Zip (compression) of files and folders

Right click on a file or a folder with many files it contains, point to send to, and then select the compressed file (zipped file).

Windows Vista will compress (zip) the file or folder and save the new file zipped in the same place as the original file.

    Unzip (unzip) files and folders

You can unzip a file in several different ways.

    Double-click the zipped file

To decompress a file, the easiest method is to double-click it. It will open a window with the contents of zipped files. You can click on extract all files or drag the files from the window to the desired location (example: office).

If you choose to click on extract all files, the files are extracts (uncompressed) in the same location as the original file, unless you specify a location in the Destination box, and extract the files that appears when you choose to extract them.

    Right-click on the zipped file

Right click on the zip file and select extract all. The Select a Destination window will open and extract files and you can choose if you want to save the files in the same location as the original file, or you can choose where you want to save the unzipped files by clicking Browse and choose a new location.

Personally, I download, install and use 7-Zip for all needs in my compression/decompression (in general).

Device for software tools market is filled with viruses and malware and offers ingenuine or by companies deemed less misleading.

It's time for Microsoft to start taking possession of all the basic things that we need these days:

I'm sure that its just explorer.exe dealing .zip files. For the value by default, you do a right click on the .zip file, choose open with, then choose default program. After that, place you c:\windows\explorer.exe

  • How to decompress a file service with Adobe Reader?

I said I need Adobe Reader to decompress a file clean, but I don't see anything about this anywhere on the Adobe site. Can anyone help?

    Hi chrisjeant84285729,

You cannot decompress a file by using the Reader app. Adobe Reader is a PDF reader not a zipped files Extractor.

Use Winrar to extract the files & folders.

  • Is it possible to write a program to decompress the files in pl/sql or sql?

    Experts in the morning,

I have a zip file on my host that contains a list of files (reports). Each of these files have a different name and I already wrote the code to retrieve data from these files.
My oracle is installed on a linux server

    Now my question is this:
is it possible to write a sql program to decompress the .zip files (located on my host) and stores its contents in this same folder?

    Thank you

This is probably the route I'd go down, especially if you have several files in zip archive.
