Delete the data file

Hello

I need to remove a data file, but I'm getting the following ORA-03264: "unable to delete the file from the locally managed tablespace offline data.
* Cause: Abandoning the offline data file in tml
"* Action: try to delete the file afetr, making online.

When I try to make respective tablespace online, I get the following Ora errors: ORA-01122: "database %s file has no control of audit", ORA-01110, ORA-01210

How to fall this datafile?

Thanks for the tips.

file is there, but it looks like that is corrupt.

Since the database is in the archivelog like you mentioned, you can try to recreate the file and thus to recover the file by using newspapers to archive. That would leave the database online and then you can proceed to the drop. You can try to recreate the file with the command,

ALTER database create datafile 'file name' like 'name of the source file. "

Before that, move the original file to a different location or change its name. Also check that you have all logs archiving with you.

  • On the use of the data file

    Hi all

Last week I was simulating a crash of my database (Oracle 11.2.0.3, last group of patches) due to data files missing. So, I just removed the data file where my web application stores the data to see what's going to happen. But nothing happened, demand is rising and running and I was able to create new items in the user interface and save them. Normally, all these data are stored in oracle.

After that I created a few articles, I bounced the database. Then I restored and retrieved the data file with RMAN. All items I created after the deletion of the data file were there.

I would like to know, in which oracle order would write the DML commited to for recovery logs and the data file, so that I can explain the behavior of the application. I was wondering how the commited changes after deletion of the data file have been preserved even after the restoration of the data since the last backup RMAN file.

    Thanks for any input.

    Best regards

    Coby.

every time that you agree to any transaction that the LGWR writes that transforms redo log buffer to restore the log file. When saturates redolog files then it launches checkpoint and writing each thin to the log file archive.

DBWR writes data to the buffer cache of datafile only if it doesnot have free tampons with him.

In your case, what could have happened is when you deleted the data file and made changes in the database. He could not write these changes to the data file and made the entery in the redo log file.

so, after you have to bounce the database and restore the database and retrieve using the archiving log. you'd get output like media recovery complete and all the changes made to the database once you have deleted the data file, all the changes has returned to recovery.

    Hello

The process of database have a file handle for the data file - this remains even when the file is deleted (it disappears from the normal file system navigation)

You can see if you have lsof installed

    just try

    lsof | grep datafile_name

Once the database is restarted and the released file handle so you will not be able to do this any more - and in fact you will get errors when it can't find the file.

    See you soon,.

  • Time Machine, delete the old files from MacAir?

We had a MacAir and a MacPro at home and both were using backups time machine on our 2 TB Time Capsule. I sold the MacAir and replaced by a new MacBook. Can I delete the backups Time Machine of old MacAir and make room on my time Machine 2 TB for Macbook? I get a message of disk space for the first backup of the MacBook.

Can I delete the backups Time Machine of old MacAir and make room on my time Machine 2 TB for Macbook?

Yes you can.  Your next question may be 'how' to do it.

Use the Finder to open the disc Time Capsule, named "Data", except if you have renamed the reader

Here, you will see two files sparsebundle, each bearing the name of Mac, who has been the object of a backup

Click on the name of the sparsebundle file on behalf of the Mac to highlight the file

Click the gear just above the window, and then click place in the trash

He is not coming back, so make sure that you delete the correct file.

Once the deletion over... it should only take a few minutes... Turn off and restart the time Capsule and you should be all set.

  • Cannot delete the plist file system.

My Time Machine is not automatically back up my drive. He worked for some time (don't know why) and then stops working automatically. I tried to implement the procedure laid down by Linc Davis, delete the file com.apple.TimeMachine.plist, but make the message: 'com.apple.TimeMachine.plist' cannot be changed or deleted because it is required by OS X.  I tried to change the permissions in the file information window to include Administrator Read and Write (only has this permission system. Which translates the message: "the operation cannot be performed because you don't have the necessary authorization."

Using the terminal window and sudo rm command produces the same message.

I do a backup manually through the system preferences window, but it shows immediately that a backup disk has not been selected. Next time, I select the backup disk, perform a manual backup. Repeat the next time, I have run a manual backup.

10.11.1 on new iMac, retina 5 K with 16 GB of memory running. Has made a migration to this previous computer Mac Pro 10.7.5.

Also the Time Machine backup drive icon backup weather icon to see the Machine. Relaunch the Finder does not fix issue.

Question: How can I delete the plist file?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

A bug in OS X 10.11.1 prevents automatic backups that happens when a desktop Mac (iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro) is connected to a UPS (UPS) with the USB feature.

Please, back up all data before proceeding.

First, check the App Store for a later update to OS X. If it is available when you read this review, install it and see if the problem is resolved. I speak not beta versions.

Otherwise, you can work around the bug as follows.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine RequiresACPower 0

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting. You will be asked for your login password. Nothing displayed when you type. Type carefully, and then press return. If you do not have a password, you will need to configure one before you can run the command. You can get a warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to display the warning.

If you see a message that your user name "is not in the sudoers file", then you have not logged as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.

Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal.

    Restart the computer and test.

  • TDMS-2503 error recovery - delete the index file does not

My team worked an acquisition of data on some test machines, and I went today to begin the analysis of the data.  It turns out that two of the TDMS files that we generated cannot be opened in Diadem, Excel or use the controls file TDMS Opend in LabVIEW.  I also tried the repair of PDM tool, with the same result.  The test machine has since been demolished, so there is no way to re - run tests.  Is it possible to have the files was looking to see if all the data can be recovered?

The files were generated with LabVIEW 2013 SP1.  Attemtped to open them in the same version of LabVIEW, and Diadem 2015, and the importer of excel (excel 2010).

