Curious firewall alert

Hello everyone, this firewall alert appeared this morning, never seen before. There is nothing important or make me a sort of infestation?

> do you want the application 'netsession_mac' to accept incoming network connections?

Anyone know what that "netsession_mac"? I would be grateful.

Try this discussion > netsession_mac allows incoming connections?

  • Firewall alert

My PC at home I run Windows Vista. A few days ago I noticed an alert that the firewall is disabled; I never turned it off. How can that be, I'm the only user on my PC. Turning was enough solution? This means my PC has been attacked and I need to perform a scan?

    Hi Alex,

-Do you have any software from third-party security installed on the computer?

Since we do not know the firewall stopped, I suggest you to check if you have any third-party security software and the firewall installed on the computer. Installation sometimes firewalls and software of third-party security will stop Windows Firewall.

However you my attempt to put running the Windows Firewall and check if it works very well.

Also I suggest you to run an online virus scan and check if the computer is infected and remove infected items. Go to the link below to run an online virus scan.

    Hello

First I suggest you to disable any program of security on your computer and check if it solves the problem.

After reviewing the question you must reactivate the security on your computer program.

Also turn off UAC and check if the problem persists.

    1. open Control Panel.
    2. under the user account and family settings click on the "add user account / remove."
    3. click on one of the user accounts, for example, you can use the guest account.
    4. in the user account, click on the link "go to the main page of the user account.
    5. under "Make changes to your user account", click on the link "change security settings".
    6. in him "turn User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to deselect the "use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer. Click the Ok button.
    7. you will be asked to restart your computer. Do when you're ready.

  • cannot access the internet through firefox, IE is ok, checked the firewall settings and network

Have used firefox for ages w / no problem - this morning, firefox will not have internet access - modem and the router are fine, inernet explore what access very well. Firefox is configured to use the system, not considered proxy settings 'no proxy', has not worked, checked windows and Mcaffey firewalls, not found something that should be blocked. Have restarted/rebooted everything

    This has happened

    Each time Firefox opened

This moringing - last successfully used there - 3: 00 children asks that they "did nothing...". »

    User Agent

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152 .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

They did something with firefox 3.6.8, which upsets the McAffee Firewall currently. Since the upgrade, I get the firewall Alerts pop ups. If you click on the block (which could have your children), then Firefox will be blocked completely.

If you dig in the McAffee Firewall tools-> program authorities, you will likely find that Firefox listed as "blocked."

On my machine, the entry is for 'Free' only and I now get alerts. I think they will disappear if I switch it to "Full". But I'm reluctant to do this, why a browser should accept incoming connections, why this change has been made and what benefit is it for us as users?

  • Windows Firewall is disabled

I had ZoneAlarm firewall installed on my computer for a while, the Windows Firewall is disabled. When I started my computer today, there was a red security alert icon in the lower right screen telling me Windows Firewall is disabled. As far as I know it is been extinguished since the ZoneAlarm has been installed. I rebooted the computer and the alert was still there. Windows Security Center indicates that the Windows Firewall, it does not show the ZoneAlarm. The ZoneAlarm is on and functioning normally, I confirmed in the Task Manager. I ran my anti-virus and spybot programs and nothing turned up. Why am I suddenly on the firewall alerts Windows is disabled? Should I be concerned?

    Hello

Here's what I use and recommend:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.
    http://www.prevx.com/   <-->
    http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp  <-->

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

    I hope this helps.

  • I have something that says ' XP internet Explorer warning: visiting this site may pose a threat to your system ' and I want to get rid of it

I've got something that says it's "XP Internet Security 2012 Alert and also Firewall alert". It won't let me take my Internet and says the programs I'm trying to get to pose a security risk — software malware, worms, Trojans, hackers etc... It does not interfere with things like my Microsoft Works or photographs, just at the moment where I'm trying to go up on my browser. I have no idea how to get rid of him, he wants me to buy a product that I didn't need and I really get annoyed because I rely on my computer for many things. Anyone know what I can do?

First of all, the program asks you to purchase their product is a scam - it's actually the problem and a form of malware.

Rogue Security Software | False Virus Alerts. Scareware:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/PC-security/antivirus-rogue.aspx

The two programs are probably tied or one-in-the-same problem, see

How to remove XP Internet Security 2012?

How to remove System Security Firewall Alert?

Then you will need to run a full scan with your programs anti-virus and anti-spyware to ensure that you have been able to remove the malicious software and you have no other. I would also say to running analyses by the following:

    Microsoft safety scanner
     http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Malwarebytes
     http://www.Malwarebytes.org/

    SUPERAntiSpyware
     http://www.SUPERAntiSpyware.com/

Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free tool to scan on demand and ends 10 days after it is downloaded.

Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware are also free and are excellent tools for on-demand scan.

    I hope this helps.
