Default file name: Windows and scan Windows (Windows 7)

How to change you the file name by default for a scan? I tried the method below:

"To change the file name by default for a scanned document or photo, right click on the name of the file in the view of Scan and then click Rename."

For me, this method only renames the current file and does not affect the value 'default'. Furthermore, is it possible to assign a unique number or the date (s) default file name? This is important when the follow-up documents.

Thank you.

That's what it's supposed to do, rename the current file.  There is no way to change the default name prior to his assignment to a digital file, however, I think that you can change the name before saving it.  No, there is no way to assign something unique default file name.

  • How can I get the 8.3 file name short AND way?

We use some old DOS programs and need to use the old format back (filename.xxx). When the files are in the long trees, it is very difficult to find the names of files under Windows.

There was a response published in Google (http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/522710.html) which works very well under XP, but when I use it in Windows 7, I get the long file name.

Does anyone know how to do this?  The program can be changed?  Here is the program of this flajason-ga posted, but it must be updated for Windows 7 (I only know how to program in Foxpro).  Thank you, Alan

After my last comment, I read your details a little closer.
The last script I posted was to list out a whole directory in 8.3 format.
If you are looking for a friendly way of Clipboard to recover the 8.3
for individual files, that will be more to your liking.

Same thing as before. Copy the below into Notepad and save it with a .vbs extension.
Except that this time, you can simply drag and drop a folder or file icon
on the .vbs file and it displays the short path in an input box.
where you can copy the value and use anything you want to.

If you're industrious, you can also save the .vbs file in your
Folder "send to" (C:\Documents and Settings\ [yourname] \SendTo) to have
It is available in your context menu with a right click.

    Gilenya,

After you create a new folder, you must go inside this folder to save your photos.  I'll bet that you created the new folder, and then you click OK (or save), which caused the pictures save a level upwards in the folder that you created.
  • Cannot unselect the file name extensions and hidden items

    Nice day

I use Windows 8 Pro. I noticed that all my files file name extensions
are visible, so I went in to my folder and under show/hide display board, I saw that "File name Extensions" are checked
    and "Hidden Items" unchecked.
I then tried to uncheck "File name Extensions", but nothing happens. The checkbox just reappears and I can't delete
the name of the file extensions, so to speak. Also I cannot view my hidden object because when I check this box it displays a check mark
for a split second and then it is still a time unchecked.
I also went in Folder Options in Control Panel, click on "View files, folders and drives" and I checked
him "Hide extensions of known file types" applied, but nothing happens. When I reopen it the Folder Options both of them
    Yet once are unchecked.
If anyone can help me in this matter, it will be appreciated gratefully.

    Avoiding it is not possible.

However, you can prevent the submitted file if it has a

It is also possible to set the field to display the file name, by using this code

  • Change the default file for downloads and some user folders locations

A big thank you to all who have helped me, more recently DAXnnn and try * 3.  I come once more in need with questions.  For the cleaning of my boot partition before cloning to a smaller SSD, I'm getting cause folders USER My Documents, my music, my pictures, and my videos to be moved to a different physical disk drive.  I also want to do the same with the downloads.  After trying to use MKLINK (without success) and the location of the tab in the properties for folders (in vain), try * 3 put me on editing the registry.  While I did not yet any change, I followed his instructions to look under HKEY > CurrentUser > software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > Shell user folders and confirm watch registry.

What I found is that the actions I took before running into problems using the options of localities had caused registry entries updated to show the new names of path of My Documents (under personal in the registry path) and my music.  This leaves downloads, my pictures, and my videos to be changed before the data transfer of the boot partition to reduce before cloning.  I discovered the writings of my pictures and my videos contain a variable %UserProfile% then the names of folders.  My assumption (often a wrong thing to do, I know) is that I can change these entries replacing %UserProfile% with the name of path, including the drive etc letter describing where I want to move the old data and write new data and changes.  IS THAT CORRECT?

Regarding downloads, what I discovered is the second entry in HKEY > CurrentUser > software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > User Shell Folders, below (default) is a name {374DE290-123F-4565-9164-...}, displayed once indicating the value of % USERPROFILE%\Downloads.  Using my penchant for the skip logic, I assume that I can edit this article replace the value data with the path name where I want future writing downloads.  IS THAT CORRECT?

If I can confirm or correct information, I am very close to stripping the size of my partition boot prefixed operation clone to place what's left on my SSD.

Thanks to all for participating in such a large forum community!

