Deleting the guest of RMAN RMAN backup files
DB version: 10.2.0.4OPERATING SYSTEM: AIX
Due to space constraints, we had to change our retention policy today. So, I need to manually remove some old backup files to free up space. Should I remove the backup files of the OS by using the rm command and then issue a
delete expired backup;
Since the RMAN command prompt?Or is there another recommended method?
If you delete them manually from the o/s, then you must perform a BACKUP of OVERLAP before EXPIRATION to DELETE.
Or once you change your retention policy you can deliver DELETE OBSOLETE, which can be the safest way to make sure that you delete the wrong backup files inadvertently.

original title: open my files
I can't delete the post of WinRar on my files that were downloaded and now I can't get anything to open
Please describe your problem in more detail. Tell us that that "cannot delete" means. Exactly how do you try? What happens when you try? If you get an error message, please quote verbatim.
Or do you mean 'change' expansion, rather than "delete." Have you tried?
And one last point: If the files have the rar extension, what are rar files. The file format does not remove or change the extension. If you remove or change the extension, they will always be rar files. A rar file can only be successfully opened by Winrar or a compatible program.

How to find the total size of the RMAN backup files?
Hello
env: Oracle 10 g 2, RHEL 64 bit
My customer has a production database where rman backups are taken: level 0 backup every Sunday and level 1, Monday to Saturday.
I have very limited access to this database of production because it is managed by a third party, and they don't give me my required info (don't know why). I don't have access to the rman repository. To connect to the database that I have to connect to a staging server, then connect to the database server. I have no access to Enterprise Manager. So in short, my access is limited. I want to collect information on the total size of the files of rman backup - both for level 1 to level 0 backups separately. I understand that this info can be retrieved from the rman repository. Is there a dictionary views/tables of data where I can get this info?
Best regards

You cannot change the format of RMAN backup
Hello!
I am trying to restore a backup of the database controlfiles in a new host solaris11 with RMAN in oracle 10 g. I have a solaris10 box where I installed database10g. As far as I know what I have to do is this:
> define the dbid = 718308982;
> startup nomount;
> set controlfile autobackup format of disc type of the device of ' / u01/app/oradata/ACBET/%F';
> Restore controlfile autobackup.
However when I try to change the format, nothing happens.
RMAN > set controlfile autobackup format of disc type of the device of ' / u01/app/oradata/ACBET/%F';
executing command: SET CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT
RMAN > show all.
RMAN configuration parameters are:
CONFIGURE REDUNDANCY 1 RETENTION STRATEGY; # by default

CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # by default

Hello world
The problem with this restoration has been far from my knowledge. The real problem was that the backup files that they sent were made in a different boutien than the one I used in the new host. For the sake of those who find this post in the future, you can not use rman to make. Until the date of this post, he must either use a simple import/export (with pump data if you like) or using transportable tablespaces to move a database between the hosts with another platform.
Thanks for all the help.

WITH THE HELP OF RMAN BACKUP CATALOG
Hello...
I INTEND TO TAKE THE "ORCL" DATABASE BACKUP USING THE CATALOGUE. FIRST, I CREATED A DATABASE USING DBCA NAMED "RMAN". NOW, IN THE FLASH RECOVERY AREA, I'LL HAVE TWO FOLDERS "ORCL" AND "RMAN".
MY QUESTION IS THAT... I HAVE USED WITH RMAN CATALOG AND TOOK THE GAME TO FULL DATABASE BACKUP AS BACKUP... BUT THE BACKUP SET WAS PLACED IN

I WANT TO KNOW WHEN I USE CATALOG RMAN DATABASE AS WHY IT IS IMPLEMENTED BACKUP ORCL...?
SO WHAT'S THE CHANCE OF CREATING A SEPARATE DATABASE "RMAN". ?
SEPARATE RMAN DATABSE IS JUST FOR CREAT CATALOG, THEN THE REGISTRY ORCL IN THIS CATALOG DATABASE?

RMAN >
Published by: Muhammad.Usman on July 28, 2009 23:01You can also take your backups without a recovery catalog database. The additional advantage of using a database to catalog vs using the controlfile as repository (default average) target is essentially
>
RMAN automatically manages backup metadata in the database control file is saved. To protect and maintain metadata backup for long periods of time, the RMAN Repository is created in a separate database. This repository is generally referred to as a catalog of recovery. The benefits of using a catalog of recovery include:*
Stores long-term backup information
*Store the metadata for multiple databases
*Restore a backup available on another system
Another reason to use a recovery catalog is the limited size of the target database control file. If the control file is too small to contain additional metadata from backup, then the existing backup information are crushed, making it difficult to restore and recover using these backups.

How to create a database in the server-2 based on the game of RMAN backup in server-1
Hi all
I need help related to RMAN backup in the following scenario, my server-1 details are given below.
* Operating system-Windows server 2012 R2 Standard Edition
* Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64 bit Production
PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
CORE 11.2.0.1.0 Production
AMT for 64-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production,
I have configured RMAN and level 0 and backup of level 1 with on the external HARD drive.
all the RMAN backup is located in this drive external HARD only, same archivelog.
My question is,
How to create a database to Server-2 based on the RMAN backup I took in server-1.
It's to help me create a server test and even if the server-1 crash, then I can create a database in the new server-2 with backup I took on the external HARD drive.
Is it possible to achieve the same or not. Kindly suggest me or share a good Internet link or document and share your knowledge to achieve my need of stimulus. This will really help me
It does not matter whether you use ASM. The link above should guide you on how to change the file names of data before restoring if the location of the data file on server 2 will be different from server 1.
Since you asked for 11g binding, it is here

The copy of RMAN backup format
Hello
use the following rman block to take incremental backup to recover.
run{ allocate channel c1 type disk format 'd:\copy\%f'; BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1 FOR RECOVER OF COPY WITH TAG 'full_backup' DATABASE ; }
It creates the backup under D. COPY directory, but the name of the backup copy is the data file file number. How can I take backup that has the same name as a data file that is users01.dbf real?
Thank you

Hello
Thanks, but unfortunately it can not work. By specifying a file name unique 'users01.dbf' for the full database backup will ask other files copy to replace users01.dbf and command would fail. I got the solultion that is as follows.
BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\SYSTEM01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 1; BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\SYSAUX01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 2; BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\UNDOTBS01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 3; BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\USERS01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 4; BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\FLOW_1046227278781593.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 5;
