  • Remove the data of the data cluster store store

    I'm trying to disassemble a data store that is part of a cluster of data store.  Needless to say that the system does not just let go without me to jump through a bunch of hoops first.  Anyone can point me to documentation that describes the steps that I need to go by?

    No virtual machine is in the data store - it's good, that there are no virtual machines on the data store

    The data store is not part of a group of data store - I want to remove from the cluster.  How do I do that?

    The datatstore is not managed by the DRS storage - I figured this out.  I temporarily disabled DRS on the cluster storage.

    Storage i/o control is disabled for this data store - how can I do this?

    The data store is not used to the pulsations of vSphere HA - how can I turn off / suspend the heartbeat?

    Thanks in advance.

    You can remove the cluster data store by dragging in your data center through the vSphere client.

    You can disable IGCS through a host in the configuration-> storage tab.

    You can disable HA heartbeat by disabling HA on your cluster hosts. Usually when you receive this warning, it means that the data store is always used by something. Try first the first 2 options and then try to remove before disabling HA on your cluster.

    This should fix the problem on removing.

  • SRM - excluding the OS data replication store

    Hi people,

    I had a requirement as one of the application to exclude OS data replication store after the initial replication of secondary site.

    So first I want to know is it possible to exclude replication to secondary site data store BONES as VMware SRM (by SRA) control replication?

    If it is possible is recommended to exclude the data replication OS store?

    NOTE:

    Operating system data store will be later replication when some manual changes committed in the ms (as the update, changes in demand, etc.)

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello

    I had a requirement as one of the application to exclude OS data replication store after the initial replication of secondary site.

    Are there other virtual machines on this data store that should be protected?

    So first I want to know is it possible to exclude replication to secondary site data store BONES as VMware SRM (by SRA) control replication?

    You must stop / cancel the configuration of the replication of the LUN manually on the storage array. SRM cannot 'see' that the LUNS are replicated and stop replication when you do a failover.

    What you can do to protect that VM is to start the Wizard "To configure Protection" and on the storage options screen select the VMDK not replicated and mark it as detached. This will allow you to complete the wizard despite the disc not replicated VM. But consider only failover / recovery test, you will need to present the data store to the hosts and fix the OS VMDK on this virtual machine manually.

    If it is possible is recommended to exclude the data replication OS store?

    Of course, it cannot be a common recommendation. What about application settings / settings OS / event logs / other things? You want to replicate the data manually store whenever something is changed in the OS?

    What is the specific reason to not replicate the BONES?

    Hello

    You can close this thread you opened another for your question.

    To answer you second point, it depends on what you select. You can use the function list_agg of values separated by commas if you wish. Or add/edit you WHERE to ROWNUM = 1 to clause example

  • How to associate cluster esx with the data report store

    Hi all

    I'm running a repore that displays data stores less than 50 free concerts. The storage team would like a coloum for esx clusters associated with the LUN. I can't see to find it and what is possible.

    Thanks in advance,

    Scott.

    I would create a WCF function, script type, with a timeRange parameter and a new data store VMWDatastore context parameter, required, not a list.  Set the output in common: string.

    Add the following script:

    QS = server. QueryService

    Query = "!" "VMWCluster where esxServers.datastores.uniqueId = ' ${datastore.uniqueId}"

    cluster = server. QueryService.queryTopologyObjects (query)

    clusterNames = clusters? collect {cluster-> cluster?. name}?. Join(', ')

    return clusterNames

    You can then use this in your report, feeding the entrance of context for the current row data store.

  • data affinity default cluster store

    Hello

    I would like to ask if there is possibility to disable the default rule "solidarity VMDK" affinity in the data store cluster permanently in vsphere 5.0u1, no virtual machine by virtual machine when virtual machines are being deployed. When I tried to uncheck the affinity by default rule, he re-apeared after I re-opened the store of new VMs cluster and all parameter data obtained "solidarity VMDK" affinity applied again during the creation.

    I checked the advanced settings of possible substitution, but there seems to be no option.

    Thank you

  • Need help planning first VM: data migration store

    Here is where I am: I just install ESX 3i on the 3 hosts, and I want to install a VM on vCenter.  I want this virtual machine in a HA cluster.  Problem is that I don't have my SAN connected yet due to a missing part is shipped at this time.  However, lack of time, I want to crack on the first VM so that I'm not just sitting idle to wait for the parts to arrive.

    It is possible (and relatively simple) simply to create a virtual machine on the local storage for now and then migrate the data to the San store as soon as I get that later installed?  How could I get this?  Did I do against the "rules" so to speak?

    Hello

    When you turn off your virtual computer and right click on your virtual machine (via Client (VI) one of the options is to migrate, once you select Migrate Wizard opens and the steps are:

    1. Select the destination (this can be an another ESX or the same ESX)

    2. Select the resource pool (once again this can be the same)

    3. Select the data store, here you have to choose the option move the configuration of virtual machines and virtual disks files and select your San

    4 review your selection and click on finish

    You will see the progress made in the recent in your VI client task bar, once the task is completed you can resume your VM

    All the best

  • How to transfer data from a DLL Delphi pascal class to a LabView data cluster?

