DDR3 PC3-10600 speed RAM can be installed in a ThinkPad x201t?

A Web page at Crucial.com stipulates that the x201t can use either Modules DDR3 PC3-8500, or RAM PC3-10600 DDR3.

However, I can only find references to the former for the x201t in the Lenovo Web site.

You can install two 4 GB, DDR3 PC3-10600 RAM modules in the new x201t?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, you can install 1333 MHz modules.   However, due to the speed of the bus the X201T processors memory modules will be downclock to 1067 MHz if you have a processor i7 to LM or 800 MHz if you have a processor i5 to UNIFIED Messaging.

technically, crucial is right in saying that the X201T can use these modules.   they just do not work at full speed.

  • Satellite 1900-303-type of RAM can be installed?

    Hi guys,.

I want to know a news on my Satellite 1900-303.
What type of RAM can be installed?
I have a 266 mHz, but it is quite impossible to find now on the market at a good price.
so can I get a 333 mHz RAM, or my laptop it does not recognize in a good way?
Will it work? And how do I set the bus on the BIOS? (If I may...)

    Thank you
    Davide

    Hello

Satellite 1900-303 can be upgraded up to 1 GB of RAM.
This means that you can use 2 x 512 MB RAM max modules.
    The compatible RAM modules are:
    200-pin PC2100 (266 MHz) DDR SODIMM

I think you could use 333 Mhz too, but if the FSB is set to 266 Mhz and 333 mHz will run only at 266 Mhz.

operating system is said to be 64-bit has a graphics card separate installed there are 4 dimm slots, I know that is not double

Thanks for reading & a helping hand

    Tgirl_Alana, welcome to the forum.

Here is the page of 'product' for the computer.  If you look in the section titled 'Memory upgrade information', it shows the maximum memory as 32 GB with a 64 bit OS.  It is dual channel memory architecture.  Therefore, you should check the memory stick existing brand and match exactly.  Otherwise, dual channel does not work correctly.  Running dual channel memory is faster.  If you does not match the existing memory, it may be better to buy two new sticks as a set.

Please click on "BRAVO Thumbs Up" if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

    Hello

Yes it s possible to update your computer with a maximum of 2 GB of main memory, just put 2 x 1 GB sticks in slots and you will have 2 GB. You must ensure that you use PC3200 (400 Mhz) modules to ensure the best performance.

  • p6310f reading of RAM PC3-8500 but has installed PC3-10600. What gives?

Here, I'm confused.  I bought your desktop p6310f with 6 GB of RAM.  I couldn't resist the temptation to fill the fourth slot with another stick of RAM, so I ordered a 2 GB of RAM PC3-10600 from Newegg key since it is what the three sticks that are installed in the machine - I removed the cover and looked. After installing stick I checked to see if it was ok by CPU - Z and SIW, and saw that the system has acknowledged the new stick (Patriot) PC3-8500.

I called the Patriot - and actually spoke to a person, who said that the system could be down the RAM because of a stick "odd" as opposed to a pair that would be preferable, though even there is no support dual channel on this system.  He also said he could be a limitation of the motherboard, and he said that HP have been difficult to resolve.  He told me to remove the three original sticks of RAM and install just the food a stick to see if she would recognize him as PC3-10600.  I did what he said, and the computer recognizes the stick as PC3-8500.  I tried to call food back but could not get through.

I removed the stick of Patriot and reinstalled three sticks of oem.  When I went into the BIOS it says that I have now three sticks of memory PC3-8500.  WHA -?  PC3-8500 all along was, and I didn't know?  She changed something by installing the stick of Patriot who will not change by itself unless I have reset the CMOS?

I went to a local Best Buy today where they had their version of this machine (p6310y) on the screen, but I could not get into the BIOS.  Guess they don't want not customers bricking the system...

A favor please, someone with a p6310f and who had not touched the RAM again: start the machine and go into the BIOS.  The first screen will tell what he has memory, the real rating-PC3-8500 MB or PC3-10600.  I suppose it's possible such HP got a good deal on these sticks of RAM, they put 'em in machines where their potential is not used.

    TIA

Larry, this is the Product Specifications page for the computer.  If you look in the section titled "Memory", it shows "sustained speed PC3 10600 MB/s (message as PC3 8500).  It's a little confusing.  However, it seems that you are correct.  The motherboard can only use memory as PC3 8500.

and he will make my computer go faster?

It is absolutely essential that any new module of RAM is fully compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other module of RAM already in the system.  In addition, there are sometimes jumper switches on old motherboards that need to be reset for new configurations of the RAM.  Consult the manual of your motherboard or the web site of the manufacturer for specific instructions and compatibility requirements.

