DBMS_STATS. Set_global_prefs has scored zero for method_opt

Hello

I have a few 11.2.0.3 on windows 2K8R2 oracle databases.

I had problems with the method_opt parameter on 'for all columns size auto' which is the default value

so, I changed it to "repeat all sizes of columns.

somehow he resets.

It wasn't by me (... unless maybe I was sleepwalking, which is very doubtful)

the question is... If oracle resets this value somewhere, or in some cases?

Oracle will not reset this in any scenario I can think of, Geert, unless * maybe * as part of an upgrade/patch, but even in this case, I don't see what is happening. I don't expect that there is anything in the log of alerts either. Any chance of the table was lowered then recreated as part of little exercise? Maybe a delete-rows-by-CTAS-and-renaming?

As a side point, underlines why it is a good idea to make changes to the objects via scripts and check these scripts to edit the control. No.-adhoc DDL or changes to statistics gathering methods, etc., write a script, check it into the change control and record in a log of changes somewhere (whether on paper, in a file) or - much better - in a table in the database.
