Create 'Table cell Style' by script

Hello

I want to check the style of table cell was created in indesign? If not created I need to create the style name of cell with dummy properties such as 'TBL_COLH', 'TBL_BODY' (is the cell style name).

1. If the 'TBL_COLH' & 'TBL_BODY', this cell style appeared in Indesign, give me alert ' the cell style, already present in Indesign.

2. If the 'TBL_COLH' & 'TBL_BODY' this cell style not appeared in Indesign, I need to create the cell with dummy properties style.

Is it possible by script?

by

Hasvi

Hi Hasvi,

Yes, possible. It's here.

var doc = app.activeDocument;

var table = ['TBL_COLH', 'TBL_BODY'];

for (var i = 0; i)<>

{

try {}

doc.cellStyles.add({name:array[i]});)

}

catch (e)

{

Alert ("'" + array [i] + "'" + "already exists in the document.")

}

}

Kind regards

    It is easy to read/write properties that already exist, but how do I create a new?

    It is in applescript, CS4

    Rgds /Mattias

    In JavaScript, it looks like this:

    g = app.documents [0].paragraphStyles.item ("par"). nestedGrepStyles.add ();
    g.appliedCharacterStyle = app.documents [0].characterStyles.item ("smallcaps");
    g.grepExpression = "\\u\\u+";

  • Cell styles missing cell styles in the palette

    Last Friday, I have created a table style and a certain number of cell styles & part of my starting indesign setting initial and included as part of a document and a document template.

    This morning (Monday) when I open Indesign, I noticed my cell styles palette was empty - there is nothing listed here or selectable somehow. Yet the range of styles of table shows the table that I created and when I look at that I noticed that all cell styles, that I created. More later if I try to edit a cell style in the style of table the list and I would select all cell styles that I created last week even though they do not appear in the palette cell styles.

    I tried to delete Indesign Defaults and AppPrefs.xml nothing works. I tried to create new cell styles, but they disappear immediately after creation - the palette remains empty cell styles. I tried to import the model & document styles that I created last week - nothing. I tried to export my model to IDML & reopening; still no go. I checked all paragraph and character styles used by the cell styles and they are present. Nothing seems to work.

    Has anyone else encountered and/or solved this problem?

    Hi again Peter.

    Not sure if it will work or not because I discovered a solution to the problem just before reading your response. When I clicked on the dual turns up and down the arrow on the tab name range to force the palette to expand & contract cell styles suddenly reappeared. As an additional measure, I just went and deleted the file SavedData so just in case where it was corrupted and would create other problems. Problem seems to have been resolved

  • Variable font inside a table cell properties

    Hello

    the following code works fine inside a text box:

    with(textArea.insertionPoints) {
         for ( var iStringSection = 0; iStringSection < stringsAndStyles.length; iStringSection++ ) {
              lastItem().properties = {
                   contents: stringsAndStyles[iStringSection].contents,
                   fontStyle: stringsAndStyles[iStringSection].fontStyle
              }
         }
    }

    The style changes of fonts correctly for each segment of the chain. But if I try the same thing with a table cell (just replace textArea with the active cell, stays remains the same), the fontstyle will not change between segments of the chain. Is there a different approach to reach the variable font inside a table cell styles? Without the help of a new paragraph, the police is supposed to change on the same line.

    Thank you very much!

  • Help with a script to search for text in a table cell and apply the cell style

    Hello

    I build the script which Jongware wrote in his post here http://indesignsecrets.com/tackling-tables-through-scripting.php - I am trying to create a variable in which I can add a number of different parts of the text, in this case it's different parts of the United Kingdom i.e. 'London', 'East', 'Scotland' etc. I just need the script to apply the cell Style - 'District Cell' - to any cell that contains text in the variable. Here's the script, if anyone can help I would be grateful.

    function checkWhichTable()

  • Help with a script that detects the content in a cell and apply the cell style to line

    Hello

    I am trying to add an article to my table formatting script that is a cell with the word 'Budget' (but this can be written as ' Budget:' or ' Budget: (E) "- but without the speech marks) and apply the cell Style - SponsorCells - to all the cells of the whole line. I currently have on what it will, but it does not work:

    function checkWhichTable()

    return;
    allTables = app.activeDocument.stories.everyItem().tables.everyItem().getElements();
    for (aTable=0; aTable<allTables.length; aTable++)
    {
    processTable (allTables[aTable]);
    }
    } else
    {
    processTable (a_table);
    }
    }
    function processTable(table)
    {
    // do something here!