    HR

Yes you are right.  If you want that your download location for be moved, just change:

    Old: %userprofile%\downloads

    New: E:\OtherDrive\Some Windows\

This will make all your downloads stored in the folder 'folder of some '.  Just be sure to include a folder name and make sure that this folder actually exists.  Make sure not to say a disc like E:\ or all your documents could get dumped at the top of this reader, rather than in a folder.

  • Windows Picture and Fax Viewer seen only by Crescent and descending file name. I want to do more...

Hello.  I use Windows XP service pack 3

When I reformatted the computer earlier (before I updated my service packs and all), I could go in my windows Explorer, I could see all my photos by file name, updated and the date of creation (both increasing and decreasing) with windows fax and picture viewer.

Now (after installing the latest service packs), when I find my pictures with Windows Explorer, I can sort the photos by what I mentioned above, but windows fax and picture viewer will only see in photos by file name (ascending or descending order), it will not display the photos in order by size, date of creation or update.  Even if the order has changed viewably on explore, I can't see the pictures created or modified or size of the order (order asc & desc).

I clicked on the update column, with the arrow going down on the selected column, and also once again, if the arrow is pointing upward.  Then I went to double click on the first picture in the amended order, and after I saw the first picture, I clicked on WP & F viewer (or use the arrow keys on my keyboard) the arrow to view the next photo in the changed order and the next picture that appears is in order of file name!

Now, I want to be able to switch between the use of all columns or sorting:

~ file name (order asc & desc)

    as well as

~ modification/creation date (also in order asc & desc)

    or

    Size (order asc & desc)

is there a way to fix this without having to download new programs to view my photos?  Or having to rename one of the file names?

I don't think that it has nothing to do with the dates of my photos.  They have all of the appropriate dates stamped on.  And rename one of them to a single specific command won't help.

I really enjoy using windows greatly fax and photo viewer.  I don't want to replace it.  I just want to see my photos in order, I want to see them with windows fax and picture viewer.  And I would be very happy to help on fixing this problem.

I thank you for your time, and hope you're answers coming soon.

I restored my computer twice, and I don't know when it started to happen to me, but today I started thinking, ' it did not use to jump around like that. " I am looking for an answer now.

Edit: Hey, I think I've found a fix for this problem!

First of all, I tried this http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/windowsxp/162211/Picture-and-Fax-Viewer-displays-images-out-of-ordersite, but the solution did not work for me. Then I found this site http://www.compu-help.us/157.htm, and the first suggestion seems to have solved the problem. My images now show in the order. (Summary: a patch for the computer messed up Windows and Fax Viewer.) To correct, click Start and then run. In the run box, type: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll)

  • M1212NF multifunction printer - add file name after scanning

    Hello

I recently installed a M1212NF MFP for a customer.  They must be able to save scanned in PDF with the same file name without overwriting the original file. Instead, they would like to have a 4 digit number appended to the file (for example filename.0001.pdf, filename.0002.pdf etc.).  They would also like to be able to define their own file names instead of using a base (for example, customefilename.0001.pdf, customfilename.0002.pdf etc.) file.

The printer has been installed on a network and does not act as a local USB printer.  The PC using the scan functions is under Windows 7 64-bit.

I installed the software that came with your printer, but cannot find anywhere where it can be configured.  I know that after HP products have been able to do this via the HP Solution Center.  The solution center not delivered with the product.  Since I tried to install the HP Solution Center software, but I can't go beyond being invited to connect to the printer via a USB cable.

I know it's easy enough to manually change the file name of the scanned pdf file when you are prompted to replace to save.  The function append is convenient for my client, given the constraints of time & workload.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanking you in advance.

    See you soon,.

    Sonny

Unfortunately, this is not an option for support with this printer.

    Sorry

  • Message outlook to PDF conversion: change the name of the default file to the time instead of the subject?

I have a large amout of email that I convert to PDF using a plug-in in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI through messages Outlook 2010.  I don't want a portfolio created, rather a single pdf file.  I've been open every message and conversion to pdf format, rename the file with date/time (subject line is the default file name), can I combine PDF mutiple files in a single document.  This process would go a lot faster if I could change the file name by default at the time, rather than rename them myself.  Does anyone have an idea on how to change this setting?  Or any other ideas to make this process easier?

    Hi melrogotzke,

In Outlook 2010, when you click on the tab 'Adobe PDF' there is an option "change Conversion settings.

In the present, uncheck the option "Output Adobe PDF portfolio when creating a new PDF file".

You can now select the mails in outlook and convert to PDF and all selected emails would get combined into a single pdf file.
