Cannot delete the file/directory/app in Finder
I tried to update WhatRoute but something went wrong. I rebooted the update and that worked well, app works.
However, since that time I have a file in my trash, called 'WhatRoute.app' which cannot be deleted. Finder said "cannot be deleted because it is currently in use". Activity monitor shows nothing. Restarted several times, also I tried mode secure but nothing helped.
Tried to use Terminal using the "sudo rm... / WhatRoute.app", but get an error message indicating that it was a directory that cannot be deleted.
While it is now? an application in use or directory? And how do I get rid of him?
Help, please!
Make sure that Whatroute isn't in the login items, then restart the mac and try to empty the trash again.

Original title: printer problem
Whenever I have print a page of Microsoft Office or on the web, I have another print page after him the name of the file: directory: model: title: topic etc. I rang the manufacturer of the product and said it was a Windows problem. I had rung Microsoft Support and they could not help also and asked if I would like to speak to one of their technicians for $ 75 USD. As I am from New Zealand it would have cost me probably $100 maybe a little more after the exchange fees and credit cards and not been sure if they would have the right answer. Is there someone out there who may be able to help me because it costs me ink and paper?
Salvation of the bones,
Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.
According to the description, you get additional information when printing a document.
1. what operating system you have installed in the computer?
2. What is the brand and model of the printer?
I suggest you to refer to the thread that the suggestion has solved the problem:

Delete the files in the C:\i386\svcpack directory
I need to free up space on my C: partition, this directory looks like as if it had a good number of files that can offer valuable space, I need
Hi Yoda-R6,
Deleting files from the i386 is not recommended, unless you have a genuine Windows XP installation CD. Sometimes the files in c:\i386 (or C:\Windows\ServicePackFile\i386) are needed to replace a damaged operating system file. It doesn't happen very often, but if this happens to you and you have deleted the files, then you may need to use the Windows XP installation CD to replace the files.

Deleting the files corrupted in the recycled folder
I am running Windows XP and I have tried to run the defrag program. The program will not work until the end because of corrupted files (4) in the recycled folder. I can view the list of files by going to the command prompt, but no action that I have tried there will allow me to delete these files. How can I delete these files in the recycled folder?
You have left out some important information and may not have read material thread the Tom very carefully.
Represents the drive on which this basket located in NTFS or FAT32 format?
On NTFS, XP drives, the name of the file from the Recycle Bin is DRIVE: \Recycler
On the FAT, XP drives, the name of the file from the Recycle Bin is DRIVE: \Recycled
(The name change again in Vista and Win 7, but you said you have XP)
If the drive is NTFS, it was converted to FAT32 or formatted directly?
If you used the CONVERT command to convert a drive to the FAT format on a disk formatted in NTFS, you will always have the directory drive: \Recycled old, but he is no longer the basket. If this is the case, you can delete the whole directory (if ensure that a directory C:\Recycler exist, just in case) using rmdir /s in a command prompt window.
You can read all documents under the "basket" at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
There are several methods to remove otherwise undeleteable files. In ascending order of the drawbacks:
Method 1
Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following commands in the command prompt window and press ENTER after each lineCD C:\Recycled
ATTRIB s h - r *. *
Del *. *If the last command was NOT successful, then
Method 2
1 always open method command prompt window, start the Task Manager
Find explorer.exe in the processes list, right-click and select end process
Return to the command prompt window and see if del *. * will now delete the files
If the files are deleted, return to the Task Manager, click on file > new task (run...), type explorer.exe, and then click OK.If the files still do not remove, then
Method 3
Redemarrer restart in Safe Mode, and then follow the steps in method 1If the files still do not remove, then
Method 4
Download the iso file to a live Linux such as Knoppixdistribution.
Burn a CD using a tool like the free ImgBurn
Boot from the CD (you may need to change the boot order in your BIOS)

There are two ways to compress files in windows. Zip files and built-in file compression. It's built-in file compression. For more information on compression type zip in Start - Help and Support .
Photos, music and video are already compressed. They can get larger if Windows tries to compress it any further. Also usually a bad idea to compress system files.
If you have files of worksheet they can very well be compressed. If you have files, installation files, they can also be good candidates. Web pages are also good candidates.
In Windows Explorer, blue file names means Tablet (it is the file system compression not aka zip files compressed files). Green filename means Encrypted.
To disable file names colored, in Explorer - Tools menu (Alt + T)- display tab and then clear the check box for Show encrypted or compressed NTFS in color .
Windows compression, encryption and security to work for the most part by applying attributes to a folder and the files in the folder inherit the folder.
If you have all the files appropriate for compression, find them in solution, made Explorer right click - Properties - general -Advanced button tab - Compress contents to save disk space. Choose to apply to all files and folders when asked.

