How can I get information about how to distribute VMware Player?

First of all, I hope that you can get a touch of the player_distribution team.

So far, I was unable to get in touch with that whatsoever on this matter.

To be honest, I was not aware of the existence of the team of player_distribution and yours it the first reference I see: is it possible to get in touch with them? They have an e-mail address, a request for information page or something like?

Again, if you have filled out the contact form, then I am confident will contact you. As for an e-mail address, I had a response to an email are [email protected] .

I'm still waiting for a response to the message I sent from the reader page, weeks and weeks... Furthermore, if I can't get information about the procedure of distribution before you enter data into the form I would have to consider a different technology.

Again, please be patient, I think you're going to get a contact. Also know that I share your frustration regarding the difficulty of using the drive with a project you want to deploy and/or share with others. I do not understand the agreement of long duration for a free download tool. And I believe that the proliferation of the player help only VMWare. I'm just a petition for a simpler model for people like me and maybe you.

  • Vmrun fails with VMware Player

    Hello

I am currently using VMware Player version 7.1.2 and VIX version 1.13

I want to start my VM using vmrun VIX, unfortunately when I type in the command line, the following command:

    departure of player vmrun t 'D:\myUser\VMWare\Windows7\Windows 7.vmx '.

It will give me something like this:

Unable to connect to the host.

Error: The specified version is not found

I'm doing something wrong or is this a bug?

For the mention I don't want to not buy or even to install VMware Workstation as I had a lot of trouble with it in the past (I had to do a system restore to get rid of) uninstall.

OK, managed to make it work, here's how:

    1) there is a vixwrapper config.txt file in the folder VMware\VMware VIX. Make a backup and overwrite the following on the content of the file:

    #@Version-Info
    #
    # VixAllProducts revision mapping for Workstation/Player
    #
    # This file translates product version specifications into the appropriate Vix
    # implementations.
    #
    # Each @Version-Info line has 5 white-space seperated entries:
    #
    # provider-type: ws, esx, viserver, etc
    # apiVersion: the apiVersion supported, as passed in from VixHost_Connect()
    # ipc-type: none, vmdb, vmodl, cim
    # product-version: the product version string
    #
    # implementation-directory: the path to the library that implements the
    # version described by the first 4 parameters
    #
    #
    # The configuration is based on the first 4 fields, which describe
    # the product. The 5th field is the location. To force it to try
    # multiple location, the same configuration can be repeated. Note that
    # list is built in LIFO order, so the latest entry in the configuration
    # will be the first used. If for some reason that value fails, it will
    # continue through any other matches.

    # Workstation 11.1.2 and Player 7.1.2
    ws 17 vmdb 11.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0
    player 17 vmdb 7.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0
    ws-shared 17 none 11.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0

    # EOF

    (2) if there is a folder named "workstation - 11.0.0 - and-vSphere - 6.0.0" then move elsewhere as a backup

    (3) make a copy of the folder "Desktop - 10.0.0 - and-vSphere - 5.5.0" and name it:

    Workstation - 11.0.0 - and-vSphere - 6.0.0

    (4) do not forget to add the vmrun path to the variable user: PATH (the vmrun path should be something like this: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware")

Now the vmrun commands should work.

The following command opens the virtual machine:

    departure of player vmrun t 'D:\myUser\VMWare\Windows7\Windows 7.vmx '.

  • Why my PC slow down to a crawl when VMware Player is the suspension to the .vmem file?

My PC becomes almost unusable when VMware Player prepares his State record to .vmem file. VMware Player is delegate the task to C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe process. When we look in the Manager tasks, I see that the CPU usage is just 5.10% and the memory usage is around 40%, which is normal for me. When I open resource monitor, I see that ntoskrnl.exe is written extensively to the VMware .vmem file. From writing to the disk stops, my PC immediately snaps back to normal.

I scanned the disc for errors and the performance issues with HDTune, I tested the RAM with memtest. Everything is normal, no errors, drive performance is approximately 110 MB/s. I have antivirus (Avira free) and I don't know that there is a legitimate ntoskrnl.exe Windows process. With the exception of this problem, my PC worked rock stable for three years.

Why write on a hard drive that is not my OS drive affects the overall performance of a PC so and what can do to solve the problem? Also I don't understand, why suspending the hard .vmem file so long?

