  Everyone says to layer > layer Style > Style settings.

  But when I go to the layer Style and tries to access the Style settings, Style settings is grayed out.   (The text in question is already selected.)

  Style settings is adjust the styles you've already added. The effects that you have listed are all filters, no effects or the layer styles and they use the foreground/background colors, then Yes, they will change the color of your text. To apply a drop shadow click the button layer styles in the effect controls panel, choose shadows in the menu drop-down and double click on the one you want. If you do not, cancel and try another. Then you should be able to set things like the angle and the distance of the shadow by adjusting the style settings.

  I wrote by hand and scanned a text, open in Photoshop CS6 and reversed tones to create white letters on a black background.  I made this file in Avid Media Composer and it superimposed on an image using a luma key to key on black.  Now, I want to add a small drop shadow to the text to make it more readable when it is bunk.  How can I do this in Photoshop before importing the file in Media Composer?  I realize I have to use an alpha channel, rather than a luma key, in this case, but I have no idea how to do to create the PS file with shadows on the letters.  I think I can learn the procedure to make a layer alpha from online sources.  I would be grateful for any guidance.

  Without having seen the digitized text I am not sure that the following technique is appropriate. That said, consider this approach, assuming that the scanned manuscript text is on white paper:

  1. open the file. The text is the background layer

  2 stir its background lock in the trash

  3 hold down the command key and click the new layer at the bottom of the layers panel. He will place a white layer under the text layer.

  4. the background layer is layer 0.  Select layer 0.

  5 double-click the layer color 0 in the layers panel to get the layer Style menu area

  6 down below is the "Mix" box if are two gray scales. Move the slider to the right of the grey scale top of the page toward the left and the White Book of your scanned text layer will become transparent. Click OK.

  

  7 Cmd + E to combine the layer

  8. at this point, you can place a layer below your text layer. Edition > fill with white.

  9, return the text layer and - once more the use of the layer-Layer Style - apply the drop shadow. (Clicking the shadow option will provide additional controls.)

  These features are not available for text in web browsers. They must be converted into images.

  If I want to add pictures to the location of the cursor in the text box, I need to use EditManager insertInlineGraphic. But insertInlineGraphic offers no parameter to control how an image is placed in the text, such as baselineShift.
  While InlineGraphicElement allows me to well control on image added how is placed in the text through properties such as baselineShift, but then there is no way to add this InlineGraphicElement object newly created as the location of the cursor in the text box!

  After you add the ILG, you can find the ILG element by textFlow.findLeaf (cursor location) as InlineGraphicElement and then change its attributes. Or you can just enjoy applyLeafFormat().

  FindLeaf is an important function for navigation in the TLF.

• Shadow on the text box - CS4

  I'm setting up a shadow on a text box, but the shadow through the text shows.  The effect I want is essentially a shadow on the right side of the box and the other at the bottom, do not show through the text.  I have attached a screenshot.

  Obviously, I have something wrong, but I played with the settings of 'transparency' and nothing has changed.

  Double click on the text on the right side of the display panel does not cause a dialog box open. I just need to know where the dialog box is so I can add the drop shadow

  Please make sure that you double-click on the text layer in the layer panel not the name of the layer. With the text, it can be difficult if the name is too long. You can also right-click on the text layer in the Panel and bring up the contextual menu and select 'blending Options '.

  

• InDesign CS4 crashes when converting 1-column text box with a drop shadow to the col-2 (or more)

  I use InDesign CS4 in Windows XP Pro 64-bit, 6 GB of RAM. If I create a column 1 text box, fill it with a color, add a drop shadow, and then add text, everything is fine. If I try to change it to 2-columns (or), InDesign freezes/crashes. I thought at first that it is perhaps because the case was shot, but it happens even if the case is not turned. If I remove the shadow and try to change it, it works.

  Anyone know why this is happening or if there is a known bug or fix?

• What is the 'right' way to add a partial outline / shadow to the text? And when outline you text?

  This is part of a book cover, I do it for a project that will move to a digital printing press. I like the combination of white and blue green, but I wanted to add a little more punch, so I added the part contour black.

  

  Issues related to the:

  (1) is there a way to right way/wrong to do this? I simply made a copy of the live black text, then sent behind the white copy and pushed him down and more. Is there a reason why it's a lower approach to the use of a shadow effect?

  (2) currently, all text is still alive. Should I change it to outlines before the last PDF to send to the printer?

  Shadow wouldn't be too good, because it causes the pixelation.

  But you can create a fill of the text object in the appearance Panel. Move it below the characters. Apply the effect > Distort & transform > Transform to move down and to the right.

  In this way, the text can be changed easily if necessary

  When you create the PDF file for printing just incorporate the police. Should happen automatically if you do not change the embed settings

  Is it possible to add the drop shadow to plan views of vehicles (vehicles are like MovieClips png images) such as as vehicles change along the roads (also the png images) the shadow is still projected to the North West ot the vehicle? Buildings in the basic png image have shadows but vehicles must also to be part of the scene and seems wrong.

  I piece of text with a drop shadow on top inside a box that has a shadow. In both cases, the shadows are CMYK black, with an opacity of 100%, applied using the Multiply method.

  I want to know is how to make sure the result is such that it should be the latter, but without the white line, i.e. without flattening. • Having ID CS5 add/remove pages of conditional text

  I have a file of 100 pages with a simple structure ID:

  • block a text per page
  • threading in a story frame is always on the next page
  • each of the 8 chapters is its own history

  I recently started to add conditional text. All text is "unconditional" or "Gold" or "diamond". The length of a chapter/story of the "Diamond" status can run up to 2 pages more 'Gold '.

  I think I've seen in a training video that it is possible to have InDesign CS5, add pages at the end of a stoy, if the text in the history is longer than the number of pages... and remove empty at the end of a stoy pages when empty pages. And this works automatically when you turn on and turn off conditional text, even in the middle of the story (i.e. several pages before the end of the thread).

  Basically, I want to turn off text diamond, have all reflow and white pages disappear until I have create the PDF Gold. Then I stop the Golden text (and turn on the text of diamond) and have everything reflow and necessary pages appear before as I create the PDF of diamond. Reinvest it works well, but the automatic add/remove pages does not occur.

  If this is indeed possible, how do I set that up? I tried a few settings but not him have yet to get to work.

• The best way to make a moving shadow on the text?

  I was screwing around this afternoon and thought I'd try to make some movements of the shadow.  It doesn't seem to be easier than I expected.  You can see my results here; http://gtwebconcepts.com/Aptera/Misc/Shadow.html

  Basically, I typed in a text and put layer1

  Copied on layer 2 and put a filter drop shadow on it.

  Then I hid the text so that only the shadow was showing and converted into a clip.

  I did a small bulb and place it on the layer 3 and converted in a clip.

  Created a Tween movement on layers 2 and 3.

  The shadow layer that I free turned away from the light.

  It seemed OK when I dragged through the time line, but the movie is terrible.  He is not correctly aligned with this horrible break in the middle of the interpolation (among others).

  There must be a better way to do this.  Anyone care to enlighten us?

  You can do using actionscript to control a drop shadow filter (which has a property of the angle that you can coordinate with the movement of a lamp).  Check the help under dropshadowfilter files.
