CS3 Too many Activations

Hi all

After several years of not using CS, I'm trying to reinstall my suite CS3 on my current computer.

When I try to activate using my original software keys (one for Acrobat Pro, one for the CS Suite), I got the error message "too many Activations" and am directed to enter another key or buy a new product.

I attempted to use the Adobe Chat support, but was first transferred to volume license, and then says CS3 was is longer supported via Chat support (both times after long discussions and waiting and having provided software keys and version numbers at the front).

Because I have more access to the (much longer) machine, on which it was installed, I have no way to disable. And without the support of someone from Adobe in order to reset the activation counter, it looks like I'm stuck buying another copy :-/

Any suggestions?

Adobe support should help you.  Sometimes you get a person who does not know how to help or even that they should help.  Retry.

    Since your CS3 is a volume serial number license it will work to activate the version of CS3 volume. It won't work for the retail version because the Setup is different. Please download the installation via the site Licensing media: Adobe worldwide license purchase?

    I am trying to create an image of deployment for a secondary school and the difficulties to activate our site license for CS3 Web Premium, I get the error "too many activations.

    Adobe allows two simultaneous activations of CS3, so if the software has been installed and enabled on both computers before, you will need to disable one or both of them to perform a new installation. On the old computer, start a CS3 application. From the Help menu choose Help > Deactivate > permanently disable: Learn how to enable or disable Adobe applications.

    If you do not have access to old computers to disable, you will need to contact customer service via chat and ask them to reset your activations. Cat representatives are unable to technical troubleshooting for older products like CS3, but they can help with licensing and activation. FYI, Adobe have reset your activations will delete the information about the licenses of all your computers, so you'll need to reactivate the computers currently in use.

  • CS3 Web Premium "too many activations" error

    We have 8 volume of Web Premium CS3 licenses using the same license key. These were all installed on computers that are running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

    Recently, we had to switch to new machines and uninstalled the software without realizing it had to be disabled everything first.  Now, when you try to install the software we are presented with the error message "too many activations.

    After reading online we tried to reinstall the software on the original machines in order to turn them off but are presented with the same "too many activations" error if this is not possible either.

    We contacted Adobe support on the phone and via online chat, but they were of no help and suggested that we talk to the experts on the Adobe forum.

    Is it possible for the latter to be disabled by Adobe so that we can install the software on the new machine?

    CS3 is not supported in terms of Technical Support. Activation is a totally different issue.

    Back on the phone and ask to speak with the supervisor of a supervisor, until you get someone who understands your problem is activation. There is no time limit on the support of activation.

    And no, there is absolutely nothing that anyone on these forums can do to help with activation limit issues.

    We are sorry to hear of this frustrating experience. I just checked your CS3 serial number and found that it is a volume license number. When you reinstalled you installed from the original DVD? You have access to our site Licensing? Adobe Licensing Web site. Serial numbers | Orders | Accounts

    Because the licenses products use no activation (which explains some of the answers from the chat agent and confusion), looks like you were installing a regular version of CS3, not the version of licenses.

  • LR6 will not install on my laptop, too many activations

    I installed Lightroom on two computers, I so disliked, I their revenue to uninstall Lightroom factory configuration and returned the computers to the retailer. I then installed Lightroom on a desktop without a problem, but when I installed on the laptop that I bought it told too many activations. I have returned laptops that I didn't like, I have only one laptop and one desktop computer now, how can I get the LR6 to install on my laptop? I don't have access to the first two portable computers that I wiped clean and returned. I guess my mistake was, I uninstalled the LR6 but do not deactivate the license.

    How can I activate Indesign? I get an error of too many activations, but there is no way to disable the copy I replaced. The Mac on which it is descended, and the hard disk is not readable.
