  You can have both versions installed, because they do NOT replace each other. Now, some file Associations are likely to go to the new version, but that's how I want that it anyway.

  I suggest that when an upgrade, they keep the old version to perform all work rush, as they learn the new version. When the learning curve has been flattened and you become comfortable with the new version, then uninstall should be all that is needed.

  I don't remember reading of uninstalling an older version of PS affecting the most recent installation. However, with Adobe Premiere Pro, it WAS a problem with uninstalling CS 3, after 4 CS had been installed. There are some files and folders, which went 'poof,' with the uninstallation of the CS 3 Commons. It was just a mistake on the part of engineers. Whatever it took to get PrPro CS 4 back up and functioning properly is a repair installation of CS 4 - again, which should not have happened. With the PS, I had often several versions installed and have never had one problem - I don't read at all with the current versions either.

Once a Windows fatal accident forced me to reinstall all my applications, I can't reinstall the upgrade of the CS6, because CS4 serial number is not recognized as valid. What should I do to restore the validity of my CS4?

  Adobe support can only deal with this so you will have to come back with someone in the chat to resolve the issue.  Don't forget to provide your file number.  Good luck.

  You haven't don't need CS4 to install CS6 (Upgrade). The serial numbers for the old and the new version will be enough.

  During the installation of the CS6 Setup invites you to enter the serial number previous version and the current version number.

  Enter the respective serial numbers when prompted and it should be good :-)

  If you bought CS4 CS6 & as a retail versions that will workin a box. A retail version Setup program is independent of the previous version installed on the machine that is it not will inspire you to enetr the previous version serial number during the installation.

• CS6 upgrade problem

  My Photoshop CS6 upgrade does not accept an installed Photoshop CS3, despite a message on a label of yellow bar code on the end of the box saying the following versions are eligible: Photoshop CS3, CS4, CS5 and Photoshop Extended CS3, CS4, CS5. White sticker, another on the side says that I must have a valid serial number for version CS5, CS4 or CS3.x of this product. CS3 has not yet been activated, is the reason why or is there another problem? The CS3 box has a blue cover, not a multicolor. I can provide if necessary serial numbers. I use Windows 7. Thank you.

  Actualyl you did it wrong by install CS3 without a serial number. The upgrade Setup will looking for a specific set of files that product activation. If possible, you can try to activate. Otherwise you could try the opposite - Uninstall CS3, run the Creative Suite cleanup tool, remove the caps.db in the folder selections and only install CS6. Then it should only ask the CS3 serial for verification in the second step...

  I have CS4 Web Premium.  While I was still eligible, I bought the upgrade to CS6 Web and Design Premium (it is a volume license).  It is best to uninstall CS4 can install CS6, or is it better to intall CS6 overtop of the CS4?

  CS6 does not install on top of cs4.

  If you want to uninstall cs4, you can uninstall it.  If you do this, you will be asked your cs4 serial number during the installation of your cs6 upgrade.

  If you want to use cs4, do not uninstall it.  If it is installed when you install cs6, you be asked cs4 serial number.

  I just upgraded to CS4 - CS6 and have noticed the filters are not the same, anyone know how to import filters CS4 CS6 please?

  Are you talking about the filter as art gallery, Brush Strokes etc not being is not on the list of filters photoshop cs6?

  You can go to (Edit) Photoshop > Preferences > Plug-Ins and check show all names and groups of the Gallery of filters.

  Restart photoshop to make the changes take effect.

  Bought the student/teacher version of CS5.5 within the free upgrade period (April 13 or 14th) on Adobe.com. I have yet to receive the CS6 upgrade email (currently June 1) and there is less then 5 days left on the CS6 trial. Many requests for support and discussions simply responded that I am approved but wait enamel. I have recently been informed after talking with someone, that I have not received the e-mail of upgrade because it is blocked by identity-e, despite the fact that the evidence of enrolment was provided directly through adobe.com and my profile indicates that the eligibility of the student/teacher runs until October 2012. Asked by the live person at Adobe to just send proof of identity-e, and that the update email will be sent. This has been done and I have still not heard anything e-identity, and there is no way to verify anything with them without a product code (which I have not since it was a digital download). It's extremely frustrating and a wrong way to do business. I don't know when or if it will never resolve. It was never the intention to buy CS5.5, but for the free offer, which was made for CS6 as well - we really would have just waited and bought CS6 when it came out there were not the offer. Now nerarly a month after that CS6 shipped of our trial version expires and is no longer, we will be able to use CS6. I don't know what else can be done or if others have worked through this strange experience?

  Thank you, Jeff, for looking into this. On a bright note, the serial number just shown in my inbox at the start of the Friday evening June 1, from the Adobe Store - just out of the blue. Not sure that the block was, or why there was a block, but I am happy that it is now resolved. Thank you to Adobe is a very large organization, and I don't know there is a reason for what happened, but I do not profess to understand what it was.

• CS6 Upgrade on Win7 64 bit installation issues

  I bought the upgrade to CS4 CS6 Design and Web Premium versions.  I tried 4 times now to install, with varying degrees of success.  The first attempt installed nearly half of the products and gave a list of egregious errors. The second installed everything except Acrobat and InDesign. Subsequent attempts to install only these two additional programs always give a "Setup Failed" and a seemingly common problem through all the latest versions and operating systems of the Installer do not access to certain files/folders.

  EDIT: The installer has also always said that the machine needs to reboot, when it comes to be restarted and certainly does not!  I continue anyway.

  I already deleted the Temp folder with no difference, and NIS2012 is disabled during installation.

  Any ideas of how to get these last two vital programs to install please?

  It seems that if you have a very similar problem to the one I had before you run the cleanup utility (that you ran).

  I finally got my Acrobat to install by running again the installation, accepting the single selection Acrobat and, then, the important thing for me, using a BACK level administrator window command to deliver a "net stop spooler"to the point that the Adobe installer said it was "stop services system" and then, a little while later , a "net start spooler" when he said he tried to re - start.

  He got the product in version installed and work, but, unfortunately, the same trick does not work when I run the update, so I am stuck currently impossible to install any security (or other) updates for Acrobat X.

  I'm sure this has something to do with the appropriate rights to start and stop system services and wish just that Adobe would allow individual installers run explicitly so that they have the appropriate privileges.  Unfortunately they do not, probably to make sure you install the entire suite on a single machine, but their online activation should covering anyway.

  I must say that I am disgusted that a product at this price level could have a such laminated Installer!

  I recently bought the CS6 Design Standard upgrade version to upgrade my existing CS5.5 Design Premium. Installation went much until I got a message that my installation of CS5.5 isn't a product approved for upgrade.   I ordered/paid for the CS6 upgrade, and download of 5.8 GB guard abandoned on.  Is there a way to re-launch a download so I can start where it left off instead of restart download of 5.8 GB from the beginning?  I am currently on my third try.  First interrupted the 1.7 GB, the second try to 2.0 GB.
