Cubes of financiers as ASO?

Hello

One of my clients is planning to convert its BSO cubes to ASO to improve loading and calculation times. Cubes contain financial data and are used to generate financial statements (P & L, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.) for the current and future years. These cubes also hold forecasts given outside actual expenditures, which are responsible for the ERP system.

Now, I am aware of the fundamental differences between the structure of the ASO and BSO cubes - I worked on financial BSO cubes and of simple cubic ASO in the past.

But depending on complexity of financial forecasting applications, this idea of the conversion of BSO ASO feasible and viable? Can do the complex calculations of BSO cube in these cubes managed by MDX in ASO?

Indications will be useful.

Thanks in advance

G.S.

Hello

We have a similar requirement of our customer. Only calculations that can be converted are the member formulas. If you have a lot of scripts of calculations, it can become very difficult. Also remember that Aso, you can only enter at level 0. So if you non-niveau entries 0 members, you will lose this feature. Under x 11, ASO supports time of balance sheet accounts, so it's a good thing if you have a balance report.

    Anyone have expercie on how to fix this?

    See you soon

    I don't think that your type of Cube will make a differenct in sorting. Default with Essbase OBIEE sorts columns alphabetically.

    The best way is to create a logical column with a logic that mimics the normal sort and use this logical column in the RPD "column sort order.

    For example if you need to sort the months while I was doing was to write a CASE statement and assigned to some of these months as they will be in ascending order and I used this column in the column logic month 'Sort order' present in the properties of the column.

    Months when "jan" then 100 when February then when 101 mar then 102... When end of December then 110 112 else

  • Question of another hierarchy cube ASO

    Hi all

    IAM trying to build one hierarchy of another cube of time dimension ASO

    Hierarchy is as below

    Date
    -> years
    -> Qtrs
    -> month
    -> Days(01-01-2010)

    For example:

    Date (GEN 1)
    -> 2010 (Gen2)
    -> Qtr1 (Gen3)
    -> jan (Gen4)
    -> 01/01/2010 (Gen5)
    -> 02/01/2010 (Gen5)

    IAM another hierarchy of construction for the weekend that our company need to analyse certain measures on a weekly fashion

    IAM trying to build this way

    Date (GEN 1)
    -> 2010 (Gen2)
    -> week_end_sat (Gen2)
    -> 02/01/2010 (Gen3)
    -> 09/01/2010 (Gen3)

    I did test

    (1) I tried to built a shared Gen5 member and I did and when I tried to build another hierarchy to knowledge of generation different Gen3 iam facing problems with the rule files

    Unable to build a rules file with correct size of IAM properties

    Please let me know if you have any idea it would be great.

    Thank you
    Riou

    You need several hierarchies enabled. 2010 weekend Sam must be stored separate hierarchies.

    BTW - it would be easier and I think on a higher functional level if you have used a dim attribute instead of an alt roll up, but your choice.

  • Datafilters in OBIEE with Essbase cube database

    We have imported cubes of financial accounting in our repository with pre-built account hierarchies. When you try to run the tests with them, how can we get the filters in the analysis (or is this something that is done in the repository) to work to display a pie chart which can give more of a level of account values. For example: we want a pie chart which can show the EBITA, an account of level 3 and 5 level 4 accounts only on the list of pi. At the moment we do this with a statement 'or' in the filter data and making all accounts level 4 3 EBITA in the pie chart below, so that we only want they sum up and left as EBITA in the chart areas.

    Hello

    If you use the account hierarchy you can selection steps easy to use to replace the 'start with all members' by 'start with selected members '.

    In the screen change membership step you can select members from different levels of the hierarchy and your analysis shows only these members so your pie chart display EBITA and 5 accounts of level 4 of your hierarchy.

    Hi all

    We have essbase version 11.1.2.2.100. I have 3 essbase cubes. 2 are ASO(Test1,Test2) and 1 BSO (Test3). I have also 2 transparent wall between ASO-ASO(Test1-Test2) and BSO-ASO(Test3-Test1) (both ASO targets are the same).

    I created the partition without error or warning. Now when I try to connect Test1 cube smartview, I get an error below. I copied the error in the log file.

  • increase the 'size of the cache pending' of our cube ASO to capture whole database in memory?

    Happy new year everyone,

    We want to take full advantage of our 54 GB of free memory on our server Exalytics X 4.

    From this site, I read more in anticipation of the ASO cache size will reduce the disk i/o.

    The default / .dat file size of data from our database of the ASO is 9.9 GB with more 100 million cells entry level.

    We should increase the 'size of the cache in waiting"our ASO to 9.9 GB cube so that the entire .dat will be cached?

    Thank you.

    ===============

    PS. Here's what I found in ASO Tuning white paper, which seems to recommend 512 MB or 1 GB.

    ASO cache size has an effect on the performance of loading data. For

    small databases with cells of entry 2 million or less, the default

    ASO cache size to 32 MB is sufficient. For a larger database

    with 20 million cells, 64 or 128 MB of cache is more appropriate.

    A database with 1 billion cells or more, the size of the cache can

    be placed as high as 512 MB or 1 GB if memory permits.

    Put all of the memory base looks really cool, but my experience is that in most cases it is not necessary. In my experience, the benefit of the ASO cache decreases rapidly. Here's an example I wrote about running aggregations:

    http://Essbase-day.blogspot.com/2015/09/calcparallel-with-ASO.html

  • Problem: one of the members of the child is not aggregate to the Parent cube ASO

    Problem: one of the members of the child is not aggregate to the Parent cube ASO

    Here is the hierarchical structure of the ASO.

    At ~ Labelonly

    b + shared member

    C + Shared member

    Aggregated Expectated result: A = 150 USD

    b contribution 100 USD

    C contribution 50 USD

    But total shwoing associate for A is currently 100 instead of 150 USD.

