CSS - my div is ignored

I created a div in another div I did to make the font bigger for a phase and a different color.  It seems correct in design mode, but not in direct mode or when I transfer to the server.  The police is much smaller and the color is black instead of Brown.  For the life of me, I can't understand something that is so simple.

Help!

Thank you.

Don

I do it in code because it's faster. But you can use the CSS editor / designer of panels (depending on your version of DW).

  • Good overview pages in DW, but the CSS seems to be ignored on the Web site online

    It's very basic, but I can't understand it.  I'm the webmaster for a site with 15 pages very simple successor.   The site has some layout problems that correct, and I've rewritten pages containing more than one CSS based layout since I don't understand the original layout based on the tables (among other reasons).  I used the pre-fab DW twoColFixedLtHdr.css layout.  Re-written pages look good in the DW and look fine in Safari and Firefox. The pages looked like not good once I downloaded, so I replaced the pages with the originals.  It seems that the style sheet is ignored.  I changed the name of the CSS property to "newstylesheet" to get the letters and looked on all close but not is not the question.

    It is a sample page. http://living4zachary.org/whowearetestpage.html

    None of the CSS formatting is there, particularly the left side bar should have a black blackground and the main text should wrap around it since the sidebar is floated to the left.

    On the site of the host, all of the html pages are in a subdirectory called public_html. The newstylesheet.css file is a first level, just behind the main root.

    Here is the code, have been postponed in a temple, attach style sheet:

    "" < link href = "... / newstylesheet.css" rel = "stylesheet" type = "text/css" / >

    Here's the set up at the beginning of the sidebar code:

    < div class = "newstylesheet" id = "sidebar1″" > <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "SidebarLinks"--> < a href = "index.html" > home < /a >

    < div id = "mainContent" > <!-InstanceBeginEditable name = "MainContentArea"->

    I don't think that the problem is in this code, since DW is perfectly happy with it.  Somehow, the css is associated with the page on DW, but not on the server.

    This has really baffled me.  Can someone help me please?

    Here is a picture of the root directory on the server host, where you can see the newstylesheet.css and the public_html directory containing all the live pages and the whowearetestpage:

    http://65.60.9.34:2082/frontend/x3/filemanager/index.html?dirselect=homedir & domainselect l = iving4zachary.org & dir = % 2Fhome % 2Flivingz1 & showhidden = 1 #

    I do not see any image that you tried to understand, but I think you said that you planted the CSS out of the public folder html... try to move the css file in the public_html folder and change the url of your file to this location.  I don't know that the files on the client side can access outside of the folder public html files as server-side can... in fact, I hope that they cannot for security reasons.

  • Divs wrapper ignoring edge Animate

    Hey guys

    I have a responsive design in Dreamweaver with animation animate edge in there.

    The animation is scaling of the size of the browser window, however

    It ignores the divs that it is in. So, when I scale the browser down it

    is scaling, but outside the div boundaries it is nested in.

    I tried to turn the div wrapper in block display with border-box

    size box however it does not work. Any suggestions would be muchly

    appreciated. Thank you

    You must add an option so that the code inserted by Dreamweaver for the oam file in the Dreamweaver html page:

    opts var = {}

    bScaleToParent: true,

    scaleToFit: "height",

    centerStage: "none."

    minW: "0."

    maxW: "undefined."

    Width: "550px"

    height: "400px".

    };

    Hello

    Try to remove the height of your CSS properties, if you set a height
    and the content has a height over that he runs outside of the div, as it
    It is supposed to. IE6 and older is bad and expands the div
    regardless of the height and value property.

  • CSS &amp; lt; div &amp; gt; Tags

    Hi people,
    I have a quick questions that expected to be resolved easily. I created websites using divs, the usual 'notices' / 'navi' / 'content' / 'footer '. Divs margins are set to 0 for the top and the bottom. My querie is in IE the Divs "end-to-end upwards" to each other but in FF/Safari/Mozilla, there is a gap - is there a way to get the pages look the same? I tried to play with the margins and had no joy. I even tried to create another Div tag to include the 'navi/content' to see if it would "squeeze upward" - what did not work in the desired-browsers ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi guys,.

    I was persistent with this problem and worked! Oh happy days! p

    Question, why the Earth cant all browsers have the same protocols and behaviors to look at one? Although I must admit there a certain satisfaction is gained when you train stuff!

