Creating a new site

What continues with the creation of a new site using Dreamweaver CS4? When I create a new site and select the "root Local folder" and the "default images folder" I always have to go to the top level of a folder.

For example, if my site was located here "C:\Users\Me\Documents\Websites\Mindfully\" and I chose this folder from dreamweaver, it wouldn't select this folder! The actual file he would choose this "C:\Users\Me\Documents\Websites\" for me is selecting the "Mindfulness" folder, I have to go into a subfolder of 'Mindfulness' for example 'C:\Users\Me\Documents\Websites\Mindfully\images\ '. The same amounts when you select the default folder 'images' I need to create a subfolder in the folder 'images' or type the path in manually.

In fact, I thought that it was a problem with my old machine, but now I've upgraded to a Dell Studio XPS computer and exactly the same problem occurs and I all installed updates!

Someone at - it suggestions as to what the problem bloody?

Hello

It is a bug known, who apparently has something to do with a change in the windows OS / mac os x snow leopard, which was applied after cs4 was released.

    Hello dragoness13,

Here's an update on this issue.

Reason: Following an internal problem, association of account user of Muse and the corresponding user BC account breaks after Muse put 2015.2 to date. It is originally Muse to do not be able to enumerate the users existing sites BC to publish to the dialog Business Catalyst. The issue is addressed in Muse engineering team. Meanwhile, use the workflow as shown below.

    Solution/solution:

    1. Create a new site from Muse
    2. Publish it as a new trial to Business Catalyst site
    3. Close and reopen the Muse
    4. Open the affected site of Muse
    5. Publish on Business Catalyst now

Try this and let me know if it works for you.

    Thank you

  • Why my Muse formatting does not disappear when I open the site in DW CS6? I need to change the PayPal shopping cart code to account for my shipping options. I exported the Muse test in a folder and then created a new Site in DW using this file, so any CSS

Why my Muse formatting does not disappear when I open the site in DW CS6? I need to change the PayPal shopping cart code to account for my shipping options. I exported the Muse test in a folder and then created a new Site in DW with the help of this file, so all CSS should be there, but I don't see on the page about the elements without formatting, any stop to the left. Thank you!

PS: Muse will be the most impressive program ever when they fix these bugs or drop because not every user will be paying through the nose for Business Catalyst. Grrrrrrrrr.

Best approach would be not to use the PayPal widget and instead copy and paste the PayPal code embedded in an object > object to insert the HTML in Muse. This way you can edit the HTML code to embed PayPal code from Muse and without having to modify the exported code.

  • I can't create a new site of catalyst for business with Dreamweaver CC 2014. The error message states that Dreamweaver cannot connect with the server, try again later. How can I solve this problem?

I can't create a new site of Business Catalyst with Dreamweaver CC 2014 (Mac). The error message states that Dreamweaver cannot connect with the server, try again later. In addition, I am also unable to load remote site Business Catalyst created previously as it says that there is something wrong with my user name or password. However when I put my password and press to test the connection, he said that it has connected successfully. What is wrong and how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you

Thanks for the reply, however it seems to work again after I removed some unused Dreamweaver sites in the section "manage sites" in Dreamweaver.  It may have been a conflict of name or something.

  • When you create a new site to replace your existing it publish you it to a new or existing site?

When you create a new site to replace your existing it publish you it to a new or existing site?

To replace or update an existing site, you must select the same site when downloading.

If you create the new site then it will not replace the existing but would create a new site itself.

  • My site will remain on the internet if I create a new site definition?

    Hello

I need to change the FTP/RDS to a local or remote site site.

My site will drop if I delete the existing configuration of ftp and define a new site?

Do I lose all pages in dreamweaver?

    Thank you!

    EM

    None of the above.

Your site definition is used locally by Dreamweaver so that Dreamweaver knows where your files are the remote and located so that it can manage the links and paths of files. That's all

Your site server knows nothing about Dreamweaver site definitions. It hosts only the files.

