  I have exactly the same problem... my host OS is Fedora x86_64 cinnamon 21.

  I backed to 12.0.1 or 12.0.0 - but the problem with each of these versions is I can not move (rearrange) none of the virtual machines in the left menu.   This seems to have been fixed with the 12.1.0 release.

  You are referring to the icons in the notification area of the taskbar.  You won't see any arrow, if there is no hidden icons.