    Murray * ACE * you can me remember but you advised me to get CSS books, I've read through (a Sitepoint & other by aPress) - I have to say thank you to gain additional knowledge in the present. But I don't ask for any Q - I'll just try not to ask all those 'basic' now! ;)

  • width of the div are ignored

    Salvation;

    I'm settng a new site at http://www.marketingguy.biz/Wooddale/index.html . I put the div container to 850px. It works fine on my pc and 19 "wide and 22" screens. However when I saw today on a 22 '' wide screen the customer (using IE), it is more than 100% wide. all that it has been stretched and distorted.

    What I'm missing here?

    Thank you;

    The client browser has mounted beyond the default Zoom.  Essentially Zoom gives browsers the ability to make elastic sites when you increase the size of text.  It is people use, and others do not.

    Add an IE conditional comment to your web pages.  Place it below the tag.

  • try to give a sense of div and css tags

    I know I'm a few years late here, but I'm looking to do ot the migration using tables and transition to css and DIV tags I looked at some tutorials on you tube and I'm trying to figure it all out.

    Please tell me if this is correct.  a div tag is basically a table and css is what is used to style this div tag to meet your needs, this is a correct assumption?

    If you go to my current site www.tankinz.com , you can clearly see that site is composed of paintings, essentially these areas or tables contain a different element or a package a customer can click on and buy.  using div tags and css would be each of these boxes, or their own div tables?

    Sorry to seem a little silly but I'm trying to make sense of it all.

    Help, please!

    There are a lot of video tutorials, all what you need to do is Google the topic. But none that I have met who is going at the same pace as the student.

  • Firefox does not take into account CSS rules that I put

    So, if you look at my site:

    http://leaveyourdailyhell.com

    In, say, Chrome and Firefox, you will see very different things. In Chrome, it seems I had intended; namely, the messages loop custom WordPress on the first page and the top of each "message" has correctly sized thumbnails, floated to the left. In other words, it obeys the CSS rules that I set. (And copy CSS I have, for the record, W3C validated - it came back perfect.)

    In Firefox, however, both of these div tags ignore CSS rules, I put. No floats; the images are their original sizes and, on the same page, where the band positions is supposed to have a custom background, it is not found. It is not even obey simple rules, such as the assignment of a custom color for the links. When I right click to inspect the elements, the CSS rules are not found!

    (And copy CSS I have, for the record, W3C validated - it came back perfect.)

    The validator displays 30 markup errors, 50 CSS3 CSS3 231 warnings and errors. The experimental unified validator returns 1763 CSS3 warnings.

  • The cursor does not not with the ID of the div?

    It works very well without div ID as below
    http://StackOverflow.com/questions/5210033/show-div-on-hover-with-only-CSS

    div {
    view
    : No

    :hover + div {
    view
    : block
    }

    <a>Hover over me!</a>
    <div>Stuff shown on hover</div>

    But after that I modified with the ID of the div, it does not work? How do works with div ID?

    {#2

    display: none;

    }

    #1:hover + {#2}

    display: block;

    < div id = "1" > hover over me! < / div >

    < div id = "2" > stuff shown in the overview < / div >

    May you not actually use #1 and #2 as the ID are you?

    (you cannot use numbers to begin the names of id or class)

    EDIT: it should work fine when you switch to valid identification names (make sure that you have a declared doctype or IE8 and earlier it will ignore).

  • Can I use data string Web App (image) in a CSS hover function?

    I'm developing a profile of employee of company "show and tell" using the Web application. I built my item in the list and details. Works very well. However, I have no hover function. So, I created a few css - one div id and added a background image then hover div with another image to hover. It worked. I moved the code of Dreamweaver in British Colombia - inside (the list template) Web application. I replaced the paths of the image with the data string Web App - image (e.g. {tag_employee photo}). Then I did the same thing to hover - I changed the image of the data string (e.g. {tag_employee photo2}). It does not work now.

    All CSS is written inside the body, so it's not pulling to the outside path. I thought that a path from the outside may not understand the data string.

    How can I get this to post a link with the chain of image data? Am I missing something?

    How can I create an image using CSS switch and function WITH the BC Web App data strings hover?