If you can't get your hands on the manual of the computer and the manufacturer does not provide a support web site, you can use these utilities to help determine the right kind of RAM required:

In addition, memory Crucial (www.crucial.com) website has a database to help find the right RAM for your specific brand and model computer or the motherboard.  (By the way, Crucial is the only company I have ever buy RAM.)  I've never been disappointed.)

  • HP 250 mobile G1 - maximum RAM that can be installed?

    Hi, I recently bought a 250 HP laptop (H6E24EA #ABU) G1: processor: Intel® Core™ i3 - 2348 M 2.3 GHz 3 MB cache • 2 carrots • Mobile Intel® HM75 Express;     Memory: (PREINSTALLED) 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM • 2 x SODIMM

Wanted to update the RAM - have read conflicting amounts - 6 GB max HP and sites of the reseller site (maybe they are just copy and paste from HP site?) - BUT 8 GB on other "cranky" sites and also the sites of RAM as Crucial when I search for this EXACT model.

    Q1: which is correct?

Q2: if possible or no one is safe, would it hurt / impair the laptop, if I chose to install the 8GB (even if it can only access 6 GB)? In other words, is it bad/harmful for computer laptop/CPU/etc if I OVERINSTALL ram (8 GB rather 6 GB HP spec)?

Q3: If the RAM chips on the two slots game (eg. need same #GB in each slot; in spec (CL, voltage, etc.); or even the brand of RAM?)

I ask because some of the programs CC Adobe (Indesign, Illustrator, etc.) CAN work on existing ram pre-installed but Adobe recommends that 8 GB. And Yes, I realize that an i5 or i7 cpu would have been better for my needs than an i3 to turn things like photoshop etc, but I really need to keep my purchase within a very limited budget and still Adobe CC minimum specifications. And Yes, I understand that overinstalling RAM can be a loss of a little money, but I was still wondering.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

The news of memory support are listed in Chapter 1, page 2.

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.BINARYPORTLET/public/KB/docDisplay/resource.process/?spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay_ws_BI & spf_p.rid_kbDocDisplay = docDisplayResURL & javax.portlet.begCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken & spf_p.rst_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-resourceState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c03763062-1%257CdocLocale%253Den_US & javax.portlet.endCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken

It seems to me that they left just on the config 2 x 4096 as the first thing that is written is that 8 GB is taken in charge.

2 memory customer module slots available/upgradable memory

    Supports dual-channel memory

Supports up to 8192 GB of RAM

So I think you see this info anywhere, they are copied to memory of this source configuration specifications.

Too bad they have not just install 1 x 4 GB PC3-12800 memory.

Now, you will need to remove the bars of memory 2 GB and install the memory 2 x 4 GB modules.

  • Compatibility of PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) without buffer RAM with HP Z800

    Hello

I recently bought a Z620 and a Z800 (second two had, of course).

The Z620 has 48 (6 x 8) GB RAM unbuffered PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600). I'm busy to remove the 16 GB of the Z620 and install them on the Z800, which has only 2 x 2 GB RAM.

Please let me know if PC3 - 12800E (DDR3-1600) without buffer RAM compatible with Z800?  It doesn't matter if I have to remove the existing 4 GB of RAM.

Thanks a lot for your answer.

  • can I install an operating system on my ram?

I went through a lot of posts on how to do that, people just give fancy words in huge paragraphs, that's the only problem I have not been able to address, I mean, Ive got a lot of things in my pc just by reading a few posts. but this, increasing the operating speed of my pc by like 1000% is too hard to resist, but I've never met a detailed procedure. It would be great if I get a link to a video that comes of showing me how to do the same thing, a break step by step what to do also would suffice.

Ask yourself, "Can I install an operating system on my ram?"

Microsoft does not provide a way, or he takes it somehow, to install one of its operating systems to any volatile storage device. This includes RAM any form or configuration.

For a moment, we suppose you could do: as soon as power was removed from the unit, all contents are lost. So, the installation will have to be repeated the next time you want to use the computer.

See an overview of what makes setup in place. The Windows DVD is put in the DVD player and Setup copy a base to HD image and preparing it for use. Control passes to the newly created system and a detection phase begins which determines the hardware in the computer uses and assembles a special computer image on the hard drive. The system restarts and uses the custom image. (The actual process may require several reboots and download files from the Internet, if a connection is available). At the end of the installation, there are on the hard drive an image of the operating system working together customized for this computer. Whenever the computer starts, it loads its core working together. How much is loaded depends on the amount of RAM available. Manager windows memory must take into account / meet the requirements of the programs started and run as well as the background as networking, memory of the file transfers to the use of system and application, & c.

Perhaps you would be worth considering the use of SSD devices or hybrid rather than or in addition to the HDs ordinary.

Depends on whether you want to replace OSX, dual boot with OSX, or run in a virtual environment.

Linux operating system isn't a BONE btw, is a generic name for all versions of Linux.
