My Zone Alarm Firewall gave me an alert to security today telling me: "Windows update is trying to launch:__C:\WINDOWS\FBDD9F75315C1CF9FF63F37AACA267D3\update.exe, or use another program to access privileged resources." _

I have Windows Media Center Edition 2002.

1. is this a legitimate Windows Update file I should download, or there is a risk of security to my computer and should be removed?  (I tried Googling the update file but could not get any information useful and also tried Microsoft Downloads.

2. for the future "updates": better link to use to determine if the update is legitimate?

  • A previous version of Firefox killed Zone Alarm - this problem has been corrected?

During installation, the previous version of Firefox update, it showed a box on the screen saying that he had found a file mismatch in the ultimate security alarm Zone and has been deleted. Without more explanation - and no way for me to say 'yes' or 'no '. Of course, the ZA Panel showed that I was not protected. Unacceptable. Went to IE, with the MS Firewall and anti virus, crossed my fingers, toes, eyes, etc. and are back online. Finally managed to download Zone Alarm - took a big piece of my Verizon monthly data allowance. Switched to Chrome, it plays well with ZA but I use Firefox instead. So - this fester has been fixed. It is safe to return to Firefox? May 23, 2014

Firefox does not disable the separate applications such as firewall and antivirus. Yes, we know that Zone Alarm itself is not an add-on for Firefox.

The message said that the Zone Alarm associated Extension that you had at the time was not compatible with this version of Firefox, you got in time. Separate Zone Alarm should have been still very well.

It is also not the work of the Firefox browser to be made compatible with the thousand of Extensions out there, but reverse.

When I download the version 7.0.1 my firewall software reports as "Malicious" and recommend that I have not install it. What gives?

    • Make sure you download firefox from www.mozilla.org (there is a fake site floating around)

Just changed computer for Acer7730ZG with vista home premium. When I try and install the security software of Zone Alarm at the end of the installation, a message appears saying the data execution Protection has stopped the program. Have tried to turn it off, but it is said, he has to be on for this software. Ask the zone alarm, but not joy. They told to download a patch, but the patch wasn't for my version of Vista. Christmas salvation

It does not mention the sp1 that is all this I, he mentioned sp3 and something else, but say not to use this patch if your thing is here. I'm not good with computers. I like zone alarm. its something to do with that thing for the execution of the data. Everyone says to stay away from vista but I got a great deal on the laptop, and I like acer.

    Thank you

If you're running SP1, then you NEED to update your system to SP2! There's a reason why you haven't, yet?

Zone Alarm has had its problems over the years in all versions of Windows, I've never used a Win98 upward. I really think you would be better off without her, but it's your decision to make.
DEP is here to protect your computer, and does so at a level well below ZoneAlarm can.
I just realized that I don't know firewall - you can talk about security suite? Which version you want to install? and what patch?

It looks like 'Acer eDataSecurity' may be the fly in the soup here - you should probably uninstall it in any case as it appears is not updated significantly, so is probably also holed in Switzerland cheese :)
(FWIW, I uninstalled here since so after purchase with no ill effects)
The reason why, I feel is ZA and Acer stuff are fighting for control of emails, etc., and because Acer was there, first of all, it is winning :) - same effect as having two AV of the present.

  • Zone alarm (free) to always safe? It keeps failing and you want to replace the last version.

Were do the windows that open to Zone Alarm telling me to replace the version I have.

In the end I did, and he could not recognize it's own updates or let me turn on the antivirus.

I then uninstalled from the PC and went to their website and download the latest version.

within 30 minutes of the hotel, it's throw up the same window asking me to replace it with the latest version. The attached picture is what I get with this latest version. I'm about to go through it all on my laptop too, I should ignore the adds to update?.

Thank you all, I'll just stay clear of Zone Alarm in the future.

I liked the presentation how functional it is firewall worked, especially in what concerns the software installed, but now is too much of a risk, and there are others out there.

I am happy with Avast AV and FW of Comodo.

Avast and defender widows say there is not two viruses the Zone Alarm they said was there.

You can consider this thread concluded, as I don't see point to continue with Z / a time, there was a power outage and others are just as free.

  • Why my zone alarm toolbar disappeared?

my zone alarm toolbar disappeared from the top of the firefox start page. What should I do to get it back?

The extension of ZA toolbar always shows as active on the topic: page addons?

    • Firefox, the menu/Tools button > Modules > Extensions

You can use one of them to set toolbars to display.

    • button '3-bar' menu > customize > show/hide toolbars
    • View > toolbars
You can press the ALT key, or press F10 to display the Menu bar
    • Right click on empty toolbar space

First of all, to see if there is a real problem.

    Update all your protection programs.

  • 16.0.2 Firefox is not compatible with the zone alarm Forcefield AGAIN. Please, help users with that. No current positions

Before I updated to the current version, I checked for "reserves" and found nothing to indicate that the Zone Alarm Extreme Security, ForceField was not compatible with the Version 16.0.2. If I had known that I would not have updated. Y at - it no use for those of us who have this problem. ? The only post I noticed on this problem is 'closed' and dated about 8 months ago.

Thanks for the reply, the old Fox!

I agree with you 100%. This occurred without fault to each new update of Firefox.

I wish that Firefox had warned users of the incompatibility issues with ZA ForceField, as they have done with other problems before users downloading the latest version of Firefox.

Thank you also for the link to the "release notes", which I didn't have before. It is a help in the future.

    Warm greetings,

    ZoneAlarm:
Version of ZoneAlarm Security Suite: 10.1.079.000

Last attempt to help you. You do NOT read what I posted. YOU don't HAVE THE LATEST version of Zone Alarm with the toolbar update. IF YOU DID, you would see in Firefox Modules > Extenstions, Zone Alarm security engine 1.5. 359.0 NO Zone Alarm security engine 1.5. .0 350as shown in your picture as an attachment. DON'T you see the '359' rather than the '350' in the version?

-> Uninstall Firefox on your computer

    • DO NOT SELECT DELETE THE SETTINGS AND DATA OF THE USER
    • Restart your system

-> Download Firefox latest version of one of these links by using a different Web browser:

    -> Installation of Firefox

Check and tell if its working.

  • Windows 7 compatibility issues and Zone Alarm.

I installed WINDOWS 7 RC and up here a lot of work but the only problem it is or what I found, it is ZONE ALARM would not give a number of SP1, although I searched a lot of WINDOWS 7 SP1, which I assume is still not available, I tried to install VISTA SP1 but my bad because they are not compatible and will not be installed.

Help for this problem would be appreciated, thanks.

SP means 'service pack'... a service pack is not available for Windows 7 for a while to come... Try to install in compatibility mode Vista SP1.