Your local files on your hard drive don't know about Dreamweaver site definitions. They sit right on your hard drive.

The only way to lose files is to remove physically, either through Dreamweaver or via your operating system e.g. Windows Explorer.

  • create the new site - home page is index of /.

    Hello

I just started the design of a Web site.

I started my download joomla and had this installed on my page.

So I decided to change tact and use dreamweaver site.

I transferred my site dreamweaver successfully except for a glitch.

When I navigate to the home page the first page I see is...

    Index of /.

    Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 Phusion_Passenger/2.2.7 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.whereartyou.co.uk Port 80
When I click on the link whereartyou/ it goes through to the actual site but, for obvious reasons, I want to get rid of this opening index page and have the user go straight through to  the homepage of my dreamweaver site.
Anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of this page?
    Or what it might be?
    Cheers in advance!

the root folder of your site of public_html

Your home page must be located in this folder, not inside another folder.

You have placed an unnecessary file on your server named whereartyou / and buried your homepage in it.

  • New site created at the level of the incorrect directory

New to Dreamweaver and CS5.  I went to create a new site, but I created it at the root-level many other files on my hard drive are appearing "inside" of the site.  I do not have any content created yet, has been named the site.  If I go to "Manage Sites" and delete the wrong site, it will remove all other content on the hard drive inside this site?  Just afraid to hit the wrong button and removing hundreds of image PS files.

    No, you're safe.

Manage Sites simply manages the site definition (which means tell Dreamweaver, in his own unique language, where the site is located on your hard drive)

Removing a site definition to manage the Sites simply remove knowledge of Dreamweaver site location.

But if you have set wrong just level files, just change the existing site definition and locally, set the appropriate folder. It's nothing more than that.

To delete the contents of the real site, you must:

    (1) intentionally remove a file (or files) via the Panel files DW

    or

    (2) remove the files with your operating system (excluding DW).

Option 2) is not recommended. Use option 1) and DW will load your management of links in your web pages for you.

  • Create new site

I'm new to UCM / Site Studio. I have the site installed example which works fine, but when I use Site Studio to create a new site, the immediate error I get is:

Cannot create new site hierarchy "NewSite".

(Invalid metadata for 'SS_PROJECT_NewSite'. Virtual folder does not exist.)

What happens here? I also tried to get around by creating a project to weblogic user different, but who gave Site Studio is just that buggy?

Have you defined the default metadata for new sites? Under the administration Menu > Studio Site Administration > metadata by default of the project...

If you have, you have a record of contribution it doesn't exist anymore?

  • Creating new site cause app to quit smoking

For these last two days, after the upgrade to iTunes on internet software, DW closes as soon as I created a new site, connected to the new server and click OK to close the window of creating site. No other new installs. Restarting the computer several times, but the resignations continue.

If I trash preferences, will I lose all my FTP site features existing? Preferences trashing help? Any other suggestions?

  • How can I create a Second Site, which is a subfolder in an existing Site?

Previous webmaster leaves abruptly.  I inherited the mess.

There are a number of 'sites' that are not real sites, but the subfolders located on the main site.

I have the main site with success defined in Dreamweaver CS6.  Everything works as expected.  I am trying to create a new site that is a subfolder of the main site.  Dreamweaver warns me against that, for reasons that are not clear, but I can think of a lot of potential problems.

Then, next thing I try is to create a local site that is NOT a subfolder, but a peer folder in the main local site.  I set the remote instance as subfolder of the remote site. When I do that, the new site works very well.  Yay.  But the former site is now broken.  When I try to watch its remote instance, I get this error message:

If I delete the newly created site and restart Dreamweaver all is forgiven.  I tried this several times with the same results.

    Any thoughts?

    > Once I have the drive mapped to the directory with all the files in Web site, I could define my subsites in DW

    OK, that makes sense.

