Creating files for printing

Hello

I recently moved from Quark to InDesign, and I also started using a new digital printing company. The printer asks that all illustrations should be provided in CMYK pdf (no spot colors) and as I'm new to InDesign I was wondering if there is a way to create colors CMYK spot colors, or if there is a way to do this when you create a file of pdf print ready.

Thank you!

".Joboptions" predefined PDF file out printers and ask them how to install (it's just the file > PDF and load presets and select the joboptions file) #.

It will be at contail all necessary data from the printers for a specific PDF according to the criteria (I hope).

You can then use this "PDF SETTING" for all work of this printing company.

Method 1:

In the output section of "file > export > PDF (print)" there is a thing called "Ink Manager" click on it and then select "Convert all colors to CMYK" and also select "use of Lab values."

This will make all CMYK spot colors!

Method 2:

You can also access the ink Manager, of the ' window > swatches "and there is a submenu on the swatches Panel (top-right) where you can access the ink Manager.

Method 3:

-You can select all the Spot colors in the color chart (making sure that you have selected nothing actively on the work) and then double-click

Change:

Color type: process

Color mode: CMYK

(note that you can't change 'Black' 'Paper' or 'Registration' therefore select those)

  • Create a very large file for printing

    Hello world

I need to create a VERY BIG file for printing.  The final print will be 148 "height x 124" wide. I tried to find a way to build it. I created all the graphics vector and enlarge the photos to a size that can be included, but whenever I try to create this file it fills the disk of my work and I can't perform no action.  I also tried to create in Illustrator, but I'm not too good with Illustrator that I am Photoshop and honestly have NO idea how to proceed.

Anyone can guide me please thanks to this? It is due to this evening and I'm really at a huge loss.

    Thank you in advance!

OK this isn't a huge size - but if you are struggling on your system with it, you could do like Mellissa and build it in stages, thereby minimizing the layers in the final assembly.  You could also work in 8 bits rather than 16 bits to assemble the image print - it will be half of the memory required.

  • How can I save my files for printing?

I can't find out how to save a file for printing. The file must be transferred to a company that prints your photos on glass (Fracture) they want the file between 16-20MB. Whenever I save it, it is too big. Of course, I want to be high resolution, so I put that at 300 DPI. (resampled to 72). Help, please.

I think that you will be very disappointed with the results if you use a 1867 x 1200 for this image.

When you resample an image, Photoshop has invent the missing pixels, and in this case, the majority of the pixels in the image will have to be invented.

If the image is from a digital camera, get your hands on the original, which is can be much larger.

According to the homepage of Fracture, they want a 6480 x 8460 image at 300ppi for your format.

300 DPI is probably overkill for this size, my guess is that 180 dpi might be enough.

In this case, the image must be 4320 x 5760, which is what would produce a 24 megapixels.

You might even get away with upsampling an image from a camera megapixels 15 or 16 years.

Ask what they think of the Fracture.

Regarding the 20 MB limit, save the file in jpg format, and then choose the highest quality that will not exceed 20 MB.

To get a better understanding of how how digital images work, take a look at this page: which is a digital image?

  • Question about preparing files for printing from Photoshop

I need to understand the best way to save for print from Photoshop. Here are the things that are confusing to me:

Problem: When I create a design in Photoshop, I find myself with a few options on how to save my document. I would like to know which of the following statements is the best method:

Method 1: create a PDF, and embed the fonts. This method, which worries me because I read that some fonts will not be open on the end of beneficiaries because of restrictions imposed by the manufacturer of the police. I should be concerned or is embedding fonts the best route to take?

Method 2: Convert all types of forms. This method seems to be the most secure, but I read problems related to this road as well. A site commented that having too much text converted into forms can cause extremely long print times. Is this true?

Another problem I encountered with the conversion of text in forms is when I have a paragraph that has more than one color of text... convert forms converts just one color. I would like to know a work around that. Currently, I create separate layers for different text colors and try to align them manually... a lot of your time. I know that InDesign would be best for this kind of thing, but Photoshop works very well for me, asside from this little thing).

Method 3: Flatten my whole design (text and everything) at 300 dpi. My text will look like flattening crunchy at this resolution?

Thanks to all who can help clarify this for me. I read so much incompatible information online that I don't know what to think.

It would be great if there were a being all put an end to all the applications that actually everything we dream in one application. Maybe someday, but it's not the reality at this point. There is no IllustPhotoDesigner, so we need to deal with what we have to work with. It beats paper and pens, at times, but it has limits as well.

In fact, In Design is much easier to use then Photoshop. You take the tool like Photoshop and type text. You place the images using the place command. You create PDF files by exporting to PDF or use the print dialog box.

Photoshop is great for editing images of several kinds. Text is not really one of them unless you perform a text as a graphic you want to create an image in the text.  Creating a paragraph of text ends usually soft because if you're setting type in Photoshop, you are dealing with the resolution of the file so that if you type set In Design, you are not limited to the resolution of files, but the resolution of the device output you print on.