    Hi all

    I have the following problem:

    I use a dll written in Delphi Pascal to transfer data to LabView by using the "Call library function node".

    My Delphi dll contains this class:

    TFlash = class
    Fi: TFileInfo;
    constructor Create;
    procedure LoadFi (Filedir_and_nametring);
    end;

    TFileInfo = record
    IDX:smallint;
    IdxLstSpl:array [0.4] of longint;
    Ms: Word;
    [0.4] SP:array of the word;
    end;

    I created the record datastructure of TFileInfo in a cluster of LabView to have the 'same' variable.

    My plan was to call a DLL Deplhi function with the "call library function node" and pass the address of the folder TFileInfo, so the data would be transmitted to the cluster of LabView.

    When I do a simple delphi dll function as this works because I only spend a small integer to Labview (without reference to the data structure):

    ...

    var data: TFlash;

    ...

    function GetNrOfRows(FilePath:_string):integer; STDCALL;
    Start
    Data: = tflash. Create;
    Data.LoadFi (FilePath); This function returns the number of lines in the selected file.
    Result: = Data.Fi.Idx;
    end;

    When I try to use this procedure instead of the above function, in order to pass the address of the data set structure complex 'Data' (TFileInfo), I am unable to get the information of 'Data' in my Labview cluster:

    procedure LoadFileInfo (FilePath: string;) DataPointer: Pointer); STDCALL;
    Start
    Data: = tflash. Create;
    Data.LoadFi (FilePath);
    DataPointer:=@Data;
    end;

    Parameters of call library function node:

    -stdcall (WINAPI)

    -Run in the UI Thread

    -Function prototype: void LoadFileInfo (PStr FilePath, void * DataPointer);

    * DataPointer--> Type: "adapt the type" and the format of the data: "pointers to the sleeves.

    * FilePath--> Type: 'string', format of the string: "pascal string pointer.

    I'm struggeling with this problem for almost a week now and I can't really find a solution on the forum or google.

    I also read the following posts:

    http://forums.NI.com/NI/board/message?board.ID=170&message.ID=229930&requireLogin=false

    http://forums.NI.com/NI/board/message?board.ID=170&message.ID=77947&requireLogin=false

    http://forums.NI.com/NI/board/message?board.ID=170&message.ID=51245&requireLogin=false

    (or did I miss something in these messages?)

    Hope my explanation is clear.

    THX

    A little further:

    Seems like it's not possible to pass data from Delphi to Labview through a DLL when I create a cluster with 2 bays in it in Labview.

    This part of Delphi, I've had to make in Labview:

    TFileInfo = record
    IDX:smallint; {integer; Convert tool}
    IdxLstSpl:array [0.4] of longint;
    Ms: Word;
    [0.4] SP:array of the word;
    end;

    Instead of using 1 cluster with all the different data in it, I did a unit (1) with my 2 items (smallint and word).

    To pass my data in my tables from delphi to labview, I created another group (2) in the unit (1) with 5 elements of longint (because my delphi is going to 0.4) and another group (3) in the unit (1) with 5 Word elements.

    Right-click on the unit (1) and the clusterorder in the right order. First the smallint, then the longint table, then the word and the Word table.

    When I then use this code in my dll Delphi, IT WORKS! :

    procedure LoadFileInfo (FilePath: string;) DataPointer: PtrTFileInfo); STDCALL;
    Start
    Data: = tflash. Create;
    Data.LoadFi (Copy (FilePath, 2, length (FilePath)-1));         --> I need to cut the first part of the pascal string because it's length, and I only need the string itself
    DataPointer ^: = Data .fi;       --> pass the record structure to the cluster of Labview
    end;

    Thanks for the info Ralf!

  • Question about server failure and data migration store

    Hi guys,.

    I just KVM/QEMU on Ubuntu Server and CentOS using Ovirt area of expertise VMWare ESXi is an easy to fall into the domain but I have a question for Server (Host) / relationships of data store. At the moment I have 6 ESXi running on a Dell server and use the local storage in the data store. I am limited in storage in this way so I thought I'd do a NAS or SAN, cost dependant, to expand my storage levels but I'm not sure of some things, but this one being the most important. If I use the server as a host of stand-alone and everything stored on NAS or SAN, storage in case the server fails and needs to be replaced can I use a new server and in the case of new installation of ESXi and use the existing database as nothing has happened or is it possible?

    Thank you

    Yes, it will work. By default the virtual machines consist of a bunch of files stored in a folder, and as long as you use the same (or a newer version) version ESXi - i.e. a data store format supported - you will be able to access these files.