    Then, I tried to remove members of 'b' then no value does show for A which means Member 'c' does not participate in the aggregation.

    Please let us know if anyone is facing the similar problem

    One member of the label will always be equal to the value of the first child.  You need to remove to get a sum

  • How to change the 'Drive' for the BSO cubes (just like we do using "alter tablespace" for ASO cubes) using MAXL etc.?

    Hello team,

    I'm trying to make a backup copy of the cube by using the copy commands, BSO

    but after copy, I need to change the drive letter (for the data and indexes of the files) using MAXLs.

    I am able to do for cubes ASO using "Alter tablespace" i.e. for example, change "D:\" car ' to 'E:\. "for the tablespace files.

    I need to do the same for the BSO cubes? any idea?

    Kind regards

    Amit

    Don't forget while you can also change the drive it can't displace data. You would have to export the data, delete the database, change the disks, and then reload.

    For the actual command of MaxL watch the MaxL Alter Database command. You can add, dorp or set volumes of disk for ind and pag files

    question like this:

    now the question is: not all employees are good with attribute values, there are some employees without these PayType values.

    We tried to put

  • shared members disappear automatically after the deployment of the ASO cube

    Hello

    What we were doing as below:

    the memerbers dimension are loaded by source for epma odi, and then, we deploy the aso and epma bso cubes.

    and the process type in the profile to load dimension members is defined as "merge as primary.

    the question as below:

    (1) initially, the hierarchy of the dimension as it:

    size AA:

    A

    A1

    A2

    A3

    This dimension is aso and aso cube deployed successfully.

    (2) the users change the hierarchy of the source table.

    changed to below: (just add a parent for A1 and A2 under A initial parent.

    A

    A'

    A1

    A2

    A3

    AFTE, this changes, and members are responsible for epma once again, the hierarhy of dimension in epma is as below:

    A

    A'

    A1

    A2

    A1 (Shared)

    A2 (Shared)

    A3

    and this process of loading and applications deploy processes run automatically overnight pocess.

    I thought that I delete the A1 A2 shared hierarchy and deploy the cube again after overnight charge and deploy processes.

    But what I saw in the structure of the aso cube after the party deployed the process is also that:

    There no common A2 A1 in the sketch, but just below members in the cube hierarchy in essbase.

    A

    A'

    A1

    A2

    A3

    It's really weird, why shared members disappear automatically after deploy and make different hierarchy between epma an essbase outline

    can you help me?

    I have no idea...

    EPMA is ASO-> size is set to "multiple hierarchies enabled" otherwise please turn on and then try to deploy.

    Thank you

  • FX translation in cube ASO

    I heard that it is possible to perform translations of monetary dynamics via Member mdx formulas in a cube ASO, but so far I couldn't get much of what it is to work.

    I have a cube that contains a dimension of projects, a dimension of country among others, and a monetary Dimension, as well as the size attribute for project currency and currencies of the countries.

    Each country are marked with an attribute of the currency of the country in the form of the EUR, GBP, JPY, etc..

    Each project is marked with an attribute of currency project in EUR (P), (P), (P) JPY GBP, etc.

    The exchange rates are stored in the dimension of currency with the names of Member in form 1EUR, 1JPY, 1GBP, etc..

    We have a member of the reference currency in the monetary dimension, where all the raw data is loaded and to complicate things, income values are specified in the currency of the project and the cost values are specified in the currency of the country.

    I try to add a member of the "US Dollar" in the dimension of currency that dynamically converts revenue after costs depending on the currencies of countries attribute and the attribute project currency using corresponding exchange rates.

    Any ideas?

    Sorry - no - what I wanted to create a monetary dimension as follows:

    Add more currencies converted according to the needs.

  • Extract the ASO cube data slices

    Hello

    For Essbase version 11.1.1.2, is there a way (using scripts) to extract data slices in a text file?  We understood how the data in the ASO cube zero slices, but have none managed to extract the data.  Please keep in mind, we have no reporting tools for this, we use Excel to our reporting needs

    Thanks as always!

    There are pretty much two different (well, there are also a third way) ways to get out Essbase data:

    (1) write a report script

    (2) write an MDX query

    (3) buy Star Integration Server (now owned by IBM) and point to the comic in question.

    Not surprisingly, there is no quick fix with these choices.  I wrote a blog about report vs MDX scripts, and the answer is (i.e. that one is the best)... depends on:

    http://camerons-blog-for-Essbase-hackers.blogspot.com/2013/07/what-makes-Essbase-data-extraction-fast.html

    I hope to put some of the trials above against a box of Star Integration Server (no, I don't work for them) to see if he can better the time extracted in the near future.

  • Partition of several source BSO cubes to a single target ASO cube

    All,

    I want to use Essbase 11.x to create a partition strategy which has several sources (all with the same number of dimensions) BSO cubes partitioned in a single target ASO cube, which has the extra dimensions that source BSO cubes. Is this possible?

    Thank you

    Yes, you can certainly extend servers.

    I think there at - it a chart like this for ASO or we can use the same table.

  • Member to the ASO cube formula

    Hi all
    I'm trying to calculate the month member when a cube of ASO.
    This formula applies; ([CDA], [and CurrMonth])-([CDA], [et PrevMonth]) but this means that the substitution variables must be defined each month. Is there a better way to make this more dynamic formula? Maybe using the CurrentMember in the formula?

    Hello

    Yes, use CDA, CurrentMember - CDA, CurrentMember.Lag (1)

    Or & CurrMonth .lag (1) for a YEAR, & CurrMonth - CDA, depending on what you want to calculate exactly.

    Used on the period dimension, Lag (1) will return the previous month.

    Thank you
