Definition of default Syslog size via PowerCLI

Hello world

Im trying to set the file size by default default syslog with the following command:

Game-VMHostAdvancedConfiguration - $esxHost - Syslog.global.defaultsize name-value 2048 VMHost

I have the following error:

Game-VMHostAdvancedConfiguration: 14/05/2012 10:47 Set-VMHostAdvancedConfiguration "Syslog.global.defaultsize" is not valid or exceeds the maximum number of characters allowed.

Im a little lost on this. I tried to focing the value is an integer and a string, but nothing seems to work. Ive also tried setting the log file to 0 and 1024 but get the same error. I can put the logs manually with esxcli without any problem. Can someone tell me where Im going wrong?

Concerning

The case in the advanced options is important.

If you like this, it will work (note the capital S in defaultSize!)

Set-VMHostAdvancedConfiguration -VMHost $esx -Name Syslog.global.defaultSize -Value 2048

BTW, this isn't a feature PowerCLI, the API also wants the correct case.

    Original title: default window size

My windows 7 opens too small windows.  Can not know how to make default to a larger size.

    Hi archievee.

Do not use Maximize. Take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Close all other windows first via the taskbar and the latter. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window.

If this does not work, try this.

Right-click on the icon and select Properties. Under the run drop-down list, select Maximized.

    I hope this helps.

  • Cultivate a disc of virtual machines via PowerCLI

    Hello

I'm looking to cultivate a few volumes on some servers via PowerCLI. I got the code to extend successfully the volume inside the prompt below OS once I increase it configured size through the user interface.

    Hard drive get "name VM | where {$_.} {Name - eq ' hard disk 2 "} | Together-hard drive - CapacityGB 20 - ResizeGuestPartition-confirm: $false

    My question is:

Is it possible to increase the size put in service of a disk via PowerCLI I could run before the above code that extends the volume inside the guest OS?

Thanks in advance for any help!

As each correct answer, I'll have to start with "it depends".

If this isn't the vdisk that contains the system partition, you can simply use the hard drive Set cmdlet with the CapacityGB parameter. See example 2.

If it is the system partition vdisk, you need to use the parameter HelperVM of the cmdlet Set - hard drive .

Note that the virtual machine and the HelperVM both must be switched off!

How to make the default text size and line spacing in small Sticky Notes

    Hello

I suggest that you try the method below and check if it helps.

Method 1: analysis of auditor of file system (CFS)

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files. To perform a scan of the SFC, check out the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833.

Note: the steps for Windows 8/8.1, works perfectly with Windows 10.

    Method 2: clean boot

A clean boot is executed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This will eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program, an update or when you run a program in Windows. Follow the link to perform the clean boot: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135.

    Hello destine,

It seems that one of the options in the colors of your advanced windows has been changed. You may need to experiment a bit to find out exactly who should be changed in order to solve the problem you are having, but experimenting a bit, it seems that maybe that's the Box of Message.

To change the font of the Message box:

    • Right click on the desktop
    • Click personalization
    • Click the window color
    • Click on advanced appearance settings
For element, use the drop-down arrow menu > select Message box

Under police > change the size to 9 > click OK

    Hope this helps

  • Default font size cannot be restored

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 on a desk. For unexplained reasons, the font size of all the configuration windows (a window where you select for example the font DPI) have opted for a font size tiny who cannot yet be read without a magnifying glass. I tried to restore the default font size in the window of the control without result Panel.

I can indeed click the bar 'restore the default fonts', but on that same windows at the bottom left is a button which remains grayed out so I can not confirm this choice and he will take no effect.

Is there a work around to restore this font size by default please?

HKEY is a path within the registry. Registry is where Windows stores the parameters key, including the boot settings and other complex parameters, which makes the work of Windows.

To open the registry editor, goto start-> type regedit.exe-> click on enter. If UAC prompts, click Yes.

In the left pane, you can see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click on the + to expand the tree. Under this expanded tree, look for software. Expand it. Similarly, look for Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes\MS Shell Dlg. You can see your current path to the status bar.

Once you click on FontSubstitues, on the right pane, you can see the list of parameters. Goto MS Shell Dlg 2. Double click on it. Tahoma type, click Ok. Then close the Registry Editor window. Now reboot the PC and verification.

Before you proceed, see the following link for the backup of the registry, which is recommended:

  • How do you define the default font size and color for the text caption and text boxes?

  • How to calculate the IOPS datastore / s and latency via Powercli?

    Hi all!

I want to calculate the IOPS / s (RO/RW) and the latency of the data via Powercli store, but I cant' find this metric in Vcenter (in the data store tab) and see no metric for data via the cmdlet Get-Stat store.

How can we measure IOPS / s and latency of data store?  For example I know veeam monitor this information - http://cdn.swcdn.net/creative/v16.8/images/screenshots/products/VM/Lg/EN/VMan60-Orion-Datastore-Top_Lg_960x540.jpg

I know, I can get this VM or vmhost metric, but I need information on the data store.

How to measure for IOPS / s and latency of data properly store?

    Thanks in advance!

These measures are collected on ESXi nodes, entity would need to have the ESXi nodes where these data warehouses are connected.

You can use the Instance property to filter.

Under the PerformanceManager , you see all the measures for each indicator it indicates under which entity this metric is collected.

And Yes, the cmdlet Get-inventory returns no data warehouses.

There is a little, aggregated metric for data warehouses, I'll have to find an alternative for those.

    Nice catch!

  • How to calculate the CPU Ready on Cluster DRS via Powercli?

    Hi all!

I have a DRS Vsphere cluster. I want to know what is the value of the loan of CPU I have in my group.

For example, I get 20% of powercli value, it is normal for the cluster, but if I have 100% or more, I have a problem.

How to achieve via Powercli? And how to calculate the percentage values correctly?

I know, I can get all values of CPU Ready of VMs cluster, but IT is not the same thing, I need overall value of CPU Ready.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know you can get the cpu.ready.summation for ESXi nodes or VMs.

For a cluster, you will need to get the value of each node in the cluster ESXi and then take the average.

The metric cpu.radey.summation is expressed in milliseconds.

To get a percentage, you need to calculate the percentage of loan period during the interval during which it was measured.

Something like this (this will give the loan current %)

    $clusterName = "mycluster.

    $stat = "cpu.ready.summation".

    $esx = get-Cluster-name $clusterName | Get-VMHost

    $stats = get-Stat-entity $esx - Stat $stat - Realtime - MaxSamples 1 - forum «»

    $readyAvg = $stats | Measure-object-property - average value. Select - ExpandProperty average

    $readyPerc = $readyAvg / ($stats [0].) IntervalSecs * 1000)

    Write-Output "Cluster $($clusterName) - CPU % loan $(' {0:p}'-f $readyPerc).