Hi all
In my vi I used write on the worksheet and read from spreadsheet to create a file or modify the file. Now I want to add a longer IE delete a file.
Requirement: should I have a combo box, where the list of files, everything I have is listed on. I will keep a button named delete. When I press the button Delete, the file selected in the drop-down list box should be removed.
How can I do? any idea?
Attached something to help you get started. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask in this example is simply listed content of a file and stored paths and file names in a key-value pair (by group) and add an option to drop-down list box. When "delete" button, the event fires and deletes the selected file.

I'm a bit confused about the Windows XP search results pane. I need to winnow down remove some of the documentation noted that the results do not apply. If I remove them in the search results pane, am I actually remove the document from the PC or just delete the search result and leave the document in its original file?
Hello
You delete the file. Try it yourself...
- For example, create a document with a unique name (say qwerty987.doc) word
- Search all files and folders to qwerty987
- Right-click on the file in the search results, and then click Open containing folder
- Research of two results of window and the window of the folder containing the visible file (resizing and movement to achieve, as appropriate)
- Remove the test file in the search results window and watch it disappear from the other window too

I got this file from my friend got sent - is a word document, I had on their computer. So I tried to use Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files, temporary internet files and files program downloaded. Does not work.
When I check the properties, there is no security tab so I can't transfer ownership in this way.
I don't want to experiment using the way of the transfer of ownership command prompt as the name of the file is several sentences long. I can't rename it either, of course.
Windows 7, a week and I already have a stupid problem which has already lost an hour of my time.
What I did was to create a Notepad file that was empty and saved in the same location as the file that won't go away. Once registered. I click with the right button on the new file and rename the exact name as the file problem. Don't forget to change the file extension (ex: .doc)
ex file problem: word.doc
new file: word.doc
as long as they match eachother exactly you should see the file problem disappear and once that's gone, you can delete the new file created.

Deleting the files from unwanted program
I uninstalled a program, but I can't delete the files. When I "think" I deleted (recycle emptied) they reappear later. How can I get these on my computer? Oh, and it still shows on my installed programs (w/34.5 MG program sometimes stays, but no msg is used) and when I click on uninstall, it says there is no such file or directory. But there are? Me sorry I tried the shareware. They are in c:/user/programfiles /-programs are PC Confidential by Winferno, SRS Studios and Stardock Objectdock.Hello
Assuming that you have uninstalled via the Control Panel, software (not only deleted the folder of the application) it might help to reinstall the offending application and uninstall it right afterwards.
Kind regards

What happens if I delete the files in the Temp folder in Windows 7?
What is happening in the windows--> Temp folder in windows 7, and if I delete the files there, that will be a problem? I want to free up the disk space of 1.8 G, but can't find any info anywhere of the consequences of deleting these files, what they are for, or how they got there. Thank you!
In general, it is safe to delete anything in the Temp folder. Sometimes, you can get a "Cannot be deleted because the file is in use" message, but you can just ignore these files.
For safety, do your Temp directory deletion right after you restart the computer. Sometimes a program installer will put something in the Temp directory it needs to complete the installation after a reboot. If you restart and wait a bit so that they were, whatever left in the Temp folder should be OK to delete it.
If you want to be conservative, use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool (type of cleaning disc in the search box). If you select "Temporary files" as one of the elements to clean (deleted), by default, that Disk Cleanup removes only the files that have not changed in 7 days.

Cannot delete the file *.vswp
Hello
We have ESX 3.5 Update 2 and I can't delete the file *.vswp from the data store.
BTW this directory ist only this file *.vswp and the virtual machine has been removed from the inventory by using Infrastructure Client.
I have already tried:
service mgmt-vmware restart
but it does not help.
Even this:
VMware-cmd - s unregister /vmfs/volumes/vmware:storage1/TEST/TEST-461053fd.vswp
VMControl error - 11: no such virtual machine
make one
PS auxfww | grep-i 'Test '.
This should get the process ID for it.
