Debugger VMWF that can cause problems in Win 98 SE?

Hello

http://communities.VMware.com/message/1303409#1303409

In the above referenced thread I was wondering why my Oxford English Dictionary 2nd ed. version 2 can install and run Parallels but not of VMWare Fusion. My apologies if you've read this before, but I reduced the question, so I shut the other threads and focusing on the issue of debugger in this thread. This is my last hope.

FYI, I use VMWF on iMac 24 "3.06 ghz (Leopard 10.5.7) with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GS video card. After a few hiccups, I have manged to get my USB devices recognized in Win 98 is in VMWF. Everything just works great - much better than Parallels! EXCEPT my legally purchased OED CD-ROM (which has atrocious of the C-Dilla Safedisc 1 copy protection) fails authorization on VMWare Fusion but past without any problem on Parallels. (This version of the OED works in Win 98 is and I don't want to buy an another Windoze operating system anyway). Protection against the C-Dilla Safedisc copy made by Macrovision, and is most commonly used on the game software.

I saw on the internet some mention that any presence of debugging of the softwareactivates or not will activate the Safedisc copy protection and prevent approval. (Apparently the hackers use debug software to get around the copy protection?) I have no idea. ) Parallels has no software debugging, AFAIK. VMWare Fusion does.  Is it possible to remove the VMWF debug software? Or does anyone have an experience with trying to get games with C - dilla Safedisc run on VMWare Fusion?

Please if you know, help me. The OED is almost $400 (it's 20 volumes printed on a disc). There is no logical reason why it should not work in VMWare Fusion, but install in Parallels. (If you're wondering why not just run it in Parallels? This is because Parallels running Win 98 Se very badly (their virtual tools will not install) - the screen is barely readable - not great for a dictionary!)

Thank you

The most likely explanation is that C-Dilla is looking for running on a virtual machine and refusing permission on this basis.  You should check your EULA for this software and see if you are in breach of the agreement, if you install the software on a virtual machine.

There are many ways to check running on a virtual machine.  Under binary translation, the software can detect the truncated segment boundaries that serve to protect the hypervisor of the guest OS.  You can work around this by forcing the merger to use virtualization assisted by material (like Parallels) for that person.  Just add the following to your virtual machine configuration file:

monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware"

You must remove this parameter once your installation is complete.  Merge by default binary translation for Windows clients more old both for performance reasons and work around some bugs in guest OS that cannot be circumvented by using hardware-assisted virtualization.

The copy protection software can also search for the existence of the backdoor, VMware which is not present in the analogies.  You can work around this by limiting access to the back door with the following configuration option:

monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE"

You must remove this parameter once your installation is complete.  VMware Tools will not be able to run in your guest with this option.

    Hi Linda

    Take a screenshot in Windows 7 requires several actions.

    1. press the Printscreen key. This operation copies an image of the screen to the Clipboard.

    2. open an imaging program such as MS Paint and paste the screenshot.

    3 save the screenshot image in a folder of your choice.

    =======================

    Since upgrading my Dell Inspiron 530 from Vista 32 WIN7 32 originated in the month of August, I found these programs within my OS System.

    It is almost certain that some conflicts here have asked my useful apps.

    Firefox no longer works. Chrome has flaws also. Gmail has somewhat lost its useful features.

    You have opinions, the following need to be uninstalled? Which, if any, should be the priority?

    Are there other applications known to cause harm like this?

    ============

    AVG safe search

    Glary Utilities

    McAfee

    Norton Internet Security

    PC Antivirus

    PC Cleaner Pro (PC cleaners)

    PC utility Tools

    Windows Defender

    + 1 first get rid of McAfee and Norton. Both are known to block things silently and bogged down machines with their heavy use of resources and analysis of this and that.

    Ditch then PC Cleaner Pro.  A little harsh work that many have trouble getting out of their machine.  If you want to use a 'clean' the CCleaner program test.
    If PC Antivirus are the same people who unload as well?
    Wire removal PC Cleaner Pro-

    Avoid leaving one of these utilities register "cleans" however.  Registry cleaning is a return to slow machines and the small HARD drives and RAM and can do more harm than good.
    The main reasons which need cleaning can be done with the occasional defragmentation and Windows disk cleanup (after installation of software or games, is a good time) drive hard (SSDS do not need defragmentation).
    You can manually delete the files in the Temp folder in your.
    The user-App Data-Local folder if you like. Other than that, just keep the machine erase useless files and uninstall unused software using programs and features and your machine should run smoothly.

    Also go to the System Configuration - type msconfig into the start menu search bar or in
    the 'Run' - command and go to the Startup tab.  Clear the check box next to all programs
    which need not be loaded when you start in Windows.

    You could decrease the other "bloatwares' so - Glary Utilities and PC utility Tools that they can be useful, but mostly they just make tweaks that you can do it manually the applications the Panel configuration or places like your taskbar and start menu"Properties ".

    AVG is OK, but MS Security Essentials has grown in popularity (I always use Avast), as
    is Malwarbytes (often as a crossroads/backup reference and does not work all the time).
    The threat of the new wave is rootkits. Rootkits is difficult (impossible?) to AV to detect, so
    you need something like BitDefender Rescue Disk for detection of rootkits. This is performed from a
    CD/DVD or a bootable flash drive.
    Sophos Anti-rootkit will run Windows, but it is not as effective as BitDefender.
    Note that there are legitimate programs that work in the same way as rootkits (eg. - SecureRom).

    I currently Avast resident and have Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes installed to use to cross reference analyses. I have no problems with these installed three at the same time.

  • Problems to win 8 updates

    Hello

    Installation of the updates of Windows 8 seems to be an annoying problem.
    Two of my computers win 8 have 'Clean' install of Windows 8. While trying to download and install the updates, I see messages indicating "failed"' restoration of the changes...» "
    I read some posts on this site and other sites. Most of these positions is guesses, like 'Try to do -' - it doesn't seem like someone whose Microsoft has a very clear orientation to this problem.
    Microsoft is expected to begin to take ownership of such questions, and Microsoft representatives must stop to say "I understand YOU have a problem..." »
    Anyone else have problems to install updates on Windows 8? And if so, what suggestions offer solutions?
    Thank you for all your answers.

    Hello

    Just a tip for future use. Never install .net Frameworks updated with anything else.

    Do not mix same 2.0, 3.5, 4.0, etc. together. There is a process that must run after the installation of some of these updates, and it can cause problems if there are a lot of other things.

    If you enable the Task Manager you'll see what I mean. One of them is something NGEN, and the other is something like MSCORSVCS.

    They are running before you process with more updates. Kind of pain, but less of your system crash.

    b. Article, follow "step 1: perform a clean boot" the implementation of these measures will disable all programs not Microsoft currently running on the computer.
    c. restart the computer and check if the problem persists.
    d. If the problem does not persist in the boot, it means that some programs non-Microsoft is the source of the problem.
    e. to find the program that is causing the problem, try "step 2: enable half the services" to "step 6: resolve the problem.
