Delete the vCenter Agent after eval

I have been using a vSphere stand-alone version but has moved to a trial after obtaining an EqualLogic SAN.  I wanted to see how the EQ Snapshot Manager worked with vCenter and to determine what level of the license, I would need for vCenter.  I was told that the systems would be to stand alone after the eval but they do not have and I can't determine how to proceed.  The error message says I have to remove the vCenter agent to apply new stand-alone license but an article indicates that the host must be in a connected state to remove the agent.  Since the eval license expires the host is in a disconnected state.  Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums.

When you register to download ESXi, you should have received an email with your license number 'free. ' Simply apply the license in the vSphere Client configuration tab. If you do not find the license number you can retrieve it by downloading the ESXi Hypervisor (free version) again. Your license number will be displayed on the original download page.

  • The vCenter Agent to 4.1 upgrade

    Good afternoon!

I just built a 64-bit VM to host my server vCenter Server 4.1.  I install the vCenter server software and installation is indicating that it needs to update the vCenter Agent on all hosts.  If I choose Auto and allow installation to upgrade the agents (4.0), this will affect my VM production environment?  This should be done in a maintenance window or it will cause the end of production of VM?  Thank you for your help.

No this will not affect production, the vCenter agent will pass on your ESX(I) hosts.  However, you can see the guests enter a State of disconnection/not responding during this time, which is normal.  I prefer the value my conservative DRS (5 stars) because sometimes during the upgrade many DRS events are generated as your inventory appears to be in a disconnected state.  Once all your guests and you can return to a State connected in vCenter you can enable DRS back to what it was before.

  • Cannot install the vCenter agent service. Cannot download agent.

I have a little trouble with three of my ESX servers. I'm in vCenter Server 4.0.0 162856. I have three clusters that I am currently using. One is my cluster of blade test environment on our old equipment on our internal network (running ESX 3.5). One is our new cluster of blade on our internal network. The final (and) I have a problem) are the pole of blade on our external network. The new run ESX 4.0.

When I tried to add new hosts to our new cluster of blade on the internal network, everything went relatively well. I am trying to simply add hosts to the cluster on the external network, but every time, I get the "cannot install the agent vCenter. service '. Error failed to download agent. I read on the web that this can happen sporadically and try to remove/put on your ESX servers. I tried with all three, and no download. I first thought that the hard drives of my hosts were too small because I am booting from SAN and dug 25 GB drives strictly to the operating system. So, I tried 50 GB hard drives, and that did not help.

My guess is that it may be some sort of firewall issue and asked our network guys to unblock the ports 902, 905 and 8443. Still, this does not seem to help. I checked the file/etc/hosts and three servers, the vCenter server, and the server for the backup is defined in there. I also tried removing and time of the cluster. The only thing that does not work I don't know a ping servers that are defined in the hosts file works (but not other local servers) is vmkping, which gives a * not configured vmkernel stack * error.

Someone at - it ideas? Do you think it's firewall or vmkernel associated? My understanding is that the vmkernel would begin after it is attached to a host, but I could be wrong on this matter.

    Thanks to all who help!

  • delete the archive logs after cold backup?

    Hi all
my database is in archivelog mode, I do COLD backup every night, can I just remove the archive logs after I do my cold backup, because there is no need of them, as the closed DB should have all the info in the archived papers

and archive connected is needed only during the day, if a sudden power outage that happened.

    Thank you very much

The ArchiveLogs allow you RollForward a backup restored to a specific point in time.

Assuming that stop you your database at 23:00 (2300) every night and backup up to 11 h 45 (2345) tracks...

Significant transactions entered between 15:00 and 16:00 on Friday, but a person deleted by mistake the lines (or some other lines) at 17:00

your current backup strategy of "restoration" of the database only allows 23:00 Thursday night. If you also back up your archivelogs (in this case, the backup of Friday night would the archivelogs), you restore Thursday night backup 'cold' and "rollforward" by publishing a RECOVER database with the HELP of BACKUP CONTROLFILE until 16:00 Friday.

  • Is it safe to delete the original score after successful cloning?

I have a Mac mini mid2010. I swapped his optical drive to an SSD. Then I cloned the operating system partition and everything works perfectly. My question is whether it is safe to delete the original "Macintosh HD" that I cloned, or if there is a way to keep its files being accessible if I don't get them mixed up.