My virtual machine has 8 Windows as a guest operating system. It has 4 GB of RAM. After I suspend the virtual machine, my host PC is trolling for about 10-15 minutes which seems far too long a little writing 4 GB of memory to the .vmem file status. I also tried VM VirtualBox with the same guest OS and 4 GB of RAM and it suspends a lot sooner and don't drag my PC after that. Also if I move the files in Windows Explorer on the same drive, it has this issue. It seems so VMware Player or ntoskrnl.exe is something too aggressive.

Here are the specs of my host computer:

    CPU: Intel i3 2120

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H67A-USB3-B3

    RAM: 8GB

    Hard disks:

OS and system disk - Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120 GB, connected to internal SATA3 port

Data disk (which causes the slowdowns): Seagate ST31000528AS 1000 GB, connected to internal SATA3 port

OS: Windows 7 64 bit Professional with SP1, updated regularly

With the virtual machine off (non-suspended), try adding the following configuration option to the .vmx file:

    mainMem.writeZeroes = TRUE

  • Can I make a partition D on VMWare Player?

    Hey all.

I am new to the community and VMware.

I use a non-commercial (free) version of VMware Player. I do a few laboratories of practice using Microsoft Servers. Some of the steps in my hands-on labs require a formatting drive D.

My problem is, when I create the Machines, disk space is allocated on the C drive. There is no option to partition and create logical drives.

The ""Options " are included in the"parameters "Manager allows adding additional HDs.» But not for the default partitioning, 40GB HD.

I need to be able to run these commands... ["ntdsutil > activate ATN example > ifm > create sysvol full d:\ifm '] in order to complete the laboratory as well as additional measures that depend on the completion of this exercise. The command fails, because VMware Player always default to a huge drive C.

Does anyone know of a work around this in VMware Player?

    Thank you

Try to add a new disk in VMware Player editing options and then format the drive in Windows.

Your virtual machine must be stopped before you add the disk.

  • VMWare Player 5.0.2 does not start with Bluetooth keyboard connected

    Hello

I use VMware Player 5.0.2 on a host Windows 8.

If I have a Bluetooth keyboard connected to the host, no virtual machine will start. I get the same error every time:

"cannot find a valid peers to connect to.

But if I take the keyboard away, then Bluetooth starts just fine.

Guest operating systems are Vista and Windows 2003. They are all the same in this regard - the same error.

The error occurs really fast - to the extent that the log files are not updated.

Latest version of VMware tools is on the guest.

Any help appreciated gratefully. I can't use the machines without a keyboard, and it's on my tablet computer that I need to be portable. Please note that the issue here is with the keyboard, if there is no Bluetooth keyboard machines act as they should.

    TIA, Pete

    This problem is now resolved.

My initial assessment was wrong. The problem was to be able to. If I was running the computer on battery, all clients VMware crashed with various strange errors at startup. If the host is plugged into the power outlet, everything works as it should.

Obviously, on battery, my computer shuts down some capabilities of the processor. Only at full power is everything what it.

For others who might have the same problem:

  • VMware Player 5.0.1 - USB no driver found error.

    Hello

I searched for quite a while around the forum, but none of the discussions have solved my problem.

Whenever I try to connect a device (SanDisk Cruzer 32 GB) USB to my guest OS (Windows XP Professional SP3 - 32 bit) I get an error of the VMware Player, saying that no driver can be found. My host OS (Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1 - 64-bit) can recognize the USB device and VMware because the name of the device is displayed in a dialog box when I start my virtual OS.  My computer (DELL XPS 15 L501X) uses the USB 3.0 ports, but I lowered the compatibility of USB 2.0 on VMware (see attached image) as Winbdows XP does not support USB 3.0.

I also tried to download Windows XP USB drivers, but it won't let me install on my virtual machine. I am able to run CD / DVD on my virtual computer and there seems to be some USB already installed on the computer, virtual drivers. (see attached image) VMware tools is installed on the virtual OS aswell.

I appriciate any suggestions on how to solve this problem, so I can use the USB on my virtual machine.

    Thank you very much

    Joe.

You may need to use a USB Hub connected to the PC 2.0, and then plug the device in in order to access the Windows XP virtual machine.  BTW, this is one of the standard in the case when the host has USB 3.0 even when you adjust the USB settings in VMware products.  Also you can try to change the settings of the host USB BIOS to 2.0, as appropriate.

