Default program error
I recently installed the latest version OS. I had installed CS6. Now when I try to open files that have been associated with older Adobe products, I can't put the new default version. I uninstalled the old version of CS6 and reinstalled the new versions CC little success. I was able to get the indd file to open as a result, but I can not JPEG files to open in Photoshop unless I have to open in the software. I want to be able to double-click a jpeg file and opened it in Photoshop. When I try to set Photoshop CC by default, I get a configuration error message, error: 1. I am on Windows 10. Please, as I have already uninstalled and reinstalled without change.
It seemed to me set myself. I checked the registry and there was a remnant of the old CS6 in there, so I found this place and remove these remains (on my drive, not in the registry). This allowed me to set the default program for Photoshop CC. Phew.

Hi Mr. Minister,
Your question is still there while in Safe Mode? If so, you try to run a SFC scan for troubleshooting the corrupted system files on your PC.
To perform a scan of the SFC, follow the steps on the following link: How to use the tool File Checker system to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or Windows 7
Your computer may also be infected and needs to be cleaned in order to work properly. I suggest that you try the steps listed in the related post below with your question:
You can also try a clean boot troubleshooting method to see if it helps you solve your problem.
I hope this helps. -

It started when the links in my Windows Mail messages stopped working. I received an "Application not found" error when I clicked on a link in an e-mail. I went online to find an answer and told everything to use the list of default programs. But IE is not on it and I cannot Explorer to display in the list, no matter what I do. It is, however, listed as my browser program by default when I go to IE tools > Internet Options > programs.
At the same time links Windows Mail has stopped working, IE icon disappeared from my office. However, I was able to restore, and that seems to work very well, like the Explorer himself. I tried to reset the default settings of IE using tools > Internet OPtions (although that I changed the personal settings), but that does not make the difference.
Also, it seems that the 2nd IE icon (which looks like a small page, rather than the usual 'e' with halo) on my bar launch and in my programs. When I click on that, I get a message saying "Windows searches for IExplore.exe. To locate the file yourself,... "And then it says the shortcut has been changed or moved. This would be part of the problem?
Hello purgould,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.
You have whatever it be listed in your programs by default, or is it completely empty?
If there is nothing listed, you can view the link here which has a solution that helped some people. If you don't have some programs listed in default programs, then that would probably not help.
Have you tried doing a SFC/scannow?Try the following steps:
First of all, we run System File Checker to see if you have a corrupt file system.
Click Start
Click on all programs
Click Accessories, and then right-click on the command prompt.
Select the Security tab and choose "Run as Administrator"
Click on command prompt
Type SFC/scannow.
It will scan and repair any damaged operating system files.
If please reply back and let us know if this helped with your question.
Sincerely,
Marilyn

Hello-
I'm looking for here (or get) help directed to the right forum regarding an error message I got when trying to open a PDF file. The error message indicates "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if such is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel. "To be quite honest, I don't have the slightest idea as to what to do with respect to this message and I need some advice ASAP. I have the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader installed and if I have to contact them instead about my problem, please let me know.

Cannot associate an e-mail program on default programs, as none are listed
Original title: PROGRAM ASSOCIATION
I can not associate an e-mail program on default programs, as none are listed. I a Mail.Live and an Outlook account, I can send and receive between my Comcast email, but the box 'contact us' on some websites have the error message stating "there is no e-mail program associated to this. I don't have MS Office. WTF?
If you use a Webmail and access them through your browser (e.g. Internet Explorer), mailto links will not work. Windows is looking for an email client by default than Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc. -
I get this dialogue whenever I try to choose to open one file with other than the default program. Sometimes, there are some programs to choose and they work but when I select "choose default program" all I get is this dialogue. This also applies when there is no program to choose from. The biggest headache is when there is no association at present such as .db files which could create a storage backup or similar program. When I right-click on these files, I get the dialogue immediately. Windows 7 - all to this day. (I'm aware of files, newspapers and others if necessary and has already attempted a difficulty with sfc/scannow as administrator.) He suggested some files cannot be repaired and showed me the log file. Everything in the log file was 'OK').
A registry of missing/incorrect key may cause this error. Apply the difficulty #12 'Open with' error "this file does not have a program associated with from this link (unzip and run the REG file)."
(FYI, the REG file is a file in plain text that you can open with Notepad, where you need to check its contents before the merger).

I find this weird problem affecting that explorer.exe and not any other .exe files. When I open explorer.exe in the taskbar or the C:\Windows\explorer.exe, the dialog box opens and indicates "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if such is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel. ». The control panel default programs Dosen t State .exe in the list of protocols and I find it complicated to press the windows logo and click computer each time. Please tell me that there is a way to solve this problem by means of edit this record.
I have not tried running sfc/scannow then chkdsk/f, two found no error.