    //Set 1st Row Height
    table.rows[0].height = "30mm";

    //Find Text in Cell and apply Cell Style to Row
    var
      myCellText=['Budget', 'Budget:', 'Budget: (E)'];
     var myRegEx = new RegExp("^("+myCellText.join("|")+")$");
      for (i=0; i<table.cells.length; i++)
      {
        if (table.cells[i].texts[0].contents.match(myRegEx))
          table.cell[i].appliedCellStyle = "SponsorCells";
      }

    //end - do something here!
    }

    I can get the script to apply the cell style to "SponsorCells" for each cell that contain the word 'Budget' etc, but I need cell ever on this line to have the cell style applied. I tried to re-write line 56 which applies the style to a cell, but I can't seem to make it work. Any help would be great.

    Separate on this issue, I would like to have a line of code similar to the 46 line, which sets the 1st height of lines, but I would like to say "If a cell has 'A cell Style' and then applies the value height 10 mm". If someone could result as a help of bonuses, things would be great double.

    Thanks in advance!

    But that could be painfully slow. To speed things up, follow these steps:

    var cells = table.cells.everyItem().getElements();
    for (var i=0; i

    It is faster, because it creates an array of cells with a call to table.cells, which is several times faster than calling table.cells. And before assigning to line 12mm height is useful to check if it is already 12 mm. checking things in InDesign and do things only when it is necessary is much more effective than simply doing things even if they are not necessary.

  • With the help of several styles of paragraph in a table cell

    Hello

    I'm stuck using several styles of paragraph within a cell. I guess the solution is that I need to start a new paragraph, but so far I have not found a way to do it. When I directly in InDesign, it works fine, but I can not start a new paragraph when you use the script.

    Here's a solution I've tried:

    with {(table)

    .properties de.insertionPoints.item-(1) lines [0] .cells [0] = {}

    content: '1 ' Format string,

    appliedParagraphStyle: styleFormat1

    };

    .properties de.insertionPoints.item-(1) lines [0] .cells [0] = {}

    content: "\rString in size 2',

    appliedParagraphStyle: styleFormat2

    };

    }

    But until now I did not get a new paragraph. When you look at the IDMLs, you can see that InDesign adds a new paragraph inside the cell, while my code remains in the same paragraph.

    Here the IDML result when I do in InDesign:

    "< cell auto ="ue0ie4i0"Name =" "0:0" RowSpan = "1" ColumnSpan = "1" AppliedCellStyle = "CellStyle / $ID / [no]" AppliedCellStylePriority = "0" >

    < ParagraphStyleRange AppliedParagraphStyle = "ParagraphStyle/Format1" >

    < CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle = "CharacterStyle / $ID / [no style character]" >

    < content > string to Format 1 < / content >

    < Br / >

    < / CharacterStyleRange >

    < / ParagraphStyleRange >

    < ParagraphStyleRange AppliedParagraphStyle = "ParagraphStyle/Format2" >

    < CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle = "CharacterStyle / $ID / [no style character]" >

    < content > string to Format 2 < / content >

    < / CharacterStyleRange >

    < / ParagraphStyleRange >

    < / cell >

    And here is that when I use the script:

    "< cell auto ="ue0ie4i0"Name =" "0:0" RowSpan = "1" ColumnSpan = "1" AppliedCellStyle = "CellStyle / $ID / [no]" AppliedCellStylePriority = "0" >

    < ParagraphStyleRange AppliedParagraphStyle = "ParagraphStyle/Format2" >

    < CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle = "CharacterStyle / $ID / [no style character]" >

    < content > string to Format 1 < / content >

    < Br / >

    < content > string to Format 2 < / content >

    < / CharacterStyleRange >

    < / ParagraphStyleRange >

    < / cell >

    It is therefore quite clear my script is not adding a new paragraph. Any ideas how to get a new paragraph so I can use more than one paragraph style?

    I don't have test nore debug your code, but I suggest you another method to apply the content and style of two paragraphs. Do not use a with statement.

    What is your version of InDesign?

