ai the .ai file will remain open the file and not move on to the pdf format?

I appreciate help or advice that is will can have!

Use rather "Save a Copy".

  • Firefox will not save preferences & crashes when opening files

Two main issues here, but they can be linked together somehow.

First Firefox always wonder if I want to contribute to send performance data every time I open the browser. I followed all the advice in the article 'FF won't save my preferences' and vain. I have now uninstalled FF and deleted all traces (Inc. in hidden folders). Now re-installed, it does exactly the same thing and now won't save my homepage either.

Secondarily, firefox always crashes when I try and import and export bookmarks without fail. Also often crashes when you press a button download, for example gmail attachments files or post image Facebook to file. This has happened for some time and is still, even after wiping everything...

Try creating a new profile as a test to check whether your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

  • Double-click on the PDF not opening files with

    Mac OS x 10.1.1 10.11.6/Acrobat.

Suddenly does not open pdf files with a double click, I now open Acrobat and file > open.

In addition, once they are open, they do not close by clicking on the small red dot, now, I have to go to file > close.

Please don't suggest not to change the default open with file information - they already have all the default value of Acrobat.

    So frustrating!

  • Cannot save Firefox .pdf files

I have problems with registration of .pdf files from certain sites (ex: Time Warner Cable) with Firefox. When I click on view or save the .pdf, Firefox opens a new window and I can see the document. However, sometimes it doesn't let me save it. When I'm at the bottom of the document, the Adobe menu bar appears, but when I hit the Save icon, nothing happens (note: in rare cases, hitting the record icon will open a dialog box and allows me to record the document; however, most often, he has nothing.) Even on the same site - sometimes it allows me to save; Sometimes it doesn't). It is noted in the Firefox window that will allow me to save either (just Move, size, Minimize, Maximize, Close). Internet Explorer and Chrome allow me to save the .pdfs from these sites, is not a problem of site.

    Any thoughts?

Disable all plugins Adobe in Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins and click the PDF link again. It should not open the file in the browser and then, and it might be easier to save.

You can configure actions for Firefox to take when you open PDF links on the Control Panel Applications in your preferences.

  • Unable to save a PDF file.

I can't save any PDF format that come as attachments. When I click on "Save as" in the opened file, nothing happens. Right click gives a list of options, but savings isn't one of them. I can save only a PDF coming for download by moving the file from the downloaded file in the destination folder. Yet once, by clicking on "save under" does nothing. I have Windows 7 and Adobe Reader XI and I have tried to reinstall Adobe Reader. All solutions?

How about using save attachments to your e-mail client?

On two Macs, I can't 'Save as PDF' in the sense of Lightroom CC Module. My iMac is running my MacBook Pro Yosemite and El Capitan. I am under Lightroom CC 2015.3 Release. I've linked to different pictures and I swear it worked I spent. Any idea what I might be doing wrong - o n computers?

Printer configure only. Then, in the print task panel, select print to: printer and click Print or printer. The printer button will bring to the top of the window to Setup again and allow you to make changes. The print button starts the print job (save as PDF) with no popup of installation. The window "save PDF file under ' should appear and prompt you to enter a file name and the destination of the file. This is the behavior I see with Adobe Acrobat Pro installed, but it should work the same with any PDF printer driver.

  • Last open Adobe Standard DC .dwg (office) files will allow you to save a .pdf copy?

The last stand-alone desktop version Adobe Acrobat Standard DC will open the .dwg files and allow you to save a .pdf copy, and this version is compatible with Windows 10?

    Hi Jack Garren

Yes, you can convert the .dwg file in the .pdf file format.

Reference: taken supported file formats. Adobe Acrobat, Reader

Acrobat Standard DC is also compatible with the operating system Windows 10.

Please check the system requirements: system requirements | Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Acrobat Standard DC

  • additional window opens each time I want to save a pdf file

    Hello

I use adobe acrobat reader on a windows 7 Professional laptop (lenovo) dc.

It's really annoying that every time I wanto to save a pdf file, it opens this additional window where I am asked to choose a carpet for the file. Then, there are 4 different mats, I have used it before and then opens the normal window where I can actually save the file. I just want to cancel the first step, because it takes so long if there's always a step more before the Save.

can someone help me with this problem?

    welcomes kevin

    Hi kevinh57662472,

You could uncheck 'Show online storage to save files' under ' Edit > Preferences > general.

Click OK, and then restart your application.

    Hope that helps.

  • I have updated to DC (about a month) and cannot save my PDF files more.  What is the cause of the dialog box "Save as" do not open?

I have updated to DC (about a month) and cannot save my PDF files more.  What is the cause of the dialog box "Save as" do not open?

    Hi mwebsterdps-sc,.

    Try this: -.

The default "Save as" dialog Acrobat DC is different from the dialogue box you had in earlier versions of Acrobat, it also allows you to record in the clouds and previous locations that you saved the files. It is possible that when Acrobat tries to connect to the 'cloud', it runs into problems. You can try to disable this feature to see if this brings your backup in the back of the box: open Acrobat Edit menu access-> Preferences, then go to the "General" category and uncheck "show the online storage when you save files:

I would like to know if it works.

  • How to save a PDF file in order to open them up to the 100% instead of 177% zoom?

Currently all of the PDF files I record 177% still open. It is not very legible and requires users to zoom in to 100% in order to see the entire document. I would like to save my PDF files so they automatically open to 100% (AKA Fit to Page) whenever a customer opens to them. Is this possible? I tried several methods, but even check adjust to Page in the menu print and then to print a PostScript does not. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Open the file in Acrobat Pro, set the initial view, and then save the file.

  • Cannot open a PDF file. Unable to save a PDF file on my MAC computer

Hi I have problems with my Adobe Reader software on my Mac... Mac OSX version 10.7.5.  It all started when I update my Adobe Reader class.  Since then, I always get a saying of the window "Adobe Reader could not open '_' because it is not a type of supported file or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an attachment to e-mail and was not properly decoded."

I couldn't open any PDF on my desk.  I could also save a document as a pdf, but it looks like a notebook on my office file... not the normal red pdf file.

I don't know how I can fix the problem.

    Hi jcs174,

If you want to save a pdf file open in Safari on your machine, use the Save as option in the player window. Simply click on one of the buttons below screenshots to save a pdf file to any location on your computer.

    or

To summarize the question, if you had opened a PDF from the Internet in a browser plug-in, you must use the backup feature in the plug-in, but not the Safari file > Export PDF or file > save as...

Please let us know if this solution works for you and you are able to save and view PDFs files locally.