TDMS files are rather large (> 1 GB), but the tdms_index files that were generated with them were 0kB.  Delete the tdms_index files and re - open the TDMS files had no effect.

A first look into files (using the primitives to open the binary in LabVIEW), the initial section of the appearance of correct files (readable metadata that matches from a work file in a non-working file).

He seems to have no notable connection between the two files that will not open, nor the differences in the situation of these files for work files.

Any help would be greaty appreciated.

TDMS files are written in chuncks.  At the beginning of each chunck belongs to the human readable semi which is data such as channel names and groups, but contains no actual data.  Then follows the binary data.  The index is intended for all semi human readable file and any data.  This should make the reading of the file easier because the file offset and such are in the index file smaller.

This being said if you have some sections corrupted in your DDHN file you can always get the data out of it.  There is a code floating around that pull each of the segments and find out what is the problem, then all allows you to get all the data before the wrong section.  This thread talking about it, and a short code displayed around page 3.

  • is it safe to delete the temporary files?

a game on MSN games froze the screen. The solution I got was to remove & reinstall Java, delete cookies, temp internet files.  I will lose any important data if I delete temporary files?

Temporary files because they are are temporary and can be deleted safely. Of course, when you remove cookies from Web sites that you visit often preventing login/password information and then you will have to re-enter.

The only time where it is not recommended to delete the temporary files is when you install a program, and if this program always needs to restart to complete the installation.

It is rare that any who save their important data in temporary since the temp files folders are always flushed when the user run CCleaner or all files temporary cleaner.

  • When I download compressed files, they go to the local > temp location, when I extracted all the files, they are sent to the My Documents folder. Can I go to the local > temp location and delete the zip file?

When I download compressed files, they go to the local level > temp location, when I extracted all the files, they are sent to the My Documents folder. Can I go to local > temp location and delete the zip file? Knowing that I still have the data in the My Documents folder.

Once they are checked, of course. If you want to keep a backup, you can move the zip file in your documents folder.

In fact, you can delete everything in the temporary folder that is not currently in use. Best time to do this removal is immediately after the start, before launching other applications.

  • Deleting the .db files

    Hello

We want to write a script that will remove all .db files when the user wants. We noticed that in addition to the .db files that contain regular stored data, there are files with a .db extension even what are internal files I don't know what's in these files but, I fear that the metadata they contain are beyond the contents of the DB and take them off can cause damage to the system, while the user is interested simply delete the data stored in the database not to spoil the system.
The problem is that is no way to separate between these files and the DB content that both files have the same extension.
    Any idea?

    Published by: 975807 on December 17, 2012 12:06 AM

I want to just make sure: I can count on this format? I mean, isn't that possible internal files with a prefix other __db will exist?

Your original question was on internal database files. Replication is the only part of Berkeley DB that uses internal databases. If you exclude the files corresponding to __db*.db, you will not remove our internal database files.

If you use replication and you plan to remove all user databases, you plan to do on all sites or just a customer? Continue replication after the deletion of all user databases? Why would you use the file system to perform deletions rather than remove the Berkeley DB or dbremove call to remove each database?

I am less familiar with all other internal files to all other parts of Berkeley DB. I think we use the prefix __db for each of them, but I'm not 100% sure. You may want to post this more general question on the forum of Berkeley DB:

    Berkeley DB

We cannot make any guarantees on the internal file names in future versions.

And another question: assuming that only delete us files that are not internal files, it has the right to remove some .db files, or there might be all the dependencies between files so that if delete us a few of them this will damage the other features?

If you use Berkeley DB replication, I would not recommend that you remove a subset of your user databases by using the file system. It will compromise the consistency of your replicated sites, and you will have to reset them from scratch. When you use replication, if you want to remove the individual databases, you must use the calls to delete or dbremove of Berkeley DB to do this on your master so that these changes can be replicated correctly to customers.

I am less sure of the answer if you are not using replication. I think that there are some cases where databases have reports of consistency between them. For example, the secondary index and abroad of Berkeley DB features require consistency between multiple databases. And, of course, an application could easily have its own requirements of consistency between databases. This seems risky to me, but you can get another opinion on the general forum of Berkeley DB.

  • Way to delete a data file

    Version: 11.2.0.2
    Platform: AIX 6.1

My first post on this has been moved by someone from the community of ASM. I deleted this post and I post it here.

Our tablespace application ran out of space, and we had no free space left in our system of data files. We had little space left in the file system for archiving logs. Because it was urgent, I added a file of 10 GB data to this tablespace BUT in the files system to archive logs. The next day, administrators added system space to our system of data files. Now, we have enough space in the data files system and we want to move the data file mentioned above for the file system to store the data files.

The data file resides in the archive disk group
    /ltmprod_arch/LTMPROD/cmdata07.dbf
I want to delete the data above and add it in the file system for the data: /ltmprod_data
    /ltmprod_data/LTMPROD/cmdata07.dbf
What is the cleanest way to do this?

Published by: Kavanagh on March 27, 2012 08:08
    Removed the word disk group

This can be done without a DB downtime. But the tablespace must be taken offline

    Step1. Take the tablespace offline
    ALTER TABLESPACE yourtbs OFFLINE ;

Step2. Take a bkp of the datafile and move to the new location
    mv /ltmprod_arch/LTMPROD/cmdata07.dbf /ltmprod_data/LTMPROD/

    step3.
    ALTER TABLESPACE yourtbs RENAME DATAFILE '/ltmprod_arch/LTMPROD/cmdata07.dbf' to '/ltmprod_data/LTMPROD/cmdata07.dbf';

    Step4. Bring the tablespace online