    Here's how I wrote the id of the DIV:

    I have a mystery of div tag I'm having long enough to understand. It's on side of divs on any page.  Since the upgrade to DW 2014, this problem started to occur. • How to apply CSS to a menu of BC

    Hello

    I did a lot of reading, went to BC gurus, watched Liam on Web Menu V2and post I'm still stumped on this one. The tutorial of BC and point of Liams gurus were well above my head.

    How do you apply CSS that you wrote to a menu of BC?

    I've set up a BC menu and put in. The type of menu is CSS (HTML)

    The menu items have a name, a link to the page height of the element of 30 and .menuLeft in CSS class name

    The model, that the menu is is reactive and bound to a stylesheet with the CSS code below inside.

    The menu is completely affected by the CSS in the stylesheet. All menu items have a point in front of them and look like the style of the default link for the site.

    The CSS below is therefore not affect menu items. Why is this?

    What stage of basic, simple I am missing here?

    How can I get the menu in British Colombia to pointed out the CSS below?

    I also tried to make the CSS in an id #menuLeft and put in the name of element ID field in each menu item. The CSS is still completely ignored. Why? (anguished cry)

    {.menuLeft}

    list-style-type: none;

    }

    .menuLeft ul {}

    list-style-type: none;

    padding: 5px;

    margin: 0px;

    line-height: 30px;

    border: thin solid #CCCCCC;

    border-radius: 3px;

    text-decoration: none;

    }

    .menuLeft li a: link {}

    color: #3F823D;

    text-decoration: none;

    }

    .menuLeft li a: visited {}

    text-decoration: none;

    color: #999999;

    background-color: #B9E09A;

    }

    .menuLeft Li a: hover {}

    color: #999999;

    text-decoration: underline;

    background-color: #B9E09A;

    }

    .menuLeft li a: active {}

    color: #999999;

    text-decoration: none;

    background-color: #B9E09A;

    }

    Mary,

    Get her out. before menuLeft in the element's Css class name.

  • div tag questions

    I'm learning available to tag CSS and div, go smoothly, so far. I can't understand it.

    Most of the time the divs set the 'blocks' (for lack of better term) exactly I would like it... usually. with a few exceptions.

    In my div 'footer' (gray), I want three separate blocks or div inside the footer div; a right, Center and left. (dark green boxes below). No matter what I try, my right div will not stay inside the footer. He falls below the footer div, but the "justified to the right", as I want. It is a screenshot in Safari the page layout.

    I scoured the html and css with no luck. I deleted the page and CSS file and started more than three times, to see if I was overlooking a mistake. No luck. This right div will not stay inside the footer DIV.

    This is my 4th attempt. See the three dark green blocks? The right we can't stay in the foot! (the css code is at the bottom of the page)

    body - light purple

    container div - light green

    header div - orange burned

    mainText - light blue

    footer - gray

    footer internal 3 div - dark green

    Second issue. See the clear green space between the footer (gray) and the maintext (light blue). How can I get rid of this? He does not appear in design view, but presents itself in Safari and Firefox. (also the light purple at the top).

    The CSS for this page below. Thanks for your help. I've been beating my head against the wall over this for a few days.

    #container {}
    background-image: none;
    min-width: 880px;
    Max-width: 1600px.
    margin: auto;
    padding: 0px;
    background-color: #6F3.
    }
    {#maintext}
    Width: 880px;
    margin-right: auto;
    left margin: auto;
    background-color: #69F;
    padding: 0px;
    }
    #footer {}
    Width: 880px;
    margin-right: auto;
    left margin: auto;
    background-color: #999;
    }
    #header {}
    background-color: #C63;
    }
    {#footerleft}
    background-color: #090;
    float: left;
    height: 100px;
    Width: 250px;
    }
    {#footercenter}
    height: 100px;
    Width: 250px;
    margin-right: auto;
    left margin: auto;
    background-color: #090;
    }
    {#footerright}
    background-color: #090;
    float: right;
    height: 100px;
    Width: 250px;
    }

    The space is caused by the browser by default on margin the

    tag.

    Add the following code to your stylesheet

    {p}

    margin: 0;

    padding: 10px;

    }

    Hello

    I found myself.

    In css, this div has been marked as: display 'none '.

    I removed it and now it's visselble again.

    of course, you can show that you want.