    > This works, as long as I spend on the DW website that corresponds to the subsite (site1, site2, training3, etc...).

Good, not perfect, but workable. Unless some reason why they managed it as separate sites, it must be simplified at some point. It would be easy to do fairy but you would need to move the school to the root level templates and add a link to the child pages. Whenever you mess with the templates there is potential for problems to wait until someone else takes the role is probably prudent.

  • Difficulty from a new site in Dreamweaver

Hi, I'm pretty new to all this. I'm trying to launch a new site, but when I click on "site", "new site" and give my site a name and a folder (which is on my desk, just find "new folder"), I'm going to save and I get the error message:

"The root folder you have chosen is within the site 'animated gif test' folder. This may cause certain operations, such as the synchronization to work incorrectly. Still? »

The confusing is that 'animated gif test' is a file I created weeks ago. Any file I selects, apparently to try to save this file, essentially making it so that I can't create a new site. Does anyone know how can I fix?

Do you have a site defined for "test of animated gif? You can remove it from DW (the site definition, no files)?

I find it's usually wrong when people sites on their desktop, especially when they are inexperienced. What I would say that you consider creating a folder called Web Sites in your documents folder. Then each new site you generate would root a folder in the Web Sites folder, for example.

    C:/Documents/websites/website has

    C:/Documents/Sites Web-Site B

    C:/Documents/Sites Web-Site C

    etc.

    Make sense?

  • V6.1 - navigation bar in model - how to copy to the new site

With the help of V61. patched uptodate: in the past, I created a page template that had only the navigation bar. Later, I created a new site and wanted to just take the already built on the old site navigation bar and use it in the new. I have either:
-copied the page of the model to the new site
    or
-the navigation bar copied and pasted into a new page in the new site
I remember is no longer. I then modified the various images/up/down/etc. to reflect the new site navigation bar needs.

This worked very well, but now I need to change the bar. When I change this model, click on the navigation bar, select Edit, Navigation bar, it brings information on the navigation bar Original with all properties and the old button elements. Given that the two sites are on the same machine that I suspect it is somehow the link back to the old nav bar and I dare not play with it. I looked in the code section, but I don't see info here on what he thinks, what is the default for this navigation bar / model page and I can't find anything in the menus, help or KB on how to change what DW's default navigation bar.

Clearly the way in which I copied it was bad and maybe at this point there is no way to recover. But I wonder if I can somehow copy or record the esscence my new navigation bar, remove the entire model and a new, and then paste in my navigation again without having somehow remember all it's illicit past.

    Any thoughts appreciated,
    Alan D.

Heh, heh. Sorry, I recommend an NSAID and call me in the morning.

The entire site was "an exercise for the student" and started through tutorials of DW which indicated that I really should be using templates and cascading style sheets. Needless to say, say it anyway, it wasn't a total success. Leaving all that behind and the thanks bye for the advice, I'll look into your suggestions, my problem is that I can't change this in DW's navigation bar. If I select and try to change, rather than the navigation bar that you see on the site of solar data, the basic dunwellguitar.com site navigation bar happens instead. I had hoped to find a way to migrate or change the problem without having to rebuild. Give what you have already said, it seems that it would be prudent spend time-time to rebuild properly.

Thanks again for the suggestions and sorry for retinal damage.
    Alan D.

  • Some sites create a new directory on the hard drive. How to prevent this?

Some web sites such as www.chron.com and www.pddnet.com create a new folder on the hard disk and writing. This is absolutely unacceptable. After each internet session I delete them. It seems that the developers of Firefox would be quite concerned about security not to have allowed this "feature" or at least make the site permission to create the directory. Web sites shouldn't have arbitrary write access. (Linux debian 6.0).

It seems that the video player is the cause. I have a low-speed DSL connection and the video player is put to download the file, so I can watch it later. It didn't occur to me that the sites Web regularly could play movies automatically as they do not appear in time real.

Thank you very much for the help.