  • Evaluation of VMware Player license

After testing on VMware Player 5, I also tested VMware Workstation 9 in order to get a grip on the differences. When I did uninstalled Workstation and install VMware Player 5 again. I now VMware Player (trial license) at the top of my VMware Player window. This isn't right? What will happen after the expiry of the period 'assessment? I will be able to use VMware Player?  Unstall and reinstall after a workstation installation seem to screw up the terms of the software license.

    Clues?

VMware Player 5 appears as follows:

    VMware Player
    VMware Player (license expired)
    VMware Player (trial license)
    VMware Player (Non-commercial use only)

The first 'VMware Player' means that it is authorized for commercial use and a valid serial number has been entered.  The other three should be explicit.

If you have used VMware Workstation with the 30 day free trial serial number and uninstalled and serial number has not yet expired and install you VMware Player 5 I would expect it to appear as 'VMware Player (trial license)' because the VMware Workstation license key is still in the Windows registry.  It is located at [\VMware Workstation\License.ws.9.0.e1.201202 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.] and this withdrawal must make VMware Player 5 display as "VMware Player (Non-commercial use only).  As always make sure that you have proper backups before editing the Windows registry and or at least save the key to the target before deleting.

  • VMware Player 5: license has expired...

In trial of VMware Fusion 5 Professional, there is also the possibility to insert the serial number of the trial in VMware Player (thus allowing commercial use) this: out of curiosity (I need not commercial use of the reader), I tried this, a month ago...

The problem is that now VMware Player (nested within a Fusion Windows 7 VM, mainly to the XP operating Mode), in the title bar indicate that the evaluation period has passed; while I would of course prefer that he returned to the original behavior, that is, where it is said that it is only for non-commercial use, in the title bar.

In the meantime, I also bought Fusion 5 in the normal version, in box (currently, I don't need the pro features).

Yes, there are some parameters (hidden?) in Windows 7 that can restore the text "for non-commercial use" in title bar (instead of have "expired") Player...?

In OS X, as far as I know, the license information in "Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion": but in Windows 7... where is he?

Uninstalling and reinstalling player would fix the problem?

Removal of the license key in the Windows registry will reset on "VMware Player (Non-commercial use only)".

  • Whither VMware Player 5.0 VMNetCfg.exe?

Just upgraded to VMware Player 4.0.4 for the new 5.0.  The old method of obtaining VMNetCfg.exe seems to no longer work.  There is no "network.cab", and none of the .cab files that appear when you / extract have something akin to VMNetCfg.exe.

How to Player 5.0 configure us NAT, DHCP, etc in VMNetn adapters (what we used to do with VMNetCfg)?  If still VMNetCfg.exe, how to get it?

    Thank you!

A smaller download package is VMware-workstation-version 9.0.0 - 812388.exe.tar because it is only 271.2 MB.  "Détarer" it and then use the same command line syntax to extract the contents of the executable file as in the past.

  • VMware player misunderstood technology?

    Hello!

Please tell me who is misunderstood the topic of virtualization - me or VMware?

I mean it seems that assistance to the players on the server is too complicated. A lot of server software and stuff to maintain.

And the fact (from my understanding) that only the windows can be virtualized?

So if I have a small business and want to have my employees to work on the virtual desktops for 'all' hosts 4 OS (Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS x) and will require a redirection of USB for the MacOSX (for iPhone/iPad development) I'm out in the cold (with player) then?

Are there any alternatives or is desktop virtualization, in reality, impossible?

Suggest that you try to read the product documentation as it should dissipate you misconceptions / misunderstandings!

VMware Player is a Type 2 hypervisor that is installed under Windows or Linux and sleeps like a variety guest operating systems, Windows, Linux and Solaris.  Mac OS X can only be installed on Apple brand hardware and is supported on VMware ESX/ESXi or VMware Fusion.  Install Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware - of brand violates Apple SLA for Mac OS X and is illegal and discussing or helping to do with VMware Player would violate VMware Community terms of use so it cannot be discussed in this use case.  If you want to install a supported Mac OS X OS on a Virtual Machine on the Apple brand hardware, using VMware Fusion or VMware ESX/ESXi then please ask questions for this use case on the forums appropriate for what supported VMware product, you choose to use.
