Windows Explorer.  Using large icons, I can't see a picture.   The picture flashes for a second then appears the default icon (a lake and mountain). I can only view a photo in the photo library.  This just started happening.  What has gone wrong?

    Miniatures,

Open your my pictures location, click on organize in the upper left corner, click folder and search options, click the view tab and uncheck the top option, always display icons and never thumbnails, select apply and save.

Return to your location of my pictures, change the display of the page on the top of the right side next to the question mark symbol, there is another symbol with a menu drop-down symbol, click it and select the medium or large icons options specified.

  • Windows 7 taskbar and start menu large icons are either missing (empty by default) or do not show the right program.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium on an AMD Athlon (TM) II X 4 630 2.80 GHz with 6.0 GB of RAM (64 bit OS). PC is up-to-date with the latest updates and use Norton Anti Virus.

I used this PC for several months with no problems. After doing some research in my menu of the taskbar Windows Explorer and start icons have become corrupted. The links always work but do not show the right program.

I tried several things to fix this. I removed everything in the start menu and taskbar, rebooted, added a few back but the problem still exists. I deleted the icon cache file (renamed to db.old), restarted, problem still exist. I made a recovery of a checkpoint system before the problem was still not fixed. When I go to small icons, the problem disappears. The problem only seems to appear when you use large icons in the bar of tasks and the start menu.

Based on what I've tried so far is there any other suggestions on how to fix this?

  • How can I change the height of the menu bar to allow my large icons/buttons maintain their size?

I've recently updated to FF31 FF28. Totally different user interface, I get that. I waited to update until I psych myself to try something different. I have the default theme Australis and Noia Fox Theme, which is designed with the larger icons/buttons for those with Visual needs. On my screen at this moment, I have the title bar, menu bar, tab bar and toolbar url/addon with the menu "Burger" on the right. I placed icons in the bar of menus, kept the House icon in the bar of the addon, and then there are the default icons in the menu popup. When I activate the Noia Fox Theme, look great icons in the addon/url bar, even in the popup menu; clear, large, easy to see. However, the icons in the menu bar (not the menu popup) are less than half their size origin/destination. So I'm going to default Australis theme, reboot and same problem, but not quite as dramatic as the default theme is smaller at first.

My thought then, is that there is a setting in the menu bar which resizes the icons/buttons for a small default size. This setting can be changed to allow icons to keep their size original (or near it) and if so, how? I like the location of the menu bar on my screen, underneath the title bar above the tabs bar. Works very well with the new Fox only better addon that attaches to the tab bar and mask the url bar, a 'new' for me and I love him. I know that I can get the CTR with an additional bar and I tried that. The question, then, is that the extra bar appears below the tab bar and that it is not moveable to above the bar below the title bar and tabs.

For the moment, I have just the two themes, security addons added and The Fox but better. I haven't added any other addons of appearance again in order to minimize potential conflicts/problems. I have not tinkered with internal FF by default not to follow the other parameters to tell me (I think that's what I did). To the best of my knowledge limited, I kept the changes and customizations to a minimum. And Yes, by your feature of conjecture to posted questions, I'm under Win 8.1 and 31 FF.

I think I've offered sufficient detail so that others may try to reproduce the problem. Otherwise, let me know and I'll try to answer as soon as I can. Thank you very much for any help offered.

You can also try code like this that I posted before on icons placed on the menu bar:

    #toolbar-menubar > toolbarbutton > .toolbarbutton-icon {
      height:24px!important; width:24px!important; margin:-3px!important;
    }
  • Recently changed the screen resolution. Said Yes when asked if I wanted larger icons on the new resolution. You want to return to the original settings.

Sytem restore tells me that no changes.  Which is bullshit as when I went back to smaller resolution icons have been spaced more far and the gray area at the top of the screen did not return to small.  This means that I have to use the first symbol to minimize, and then right-click to get on the net.  The square and the cross are off the screen.

    Hello Elenoe,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

Not positive I understand exactly what you are trying to accomplish, however for the two questions you have with the larger icons and minimizing Internet Explorer I'll give you some steps to resolve.

    Large icons

-Right-click Law Office > click Properties > click on settings tab > click on advanced > click on the general tab (if we by default)
-Under view > compensates for the ppp settings.

    Internet Explorer minimizing

From your description, it sounds like your Internet Explorer is beyond the edge of the screen.

-Right click on the icon to the taskbar for Internet Explorer > click enlarge

Maximize your screen to the right size?

If the minimal State, you can't get the edges in order to size the window try:

-Right click on the icon to the taskbar for Internet Explorer > click size > press your up, down, left, or right arrow key to select which edge you need to move.

For example, if you move the right edge: press your right arrow button > by using the left and right arrow keys move the right edge of the window, and when finished press on enter

    Hope this helps

  • Lost the ability to display thumbnails in WIN 7 (large icons)

I have seen this posted several months ago, and there was no real solution.  I looked everywhere on the web, and I still have to find a solution.  I can't believe that nobody has a solution, but... I'm starting to think that I'm stuck with the problem I have.

