Now I want to try and burn it to a DVD, but it doesn't seem to be recognized (I tried to drag-and - drop and also NERO). I see on the unit it says DVD-R/RW and my Web of Toshiba on-site warranty information, I should be able to burn DVDs (it was a question I asked when buying!). Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

  According to the specifications of your laptop, you should be able to burn a DVD-R/RW only. Are you sure that you are using the appropriate holder (r/RW and not + r/rw).
