Advise me please, oracle under windows or linux, which is in demand?
I'm a beginner, so I can't understand wat to learn. I am an ASP.Net with c#

Hello
First of all, and that learning about windows on linux. Know a few operating system commands before going for linux. I tried to
explain certain commands in brief. Also check out the link below:

Have a problem to need advice.

    I have a WIndows server 2003 R2 (32-bit) with Oracle 11.2.0.1 and I migrate to Linux with Oracle 11.2.0.4

I've been reading on and try to use on windows expdp and impdp on Linux.

I have the sequence right to make this migration?

Export to create 1) file form Windows (expdp) I need I create full dump?

    (2) then import them using impdp on Linux. Little bit confused becuse windows and linux by using other fails the path to data files and how Max easy to do this?

    Thank you very much!

This happens because you have a different character in the source to the target database database.

For example, if you export a character defined single-byte and import into the multibyte character set it is likely that you will encounter this problem because a single character who now uses a single byte in the source database can use 2 bytes (or more) in the target database.

trial (1): failed by giving the file not found error. I discovered that I need to I have unzipped the source files in a dir.
    (2) trial: failed because there is no static IP address
trial (3): failed because that/etc/hosts was not set correctly.

the installation was supposed to be in default dir/home/oracle/app
the problem is that before every test I just renamed app app_old and once again the new installation with the default settings.

I have now to clearup this whole mess, I know this isn't simply deleting the directory created, because I need to free the RAM memory reserved for the crteated of databases in all previous installations.

    Thank you

Why a listener 2nd for the TCPS? Why not use a single listener - as is the default value recommended?

Do you have SSL certificates (root complete auth chain) for the server in the portfolio of Oracle for this server - with the generated SSL certificate request, signed by a root authority?

To see the server tcp listener endpoints, use the netstat command. Enable SQL * Net follow-up on the side of the listener if you need to trace and debug connections to the listener. Activate too on the client side if you need to trace the calls from the client to the listener.

Whereas I have to install a listener OC4J and Oracle APEX. I am concerned about this compatibility issue more. (I installed OC4J 10 g (oc4j_extended_101350) and installed as a windows associated with the application javaservice service, he spent a lot of time to solve the problem of compatibility)

    Hello

First of all, you must make sure that the event viewer service is running, all you have to do is to go to
my computer right click Properties then in computer management, you will find event viewer.

Second, expand the event viewer and go to system and make a right, and then click clear log.
You can do the same step for application.

then come back again and try to create the database :)

I wanted to tell temp is never off allocated. So, if a 'bad' query explodes temp. the only thing you can do is to create a new and drop the old one.

11 GB temp is clearly ridiculous. Usually, this is caused by the merge join Cartesian paths in your instructions.

  • Oracle database on windows

Hi, I have installed oracle 11g on windows to test the object. I am facing a few questions:

    (1) after connecting to the database. I ran the command "Shutdown". I took a lot of time. but after that I ran the startup. now, the database does not start uo back.
It is said: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

    (2) how can we check the status of the database, either running or down
I know that in linux, we can check it in ps - ux | grep tns
is there a similar command in windows

    (3) in addition, I created the general database using dbca utility. but it has not made the default tables. IE emp, dept etc.
I guess these are the base that is created tables.

  • Database Oracle from Windows to Linux migration

    Hey guys,.

I'm database oracle 11g R2 in Windows 7 migration to Red hat 5 (64-bit) Linux using RMAN by transport.sql file. I installed Oracle 11 g R2 on the two system.

But the problem is that my data files are scattered in different locations (I mean that all are not in the same directory) and I did not have enough space to all copy in the same directory. Can someone tell me how I'm supposed to write several locations as value the NAME of FILE DB CONVERT parameter when creating transport using RMAN script, I know the command for a directory only.

RMAN > Convert the new database database linuxdb

    script of transport for "C:\test\transport.sql."

    db_file_name_convert 'C:\oracle\oradata\orcl\' "C:\test".

    the platform "Linux IA < 32 bit >";

This command allows to convert all the files in the database that resides in the orcl directory and place them in the test directory. But in my case, all the files are not in the directory orcl

and I can't copy other files in there because I don't have enough space on the entire system.

I can't create transport script several times because it is incorrect.

I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

You can specify as many pairs of directories as needed

    db_file_name_convert = ('/ u01/ora/files ' ' / u02/ora/files ' ' / u01/ora/file9 ' ' / u02/ora/file9 ')

Of course, as you know, Ubuntu is not a supported platform.

That said, the error you report the OS shell informing you that there is no executable file called "sqlplus" is located in one of the directories listed in your PATH.

  • Oracle on Linux and Windows Client question database server: NetMgr Windows and Linux NetMgr

    People,

Hello. I have installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 server in the Oracle Linux 5 Starter PT853 Instance of database virtual machine. Then I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 client for 32-bit Windows XP 64 - bit Windows virtual machine. Now I face the problem of connection of the VMs 2 as below:

In Manager Net Linux Server Machine:

    Service name: PT853
    Connection type: default database
    "TCP/IP Protocol".
    Host name: localhost
    Port name: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: localhost
    Port: 1521

I test the Service PT853 with "SYSADM" username and password "SYSADM". The connection is successful.
In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is the same, but the connection is not successful. Its details are as below:

    NET Service Name: PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
The database Machine host name: localhost
    Port number: 1521
Name of the Basic Service: PT853
    Connection type: default database

I have test the Service using "SYSADM" UserID and password to 'SYSADM' which are the same with Linux, but this error: TNS: listener does not currently of service requested in connect descriptor.

I followed this tutorial http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_devices_serial_2vms.html to configure 2 virtual machines in Windows 7 host machine.

In Windows XP Oracle database Client Installer directory, the "tnsnames.ora" file has an entry that matches the name Service in Net Manager. Directory of database server installation Oracle Linux, the file 'tnsnames.ora' has no entry because I installed the server of Oracle database with the instance of database startup PT853.

I tried to test 2 virtual machines in the way as below:

    In Linux, [user@localhost ~] $ping WindowsXP_HostName
    Release: Unknown host WindowsXP_HostName

At the Windows XP command prompt:
    C:\ping localhost.localdomain
Its release: ping localhost 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data...
    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes = 32 time = 2ms TTL = 128

He meets a few times and then disconnected by itself. It seems that Windows XP is ping itself and not Linux server. The host name of the Linux server is 'localhost' as well. It is a kind of confusion for me.

From the information above, we can see that 2 VMs cannot connect between them. Net Manager in Windows XP Oracle Client unable to connect its Service PT853 with the Oracle Linux database server.

    My question is:

Can any folk tell me how to connect Oracle Client in Windows XP with the Oracle Linux database server?

    Very grateful in advance.

IP 192.168.196.102 is Linux. This means that oracle database Client in Windows XP may log into Oracle Database Server under Linux. Don't you think I'm not mistaken? If so, I'm very happy and very grateful to you.

"Do you think I'm not mistaken?

By definition, if you can establish a connection, then you are correct.
