Damaged Windows Installer? How to repair or reinstall?

I have problems installing windows updates as well as my new security of trendmicro.  I think it's because the windows installer does not work correctly.  Does anyone know how to reinstall the windows installer, or fix it?

My problem has been resolved by repairing the registry.  I didn't feel comfortable doing myself in vista (fix registry in XP and older OS) - I had a computer scientist to work for me to do.  I think the instructions they give you online will fix it.

Good luck!

    Hello

Do a system restore to before that the problem started.

TuneUp Utilies but are not a good thing to use.

I think that AVG has a registry in as cleaner; that is a no-no

BUT, nothing to Google on "at2arv.dll", which suggests that it could be Malware, so also run a Malware Scan as it could be Antivirus AVG, which removed.

Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.