BACKGROUND: WIN7 PRO, ACROBAT 9 STD (LAST PLAYER IF INSTALLED)

PROBLEM: I have thousands of. PDF in hundreds of cases.  When I go to a particular file, I chose view to large icons.  The "thumbnail" is more fills and all I see is an icon of WIN.  That I have updated various. PDF, I have change some colors on the homepage - it allows me to look at a file and know what components are updated, and what items should be updated.

    TROUBLESHOOTING:

    1. Open Acrobat and selected the file > Open (in this dialog choose extra large, medium or large icons and wait) - this worked last year when I had this same problem with a system running Vista - NO CHANCE
    2. Tools > folder options > view tab (always show icons, never thumbnails is disabled)
    3. Restored the default folder settings and unchecked always shows icons - NO CHANCE
    4. played "Repair Installation of Acrobat" - NO CHANCE
    5. Uninstalled and installed just Adobe Reader - NO CHANCE
    6. Uninstalled Reader and performed a clean install of Acrobat - NO CHANCE
    7. Register 'edit' for ShellEx under class .pdf (seen it out there for the same problem with .gif and .jpeg so thought maybe? grasping at straws but worth it)- NO CHANCE
    8. Restore the system to 'before' issue started happening - No. L KLA

Short of reformatting my system and starting over, I'm out of ideas and found nothing new on this out there (the last post was in 2009?!).  Would not really solve the problem but rather to subordinate the issue disappear until it pops up again.  I find the reason that what is happening 'out of the blue"and a solution.  I have not tried all the options "third party" and would like to stick with the help of all that worked up until this last week - ACROBAT.

Thanks for any help there - sorry to duplicate a thread, but I've not seen this recent when I did a search here.

You can try a few search terms at http://search.microsoft.com/search.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US to see if Microsoft has an article describing a fix

  • remove the default labview icon

    Hello

I have compiled a dll in LabVIEW which is called by a c# application.

When loading windows shows a task in the toolbar with default labview icon.

    This is not wanted.

One option is to customize the icon (as possible with executables) or delete the task in the task bar when the dll is running.

    What is an option?

    Thank you

the only way of difficulty was to uninstall updates.

After installing the latest updates, my screen on large icons, screen too large for my moniter the only way of difficulty was to uninstall updates.

Sounds like something in the update causes a conflict with your video driver or change the resolution settings.

The first thing to do to solve the problem is to try to install each of the updates one at a time instead of let Windows Update do several updates together.  If you're lucky, the problem can not ride again.  If so, you'll know at least update is the cause of the problem.

If the problem persists, try right click on an empty area of your desktop and select properties to open the display properties dialog box.  Select the settings tab.  Look to see if the screen is correctly identified and if the resolution seems correct.  If you spot something wrong, change to the correct setting.  If everything looks correct, you can try to change the resolution to see if that can solve the problem.

You can also check the website of the manufacturer of your graphics card to see if they have an updated display driver.  Updates of the operating system only sometimes work correctly if you have the latest version of the drivers for the various components.

If all else fails, you can uninstall the update one that is causing the problem and mark do not show you this update again in Windows updates.   Doing so will be considered a last resort - especially if the update in question is one of the security updates.

Original title: display of the icons in the folders

How to view my files permanently when it comes to photos? I want to have icons either medium or large, because whenever I want to download photos I have to manually switch the view. Help, please!

    Hi Kailababy,

By browsing folders in the computer folder, you can apply the current view to all folders on your computer that are optimized for the content of the file that you have opened. You can open the photo folder and change the view to large icons, you can request large icons view in every folder that is optimized for photos.

You can read the following article and check if it helps:

  • A procedure for security (false?), I did changed my desktop icons for the default system icon

I have 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate on a HP laptop.

I read a review (whose source I can't remember, but I think this is Microsoft) that there is a security hole in the desktop icons that would attack at a distance.  (Yes, I know.)  So he gave a procedure to remove the danger with editing the registry, with the warning that it would make the normal icons disappear and be replaced by the default system icon.

I performed the procedure and the icons have disappeared.  And I did not back up the registry first.  (Yes, I know.)

Now, I know I don't want to live with all the icons, the same.  I have read many procedures on Windows 7, etc., but none that hits home.  And try the remedies to these problems is no help either.  Can anyone help?  Thank you very much.

After three weeks of research, I posted the above message, then found the solution almost immediately after:

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/233243-default-file-type-associations-restore.html

I have selected the "LNK" link and run the registry script it contains, and returned all the icons.  It is only the shortcuts that have been replaced.

(This time I saved the first restore point!)  Problem solved, in an orderly manner.  TX to all who examined him.