    Thank you

Delete the old folder on the internal drive home page only. I should leave everything alone in case you need to boot from this drive. However, in general, it is safe to reformat the hard drive. But it depends on what you plan to do with it.

  • HP 450-011: delete the recovery partition after upgrade to win 10?

I have a new HP 450-011 and it came with Win 8.1 and the recovery with the letter D: drive partition.  I did the upgrade to windows 10.  I made a set of recovery DVD for win installation 8.1.  Is there a reason for me not to delete the D: drive and replace it with my information?  I seriously doubt I'll want to roll back to 8.1 Win.

    Greetings,

Have you tested the Win 8.1 HP Recovery disks before installing Win 10?

A question is: If you need technical assistance from HP tech for a possible hardware problem. HP normally requires that the factory installed operating system to take in charge. This policy of HP may have changed during the upgrade to win 10. I do not suspect.

You can export the recovery, Partition because it will not work now in any case.

But you need a way to go back to win 8.1 when you need HP warranty support.

Since you have already upgraded to Win 10, the only way to check the recovery of 8.1 Win disks is to use them and start all over again. Or the support of disks/USB recovery HP Win 8.1 on a new equivalent or larger HDD or SSD. A good installation means that you have now the factory install on this disk.

    It's a lot of work.

The problem of guaranteed support is your problem.

I have eliminated this problem by installing Win 10 on a new SSD. I have HP Win 8.1 on a separate SSD and win 10 on a different SSD. Possible guarantee problem solution means earn 8.1 running on HP SSD factory to check the problem of winning 10 SSD.

  • Can I delete the second partition after recovery media creating?

    Hey,.

I just create recovery media, with 2 DVDs and I wonder if I can now delete the partition on the HARD disk, which contains a folder named "HDDRecovery" called 'Data'

    Hello

There is nothing special, just remove them as you usually do. The thing most important you have already made the recovery discs. :)

  • x 360: delete the recovery partition after installing Linux

    Hello

My x 360 laptop with 10 Windows works fine. I just installed Linux dual boot (w. Windows 10) on three new partitions. The scores are as below. E, F, G partitions are Linux.

    I have these questions please:

    1. is the recovery partition (D) no longer, now that I have partitioned the disk? (I did a recovery USB flash drive when I bought the computer)

    2. is it safe to remove the recovery partition (D)?

    3. There is also a small partition of 980 MB. What is c? Is it safe to remove?

    Thank you

    YCC

Sorry, no.  You can not recover by using the HP Recovery partition after you change the partitioning scheme.

As it is now, you might as well delete it.

It will not hurt to remove it now because the HP Recovery works doesn'y work in any case.

I know Macrium Reflect can backup and restore Windows and Linux distros because I have tried it, myself.

    Good luck

  • Delete the administrator user after you stop it

I enabled the administrator account by using the command:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Vista has created a large number of files of the user for the account (for example, in users\Administrator, such as AppData for Microsoft Office, etc.). I suspect Vista may have created other records and information (for example, registry settings) when I activated this account.

Since then, I have disabled the account administrator for assistance:

NET user administrator / active: No.

I want to go back to the computer where it was until I enabled the administrator account. (My normal account has administrator rights).

How do I know which of the files user\Administrator can I remove? Can delete everything in users\Administrator?

    Thank you!

    Hi sachelis

Leaving the folder on your computer will do no harm. However if you want to remove it, you can go ahead and delete it.

Note: All personal files that you created in this hidden administrator account will be deleted.

    Good luck

If you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a record of startup repair.

If you follow the instructions to bleepingcomputer link below:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • vCenter Agent upgrade during the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1

I was hoping someone can answer a question for me please about the upgrade to vCenter Agent

By choosing the vCenter Agent upgrade, automatic choice would require guests be restarted? I guess that the answer is no, but here your audit. I have attached a screenshot for you to see.

What is best practice, automatic or manual. I have 1 datacenter, 3 groups. 1 cluster 5.0 other 2 clusters 4.1

Auto choice would require guests be restarted?

    reset is not necessary...

If you choose the manual option you must goto each host and then re - connect the host so that the agent, VPXA gets upgraded and connected to vCenter

You can create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problem.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.
