Cannot delete the desktop shortcuts
I recently added Dell Dock. Shortcuts added were on the quay and on the desktop. When I tried to delete the desktop shortcuts, I received the following message:
"Cannot find this article.
It is no longer in the Office of C:\Users\Public\Public. Check the location of the item and try again. »I then deleted Dell Dock and now am stuck with 5 shortcuts on my desktop that are not going anywhere, not open to anything, and I can't remove.
Someone please help!
Hi StarsSkyClouds,
Thanks for the response on the Microsoft answers Community Forums.
Try to remove these in safe mode shortcut icons. Follow the steps on how to start in safe mode.

Step 2: Click on the command line option.
Step 3: Type notepad and press ENTER to open a Notepad. Press Ctrl + S, and it will open a save dialog box.

Cannot delete the desktop icon: Network Magic?
Running Windows 7 64-bit HP. Network Magic is installed as a 30 day trial when I've upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 (why I've never waited so long?). I uninstalled by getting in pure Networks/Setup...etc; It's, I think I've done the proper uninstall. However, I can't get rid of his Network Magic Folders icon on my desktop. I can't even move the icon on the desktop. Right click gives: open and create a shortcut. Selecting open doesn't do nothing, shortened by selecting creates a shortcut on the desktop that can be deleted. Suggestions?
EDIT: Here's an answer essentially the same question (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7desktop/thread/3a90c945-1072-4bb7-9afc-ec8df2cee03b). However, I'm not good in the registry to work, I can't go wrong with it as I don't know if the answer is there.
That did the trick:
Delete this key...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\ {C55C499D-3518-44a1-998E-796AC5FC989D}]

hdiutil detach is not delete the desktop icon
I write an installation script. With the help of hdiutil, I am able to mount the DMG, copy the stop bits and then, supposedly, detach the drive. Detachment seems to be working (the dough is capture of the output log file):
30/08/16 21:18:30 UPDATE APPLY: hdiutil detach succeeded
30/08/16 21:18:30 UPDATE if APPLIES: "disk3" not mounted.
"disk3" ejected.
However, the installation icon is always on the desktop.
Is there a way to get hditutil to remove the icon that it put?
Thank you

Cannot delete the desktop icon! Driving me crazy
I currently have a Norton Security Scan icon on my sidebar icon list. I uninstalled the program, I don't know how she even had it installed since I have McAfee and Windows Defender, but the stupid icon won't go away. I have tried right clicking 'delete', but it says that it cannot find the file, so it will not remove the icon. Help!
The easiest way is to reinstall the program > removes the icon > uninstall the program again.
But you can not reinstall norton, as you now McAfee installed as your AV.
It's updated operating system Vista, upgraded installation and activate Forum.

Should I delete iPhotos when I get the Photos app?
I have Photos and iPhoto on my iMac. I am satisfied with the Photos app. Can I just move the iPhoto application to the trash? What happens to my library of photos, movies etc. ?
You can, but it is not recommended
The iPhoto application takes up very little space and is very difficult (if not impossible) to recover if you want or you need
And delete the iPhoto library will recover very little space- Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

Photos deleted from the Photos app after importing and deleting off iPhone
As the title says, today I was importing my photos and video of my iPhone for free space and to save my photos of my MacBook Pro. After everything has been imported, I deleted all the photos from my iPhone. Began shortly after the deletion, all the pictures I imported "up-to-date" and by removing themselves from the Photos app (on the macbook) and the iCloud photo library.
I'm a bit frustrated because it was the exact opposite of why I import me my pictures and video on my computer. What is happening and is there a way I can retrieve media? Thank you.
iCloud photo library has a single purpose - to share a library among multiple users to keep all the identical libraries so nothing added, it is added, removed or modified in a deleted or changed in all - it is a solution for streaming to the synchronization of all libraries - it is not a backup or a place to store a part of a library
iCloud Photo library FAQ - Apple Support
deleted photos should be in the album recently deleted and if you select them here and right click and replace what they should go back to where they were
