Custom installation?

Hello

I thought a lot about upgrading my Windows Vista 32 bit laptop to run Windows 7 Professional (with my student discount). I need to know how vista space resumes without something more installed as I know that Windows 7 uses 30-40 GB. Vista takes this much?

Also, I saw a graphical upgrade that suggests that I have to do a custom Setup from Home Premium to professional. Cajn I always use an upgrade for this drive?

Thank you very much

  • FF22 and prefs.js custom installation, bookmarks.html and override.ini FF23 does not

Try to customize the installation of FF22 or FF23 for business environment.

I have done this several times with several previous versions. FF19 and 20 being the latest versions of success, it worked. (I wasn't 21).

  • NB200 Windows 7 custom installation

I just installed Windows 7 on my NB200 following the road such custom installation suggested by Toshiba. Once installed, I also ran the Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7.

However, I can see the webcam installing software, or the WLAN software, I guess they must be installed separately. Looking at drivers and downloads available for the NB200 don't know what date to use as a cut-off point because I ran the Installer software, i.e. it does not install the current drivers of al or srivers up to a certain date, as is - anyone knows what he does not settle. I have had a look but can't find any documentation on what it does and what it does not install.

    Thank you very much

This looks at the very least, you'll need to install drivers to get you on the internet. Then I suggest to let Microsoft Update to install everything what they have too. I don't know the answer to your question on what drivers Toshiba moved and you need to download it manually.

    Good luck.

  • Custom installation folder (LV 2009)

I was instructed to build an installer from a customer for a base of existing code written in LV2009 (windows XP, Vista, 7).

The code is not well written and a LOT of hard-coded paths.  I'm not paid to recode, and I would like to avoid that if possible.

EXE must be located in c:\projects\FOLDER.  However, I can't get the installer to place anywhere but the standard Windows folders (office, Program files, etc.).

I didn't have to do an installer this before (I always locate my exe in the PF record).

Am I missing something?  I could have sworn that I've done this before.  I can find no Ko or forums about this, which seems strange (well that NEITHER research and find relevant results has been doing worse and worse)

  • Help! How can custom installation of Windows 7 from Vista Home Premium, I save my program files? Such as Microsoft Office, McAfee Internet Security etc?

    Hello
Having some difficulty understanding what it is I should do before installing a new upgrade of windows 7. I have the disk to upgrade, but discovered only today I now have to perform a customized installation because I'm upgrading from vista home premium to windows 7 Professional.

So, this means that all program etc. files must also be backed up as well as the usual save multimedia files, photos, etc..

HOW HOW HOW do I save my program files for example office microsoft, mcafee internet sicurity? Is it as simple as the copy on a CD/DVD-R?

    IM so confused, please help!

You cannot save programs and then copy them to another system.

You must reinstall them from the original media. Make sure you have all the license keys you need to reinstall before you start.

    Hello

How to do a clean install:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-Windows-7-a.html

Sometimes the only way to upgrade is to do a clean install,

" Upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 "

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/help/upgrading-from-Windows-XP-to-Windows-7#T1=tab01

To upgrade your Windows XP computer to Windows 7, you will need to select custom during installation of Windows 7. A custom installation keeps your programs, files or settings. It is sometimes called a 'clean' for this reason installation.

Perform a custom installation of Windows 7

With your computer and running of Windows Vista, do one of the following:

    1. If you have a Windows 7 installation disc, insert the disc into your computer. The installation program should start automatically. If it isn't, click on the Start button, click on the computer, open the drive to install Windows 7 on your DVD drive and then double-click setup.exe.

    1. In the page install Windows, click install now.

    2. On the Get updated important for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. Your computer must be connected to the Internet during Windows 7 installation to get these updates.

    3. On the Please read the license terms page, if you agree to the terms of the license, click on I accept the terms of the license and then click Next.

    4. On the type of installation do you want? page, click Custom.

    5. Choose the partition containing Windows Vista (this is often the unit of C) and then click Next. (Do not select your external USB hard drive).

    6. In the Windows .old dialog box, click OK.

    7. Continue to follow the instructions to complete the installation of Windows 7, including naming your computer and set up an initial user account. You can use the same names that you used in Windows Vista, or choose new ones.

Next: Return your files to your computer and re-install your applications from the original media.

  • How to create a custom installation of Firefox?

I would like to install a customized version of Firefox on multiple computers. I want to customize Firefox in the following way:

-Set the default language to English.
-Set the default Google search engine and set the default Firefox search engine language to English.
-Open new tabs by default (instead of new windows).
-Set the homepage of a particular web site.
    -Preinstalled with a PDF Viewer.
    -Preinstalled with some extra plugins.

I would like to create a unique customized version of Firefox that I can distribute to these other computers, rather than do all the installation program by hand. These machines will probably be Windows, but I work from a Mac. I know how to make some of them on my own installation of Firefox (for example, to change the subject: the configuration file, change my preferences) but do not know how to do something I can deploy.

    How would I achieve that?