    Example:

    // Add new document:
    var doc = app.documents.add();
    // Add two paragraph styles:
    var paraStyle1 = doc.paragraphStyles.add({name : "ParaStyle-1" , pointSize : 20});
    var paraStyle2 = doc.paragraphStyles.add({name : "ParaStyle-2" , pointSize : 15});

    // Add a new text frame (default is on page 1):
    var newTextFrame = doc.textFrames.add();
    newTextFrame.geometricBounds = [0,0,"150mm","150mm"];

    // Add a table to this text frame:
    var table = newTextFrame.tables.add
    (
        {
            bodyRowCount : 4 ,
            columnCount : 3 ,
            width : "150mm"
        }

    );

    // Assign the contents as array:
    // The fisrt and only entry in this array will give the first cell its contents:
    table.contents =
    [
        "Paragraph 1"+"\r"+"Paragraph 2"
    ]

    // Assign the formatting of the two paragraphs:
    table.cells[0].paragraphs[0].appliedParagraphStyle = paraStyle1;
    table.cells[0].paragraphs[1].appliedParagraphStyle = paraStyle2;

    Strategic outcome with InDesign CS6 Mac OS x 10.6.8 v8.1.0:

    Hope, that helps.

  • How to apply the character style to table cell

    I'm sure it's basic, but I can't find any references on how to do it and my attempts have failed.  I use VB and CS5.5

    Basically what I'm trying to do is to select a table cell and apply a character like this style...

    MyCharacterStyle = myDocument.CharacterStyles.Add set

    myCharacterStyle.Name = "TH2".

    myTable2.Cells.Item (1) .appliedCharacterStyle = "TH2".

    with this code, I get a "object does not support this property or method.  myTable2.Cells.Item (...). appliedCharacterStyle ".

    I tried several other versions without success.

    Can someone tell me what would be the proper syntax to apply a character style to text in a table cell, or if it's still the right path to follow on that?

    I have to select the text in the cell rather than the cell itself, and if so, how do you do that?

    Thank you

    You do not need to select the text in the cell, but you need

    to target rather than the cell. It is true that in the user interface, you can

    Select the cell and apply a style of tank, but not with a script. Thus, in

    JavaScript is:

    myCell.texts.item (0) = .appliedCharacterStyle

    app.activeDocument.characterStyles.itemByName ("MyCharStyleName")

    It must be something similar in VB also.

    Of course, you can target the text in different ways:

    myCell.characters.everyItem () or myCell.paragraphs.everyItem () etc etc.

    but I think that the text is the most basic of the lot.

  • Tame the table and cell styles

    I find table styles and cell styles to be quite a nightmare in InDesign - in other words, as long as the paragraph style is included in the definition of the cell style. The only way I could get a table without substitution involves the steps as much as it is not effective:

    1) click an empty paragraph.

    (2) apply the paragraph style.

    (3) type the text that will come eventually in a table cell. (All my paintings are a cell, a column tables).

    (4) select the text without selecting the symbol of paragraph at the end.

    (5) choose table > convert text to table.

    I would be very happy if anyone knows of a script that can do these steps and can put me out of my misery.

    (Or maybe is there a way to avoid cell style replacements that I did not discover. (There was a discussion on this problem to http://forums.adobe.com/message/2043634#2043634, but none of the suggestions got rid of substitutions of paragraph style cell.)

    Hi jay

    You should check the character styles. If paragraph styles will not be on the trip, I found that it is because it applies a character style. Some people use styles to the paragraphs format characters. (?!)

  • SQL authentication provider - create table script

    Hi all!
    I would use the SQL provider for my Web application authentication. I can't find the script to create tables of users/roles used by the provider.
    Can you suggest me a link where I can download?
    Thank you
    Frank

    Hi Frank,.

    Configure the SQL authenticator:

    Start Oracle XE DB and open propmt SQL to run commands below:

    CREATE TABLE USERS)
    U_NAME VARCHAR (200) NOT NULL,
    U_PASSWORD VARCHAR (50) NOT NULL,
    U_DESCRIPTION VARCHAR (1000))
    ;
    ALTER TABLE USERS
    ADD CONSTRAINT PK_USERS
    PRIMARY KEY (U_NAME)
    ;
    CREATE TABLE GROUPS)
    G_NAME VARCHAR (200) NOT NULL,
    G_DESCRIPTION VARCHAR (1000) NULL)
    ;
    ALTER TABLE GROUPS
    ADD CONSTRAINT PK_GROUPS
    PRIMARY KEY (G_NAME)
    ;
    CREATE TABLE GROUPMEMBERS)
    G_NAME VARCHAR (200) NOT NULL,
    G_MEMBER VARCHAR (200) NOT NULL)
    ;
    ALTER TABLE GROUPMEMBERS
    ADD CONSTRAINT PK_GROUPMEMS
    (PRIMARY KEY)
    G_NAME,
    G_MEMBER
    )
    ;
    ALTER TABLE GROUPMEMBERS
    ADD CONSTRAINT FK1_GROUPMEMBERS
    FOREIGN KEY (G_NAME)
    REFERENCE (G_NAME) GROUPS
    ON DELETE CASCADE