  • Avoiding Rich black in the files for printing

Situation: One our vendors with which I work is printed paper, which suggests no black rich in PDF files or files HAVE.

Problem: Despite a palette limited (in which I use 100% black, white and a range of primary colors), the definition both a Rich Black element seems to find its way files in my working file HAVE (and there PDF for printing). I noticed this happened sometimes when I copy the text (or elements of black color) since another file I and then paste the items into the file, I'm working on that. It seems to happen only a few times. Outside by clicking on each black element - to research on the artboard and it controls in the color window to see only the black is 100% and CMY are all 0%, it is a surefire way to avoid the intense black in every capacity (especially in the fine print)? I saw the appearance of the black panel, but which seems to deal only with the screen devices and output RGB.

Any help or advice is appreciated! I would like to solve this problem.

  • How to prepare an Illustrator file for printing white text on a black t-shirt?

There is no graphics, just text. The finished product is going to be a white text on a red t-shirt.

What are the steps of preparation of an Illustrator file for this purpose, and what should I do before sending it to the printer off?

    Thank you.

I call or send your printer and him asking the same question. There are several ways to indicate a white ink, it would be good to know their preference. My guess is that they will ask you to provide a PDF file with black text and indicate somewhere what to print white ink. They might prefer a .eps file. An illustration of a white T-shirt red type in the desired location and size would also help ensure that you get what you want.

  • Is there a way to package a file for printing? Also help on cutting parameters?

    Hello!

I got myself a little above my head, I work at a very small company. I'm the only one with the experience of design, and being a little fresh out of College, until this work, I had no print experience. So every time I have send something for them, I learn something new. Usually the files that I send are created in InDesign, however.

I designed a rectangular sign with a triangle at the top, and so I am preparing the file to send to the printer for cutting. I've reached out to them and asked how to prepare, and the response was very short "draw the shape you want, make a rule overlay where you want to cut. Extend bleed beyond the cut lines. "But I wasn't quite sure what understand so I looked, and I created a cutout of the layer which is the form of the full cutting in a bright color, not found anywhere on the document itself. Is that correct?

    untitled.JPG

Secondly, there is text, so I wanted to package the file just like I would in InDesign. In general I send a pdf, but not course a pdf would work with it since the Red covers the area that need to be printed. So therefore why I wanted to package the file to go in case I have not properly prepared for them.

She must have just a stroke and not filled in?

Sorry that if long, but I try to explain carefully from the beginning. Thanks for any help!

You should start the project and design with cut to shape in mind. In any case if it's easier the dieline with a related color pantone XYZ to draw/create and send to the printer: color pantone XYZ tell them is the line of die... they will know what to do.

  • XSD file control printing

    Hi all

I have an obligation to provide a file for print control for my client to the XSD format, a file for each report that you created.

After studying at length I have not found a way to do this. I can make it appear different output formats when I schedule a report but I do not get an XML or XSD type.

Anyone know where I can find a resource to show how I can create these files on the BEEP? I have already researched the w3schools site & have a handle on what it should be, but can't find anything on the implementation through BIP.

    Thank you.

    It's my first thought:
It will not be perfect 100% but will give you almost the full xsd you need.
I used XMLPAD (open source). It can create a XSD based on an XML file. Yes, treat

  • Highlighting of certain parts of the Web page for printing

I have a problem highlighting items to save to a file for printing of Web pages (specifically the text). If I pressed the left mouse button to highlight the text, the page is not auto scroll where the text is off the screen. An example is here:
    http://sonalacant.blogspot.com/search/label/agenda

Ideas please, because it means I have to go back to IE for certain pages?

Click on the first letter of the syntax you want to save (you will see nothing appear on the screen), then scroll down to the last letter of the sentence or paragraph, hold the SHIFT key and click on it. This will highlight everything between the two. Then CTRL + C to copy.

Works in any browser or document.

  • Creation of collages for printing.

Hi I'm new to Photoshop. My daughter gave me 8 items long and I just downloaded it (was afraid to do so where it has pulled all my thousands of pictures of my photos picture of Windows in their unedited form (like Picasa don't me Age there).) I have finally taken the plunge and am now trying to get my head around the program. The main thing I liked Picasa was that I could create collages and manipulate pictures of different arrangements and could then print these. I want to do some doilies with collages of pictures of wild flowers. Elements 8 can create collages for printing, and the photos in the collage can be rearranged?

To answer your last question... Yes and Yes!

PSE has the tools to automatically create collages. You can also manually create one by adding photos to a blank template. In both cases that the photos will appear on separate layers that you can resize and then individually, rearrange, rotate, overlap, etc. You can crop them all you want, add effects, such as borders, frames, shadows and add text inside or outside the pictures shape.

    Here's an example I created.