By default Firefox already does almost all of these (language, new tabs instead of windows, built in PDF reader, etc.). If you want to deploy additional parameters, http://mike.kaply.com/cck2/ might be able to help.

  • HI THE INABILITY TO UPGRADE FROM VISTA TO WINDOWS7, I HAD TO DO A CUSTOM INSTALLATION. ALL MY VISTA FILES WERE PUT IN AN OLD FILE IN WINDOWS, I CAN STILL ACCESS FILES LIKEMS ŒUVRES.

DURING THE UPGRADE FROM VISTA TO 7 W I HAD MANY ATTEMPTS TO UNINSTALL WINDOWS MAIL, WHICH HAS BEEN THE STUMBLING BLOCK TO A NEW INSTALLATION, I ENDED UP MAKING A BET TO LEVEL CUSTOM, WHICH WAS OK, EVERYTHING IS OPERATIONAL, BUT MY OLD WINDOWS FILES HAVE BEEN PLACED IN A SEPARATE FILE OLD WINDOWS THAT I HAVE PROBLEMS TO ACCESS, AS I WANT TO USE FOR EXAMPLE MS WORKS

    Hello

Sounds more like you did a clean install on a new folder without formatting. If this is the case, you can retrieve data from the windows.old folder, but programs like MSWorks will need to be reinstalled from their original installation media. An update includes necessary registry entries and transfer program files, a fresh install in a new folder does not work. • Custom installation of Windows 7 Pro takes too long

Well, last night I was installing Windows 10, where first steps easily on the past, as in 30 minutes the computer rebooted and reached the point of preparation, with pimples circling above the line. But in the meantime Windows to boot completely, thinking that it won't be more than a few minutes, leave the laptop on battery, I fell asleep, as I was so tired. I woke up this morning to find the computer turned off. I started it. Dotted circles appeared and after some time the dialog box, to show something like "computer is suddenly off, so that Windows cannot continue the installation.

No problem, I thought, however feel bad.

    • I restarted the facility, the same box appeared.
    • I took the car and formatted the 469 GB primary partition, formatted the partition, MBR, revived the installation, the installation process ran more slowly than ever, everything as it was when I tried to install Windows 7.
    • I took out the disc and deleted all the partitions by using the Partition Wizard, revived the installation, the same. horribly slow. Now more than an hour has passed, and he exceeded not copy files.

I try to keep my wits about me, as I wonder whatever happens, whatever the change, happens to the configuration of the hard disk!

I would really appreciate if someone told me exactly how to prepare a hard drive for the custom, clean installation of Windows?

    • Here, I created a partition MBR before or during installation?
    • If Yes, then what is the size? (I think that 100 MB is standard)
    • If so, then in NTFS or FAT32?

I can't really understand why the installation process changes the way it works.

Is it possible that the information are rewritten on the installation media to cause this?

I'm asking questions, but I am open to any suggestions!

    Thank you

You confuse the Master Boot Record (MBR): https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc976786.aspx

with a score, they are not the same.

A new fresh out of the box has no MBR and no partitions. Connect it to your computer as a second drive and you will be prompted to 'Initialize' the reader. Initialization creates the Master Boot Record (but not partitions). When you install Windows partitions (C: Windows and system partitions are created). The system partition is for Windows 7 150 MB (very small partition that contains data for Startup Configuration that needs to load Windows), the Windows C: partition occupies the space remaining on your hard drive. The exceptions are HP, Dell factory installed systems, Etc. which additional scores.

So if you want to start again simply remove all the partitions that Windows created 10, the Master boot Record (MBR) will remain in the tack room.

Thanks for any info - research gave no responses so far.

    Peter

With a clean install, I would delete the recovery partition. No need to keep... Make sure your XP or Vista Recovery first.

If you do the automatic upgrade, it should keep the intact recovery partition.

With a clean install_if, later, you will need to reinstall Win 7, you will leave it with Vista using Recovery set. Then upgrade to win 7.I belive the automatic update through F10 recovery "should" for work to start again with Vista... then for Win 7.

Win 7 own install_you to create your own recovery partition after third-party software such as Acronis True Image.

  • I replace 3 GB memory of 8 GB and do a 'custom' installation of Win 7 from 32 bit to 64 bit. Should I install the memory before installing Win 7 or after?

I currently have VISTA 32 - bit OS (SP 2) on a gateway FX - 541S; Intel Core 2 Quad processor Q6600 (2.40 GHz, 1066 Hz FSB, 8 MB cache); 3072 MB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and a 700 w power supply.  I have Office 2007, which is probably the 32-bit, so it seems I have to upgrade to Office 2010.

Better do you after installing. Once installation is complete, then turn off and put in new RAM. Check the properties of the computer to see if the 8 GB is used (chances are that Windows 7 hardware reserves some of the memory). And you don't have to upgrade to 64 - bit for the Office, 32-bit applications are compatible with 64-bit Windows in most cases. Only difference is that 64-bit applications have been designed for 64-bit Windows, so performance will be better (you may not notice it however).