    $esx = get-VMHost-name $esxName

    $esxcli = get-EsxCli - VMHost $esx

    $esxcli.storage.vmfs.extent.list () |

    Select VolumeName,ExtentNumber,@{N='Device'; E={$_. DeviceName}},

    @{N = ' path # ';} E = {}

    $esxcli.storage.core.path.list ($_.) DeviceName) | Measure-object | Select Count - ExpandProperty

    }}

  • Visible data VMFS store on 3 of the 6 armies. 3 the remaining hosts see LUNS, status is mounted, but the data store is not visible.

    As the title suggests, all hosts see LUNS... can't understand the question. Here is a shot of the vmkernel.log captured from the server, as it was a new analysis (which translates into a loop of activity in the log file and hard + 10 minutes without change for storage).

    The SAN is preesnting LUN and successfully... so it must be on the host side. In an act of desperation, yesterday I reinstalled ESXi on a troubled host. He was able to see the data stores. Today, they were more visible.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

  • ESXi5 - problems with NFS and the data copy store

    Hello world

    I recently moved into a solution fully virtualized for my network, 3 x 5 ESXi servers running on our GigE network.

    First of all, I use all free software from VMware, so vCentre etc is out of the question.

    I have major problems when you try to copy files between:

    • NAS (NFS) to ESXi 5 host
    • ESXi host to the NAS (NFS) 5
    • And using VMware converter between ESXi 5 hosts converter Standalone

    The problem is that whenever I'm transfer between hosts I am struck with the horrible network performance. Even if I use GigE adapters and switches between my hosts I will receive no more than 12 Mbps speed of transfer real (100 Mbit/s connect?).

    On the flipside, if I use virtual guests on the same exact host I can happily transfer data between my NAS (NFS) servers with speeds between 60-150MBps ~ (1000 Mbps).

    Examples:

    Speed of 10 Mbps of transfer of ESXi_1 copy OF NFS data store share ~

    Server2008 (comments, located on ESXi_1) copy OF NFS 75MBps transfer rate ~.

    Server2011 SBS (comments, located on ESXi_2) copy OF Windows share 2008 (ESXi_1) transfer speed 120MBps. ~

    ESXi_2 copy OF NFS data store share transfer rate 5MBps ~.

    Attached (wtf.png) example:

    I copy a file that is located on our NFS share first, it's a 3 GB file to the copy within guest OS (2008), it is indicated in blue - top speed of 80MBps

    I copy the same exact NFS share for the host (datastore1), this is indicated in red - top speed of 7.5Mbps

    The third transfer/s (green) is between the customers of windows on different hosts, transfer a 6 GB file as well as a copy of the 360 MB file - transfers two happily send to GigE speeds with a peak around 40MBps

    I can reflect these results across the three servers without modification. Copies between you will be able to run well enough (not exactly 100% use of GigE) but at the moment where I try to do something to the data store it will just choke at all about a 100 Mbps connection speed.

    The final image (wot.png) confuses me beyond belief. I would try to explain what is happening here:

    • This image shows two times the same exact file transfers, except even machine PHYSICS
    • The first (red) transfer between the ESXi_2 host server and the NFS share using the browser data store and direct download - its top speed is around 8MBps
    • The second (green) transfer between a guest server 2008 running on ESXi_2, download the same file exactly at the exact location using vSphere Client. I mean the same EXACT file; It connects to the NFS drive by the data store ESXi_2 (NFS share).

    Why on earth can my comments directly download a file on a data store connected to NFS GigE clocked and yet the same exact host cannot go anywhere near corresponding to these speeds?

    As indicated in the title, the problem seems to happen whenever I use ESXi datastore browser on the host computer using vSphere Client or between browser datastore ESXi to/from an NFS share.

    No one knows what might happen?

    Is there some sort of restriction on the transfer of files between a host and shared NFS ESXi 5? Whence this bottleneck?

    Thanks in advance for all the help/ideas that guys can throw my way.

    P.S. Sorry for the wall of text, I really wanted to give as much information. as possible.

    What type of storage you have locally on the host computer?

    I have seen this problem with write-through controllers: http://wahlnetwork.com/2011/07/20/solving-slow-write-speeds-when-using-local-storage-on-a-vsphere-host/

  • What determines the maximum size of a data file store?

    I have two SAN devices that serve as warehouses of data for virtual machines.  When you look in the view of data warehouses, the Configuration tab, selection of a host (although a data store is selected in the tree view in the left pane), then selcting properties for this data store.

    On a data store the total capacity is 600 GB, VMFS3.33, Max File Size 256 & Block Size 1 MB

    On the other data store the total capacity is 1.42 to, VMFS3.46, Maximum File Size 1024 GB, & block size 4 MB

    Of course, I understand that the amount of free space in a data store can limit the size a file size may be, but I wonder what are the other factors.

    It is the block size when you format first. If you need more large file size the only way again is to reformat. http://KB.VMware.com/kb/1003565