    Generally, customers can add users directly in DB with help commands below:

    insert into USERS (U_NAME, U_PASSWORD, U_DESCRIPTION) values ('system', 'weblogic', 'user admin');
    insert into GROUPS (G_NAME, G_DESCRIPTION) values ('Administrators', 'Administrators');
    insert into values('Administrators','system') GROUPMEMBERS (G_NAME, G_MEMBER);

    But in this case is not encrypted password then, either you can add users via the console or WLST script to be stored in encrypted form.

    We had performed above commands just to check that the user that is stored directly in the DB gets properly authenticated or not configured SQL authenticator as below

    Now start weblogic admin server and console access to create the data source by the navigation Services-> JDBC-> data sources

    Create the data source named SqlDS

    JNDI: SqlDS

    Type of DB: Oracle

    : DB driver Oracle Thin XA

    Name of the data base: XE

    Now click on newly created provider and make the indicator of control as "sufficient".

    Go to the specific page of provider:

    1. check on cleartext passwords enabled.

    2. provide a data name source: SqlDS

    Keep the rest of the parameters it is and save this configuration. It will ask you to restart the management server.

    Now, again navigate areas of security-myrealm-> users & groups >

    User created directly in the DB control is listed in the table with SqlAuthenticator, once its list, go ahead and add users as below

    B. Cretae users using the administration console:

    Sign in to the administration console

    Access areas of security-myrealm-> users & groups >

    Click the users tab and try to create the new user

    User name:

    Select authentication provider: SqlAuthenticator

    User password:

    Once the table DB check creating user, this user added with password encypted musted

    C. create multiple users using WLST script:

    File Navigave of $DOMAIN_HOME/bin and run the file setDomainEnv as below:

    UNIX:. ./setDomainEnv.sh (don't forget to put two points before /)

    Windows: setDomainEnv.cmd

    Now, change script depending on your environment below and run as suggested in step 3:

    Connect('weblogic','weblogic123','t3://localhost:7001')
    Edit()
    startEdit(-1,-1,'false')
    serverConfig()
    CD('/SecurityConfiguration/base_domain/Realms/MYREALM/AuthenticationProviders')
    ls()
    CD ('SqlAuthenticator')
    cmo.createUser ('vaishali', 'weblogic123', 'SQLuser')

    cmo.createUser ('pavashe', 'weblogic123', 'SQLuser')
    Edit()
    stopEdit('y')

    NOTE: Change username, password, and ADMIN_URL in 1st line.

    Replace the domain name "base_domain" by your domain online no.: 5

    Authenticator name change SQL online no: 6 by your authenticator name

    Next lines create users. You need to add however to users, you need to create programmatically.

    Syntax: cmo.createUser ('user_name', 'user_password', 'user_description')

    Now, to save these commands in a file with the extension .py and run as below:

    # java weblogic. WLST create_user.py

    If your script does not have to try running each command separately. For this session WLST beginning as below:

    # java weblogic. WLST

    Now run above commands in the script. You will be able to debug if something went wrong during execution of script.

    Kind regards
    Kal

  • Is there a system table that stores scripts "create table".

    Oracle which contains the scripts 'create table' for a table of system tables defined in a schema exist?

    I know that I can build with SQL querying the user_tab_columns, but I was wondering if the overall DML
    statement is already stored in another system table. In the Toad from Quest Software, you can simply go to the 'schema', "Tables," Brower
    Then select the "Script" tab and it shows you the statement 'create table' for the table that you are
    looking at. I wonder if Toad backstage is to build this script 'create table' via the user_tab_columns
    table or using another system table.

    Thank you in advance,
    Wes

    You can use the DBMS_METADATA. Procedure GET_DDL for details regarding the ddl statement used to create the table.
