Don't know much more instructions should be required for all Windows XP operating system or later during extraction of a standard ZIP file on a system that did not have installed third-party applications that might have taken the extraction/treatment of the BONE ZIP files.
Zip (compression) of files and folders
Right click on a file or a folder with many files it contains, point to send to, and then select the compressed file (zipped file).
Windows Vista will compress (zip) the file or folder and save the new file zipped in the same place as the original file.
Unzip (unzip) files and folders
You can unzip a file in several different ways.
Double-click the zipped file
To decompress a file, the easiest method is to double-click it. It will open a window with the contents of zipped files. You can click on extract all files or drag the files from the window to the desired location (example: office).
If you choose to click on extract all files, the files are extracts (uncompressed) in the same location as the original file, unless you specify a location in the Destination box, and extract the files that appears when you choose to extract them.
Right-click on the zipped file
Right click on the zip file and select extract all. The Select a Destination window will open and extract files and you can choose if you want to save the files in the same location as the original file, or you can choose where you want to save the unzipped files by clicking Browse and choose a new location.
Personally, I download, install and use 7-Zip for all needs in my compression/decompression (in general).

Please tell me something this basic is included by Microsoft. If not, WHY?
Tired of always search the internet for basic programs to do the standard things that must be included by the vendor of Windows (Microsoft).
Device for software tools market is filled with viruses and malware and offers ingenuine or by companies deemed less misleading.
It's time for Microsoft to start taking possession of all the basic things that we need these days:
1. a way to compress and decompress a file collection
2. a way to play different types of standard support (MP4, AVI, 3GP, etc.). Sometimes Windows Media Player doesn't seem to work.

I used to use program compression/decompression windows utility files to access the '.zip' files However, I need to open a ".rar" file and another file compression utility has been downloaded to my computer. I deleted the program that was installed on my computer. However, now I can't open all files with the extension ".zip". I would like to know how to get windows to use its ' default utility of compression/decompression of files again. Please help me with this.
I'm sure that its just explorer.exe dealing .zip files. For the value by default, you do a right click on the .zip file, choose open with, then choose default program. After that, place you c:\windows\explorer.exe

using win 7 pro 64 bit, years ago I took the offer 30 of winzip, but did not buy, is unable to decompress zip files, keep getting offers to see me.
By default, Windows 7 supports zip files, so to use zip files, no third party software is required.

Decompression of file created with UTL_COMPRESS
Can we not use the UNIX 'gzip' tool to decompress a file 'gz' with UTL_COMPRESS. LZ_COMPRESS?
gzip -d 2015-07-30_ccr_records_arc_purged.csv.gz gzip: 2015-07-30_ccr_records_arc_purged.csv.gz: not in gzip format
We must use UTL_COMPRESS. LZ_UNCOMPRESS? That wouldn't make sense. We should be able to use gzip or gunzip.
Here is the procedure to compress files "csv":
PROCEDURE compress_files IS dir_path VARCHAR2(1024) ; src_file BFILE ; l_content BLOB ; l_blob_len INTEGER ; l_file utl_file.file_type ; l_buffer RAW(32767) ; l_amount BINARY_INTEGER := 32767 ; l_pos INTEGER := 1 ; l_compress_rate INTEGER := 6 ; l_csv VARCHAR2(3) := 'csv' ; BEGIN get_dir_info(dir_path) ; -- retrieve all *.csv files using DBMS_BACKUP_RESTORE.SEARCHFILES in ListDir pipe-lined function FOR file IN ( SELECT column_value FROM TABLE(ListDir(dir_path,l_csv)) ) LOOP src_file := BFILENAME(cDIRNAME, file.column_value); dbms_lob.FILEOPEN(src_file, dbms_lob.file_readonly); l_content := utl_compress.LZ_COMPRESS(src_file, l_compress_rate); l_blob_len := dbms_lob.GETLENGTH(l_content); l_file := utl_file.FOPEN(cDIRNAME, file.column_value || '.gz','wb'); WHILE ( l_pos < l_blob_len ) LOOP dbms_lob.READ(l_content, l_amount, l_pos, l_buffer); utl_file.PUT_RAW(l_file, l_buffer, TRUE); l_pos := l_pos + l_amount; END LOOP ; dbms_lob.FILECLOSE(src_file) ; utl_file.FCLOSE(l_file); END LOOP ; EXCEPTION WHEN others THEN IF utl_file.is_open(l_file) THEN utl_file.fclose(l_file); END IF; RAISE; END compress_files ;
I had this problem. I forgot to put the variable 'l_pos' to the value 1 at the end of the loop.
PROCEDURE compress_files IS dir_path VARCHAR2(1024) ; src_file BFILE ; l_content BLOB ; l_blob_len INTEGER ; l_file utl_file.file_type ; l_buffer RAW(32767) ; l_amount BINARY_INTEGER := 32767 ; l_pos INTEGER := 1 ; l_compress_rate INTEGER := 6 ; l_csv VARCHAR2(3) := 'csv' ; BEGIN get_dir_info(dir_path) ; -- retrieve all *.csv files using DBMS_BACKUP_RESTORE.SEARCHFILES in ListDir pipe-lined function FOR file IN ( SELECT column_value FROM TABLE(ListDir(dir_path,l_csv)) ) LOOP src_file := BFILENAME(cDIRNAME, file.column_value); dbms_lob.FILEOPEN(src_file, dbms_lob.file_readonly); l_content := utl_compress.LZ_COMPRESS(src_file, l_compress_rate); l_blob_len := dbms_lob.GETLENGTH(l_content); l_file := utl_file.FOPEN(cDIRNAME, file.column_value || '.gz','wb'); WHILE ( l_pos < l_blob_len ) LOOP dbms_lob.READ(l_content, l_amount, l_pos, l_buffer); utl_file.PUT_RAW(l_file, l_buffer, TRUE); l_pos := l_pos + l_amount; END LOOP ; dbms_lob.FILECLOSE(src_file) ; utl_file.FCLOSE(l_file); l_pos := 1 ; /* this fixed the probelm */ END LOOP ; EXCEPTION WHEN others THEN IF utl_file.is_open(l_file) THEN utl_file.fclose(l_file); END IF; RAISE; END compress_files ; /

How to decompress a file service with Adobe Reader?
I said I need Adobe Reader to decompress a file clean, but I don't see anything about this anywhere on the Adobe site. Can anyone help?
You cannot decompress a file by using the Reader app. Adobe Reader is a PDF reader not a zipped files Extractor.
Use Winrar to extract the files & folders.

Is it possible to write a program to decompress the files in pl/sql or sql?
Experts in the morning,
I have a zip file on my host that contains a list of files (reports). Each of these files have a different name and I already wrote the code to retrieve data from these files.
My oracle is installed on a linux server
Now my question is this:
is it possible to write a sql program to decompress the .zip files (located on my host) and stores its contents in this same folder?
Thank youKevin CK wrote:
So my best bet would be to decompress the file using 7-zip (free) and load the files separately myself. This is probably the route I'd go down, especially if you have several files in zip archive.
