Dell E7440 i5 4310U 16 GB of the RAM upgrade question

Hello

could someone help me, please. Recently I bought 16GB (2x8GB) modules of 1600 MHz RAM Corsair but when I insert into the machine, the laptop does not even start. The LED of the POST tells me that there is a problem with the memory.

Read the description of Dell, description of Corsair 16 GB are supported by this model. Tried the modules in another laptop and they work very well.

Any idea? Thank you

Purchased DDR3L or DDR3? Only DDR3L is supported by the Latitude E7440. https://www.Dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN153768/en

I have a laptop DV4-5100 and I received the new ram for it, but there is no way for me access to the ram compartment, apparently there is no screws or anything to open. So exactly how am I suppose to upgrade ram?

  • 13 - a071ng: problems with the RAM upgrade - where is the crack?

    Hey there,

so today I got my new x 360 a071ng HP. I wanted to upgrade my RAM from the standard 4GBs to 8GBs and replace the HDD with a SSD.

Replace the HARD drive has been frank and I have not encountered any problems. But there is a problem: I can't find the slot of the RAM.

The HP website is not saying something about a RAM memory that can be removed and nor does the Crucial site that actually says that there are two available slots.

-Is anyone can help me? Is it hidden somewhere? Perhaps under the motherboard or the battery? Or is the site condition information simply false and there is no way to upgrade the RAM?

    Best of the Austria,

    Here is the Manual:

See Page 49. Memory access requires the removal of the motherboard I hate to say but if you on the hard drive, you were close. Just pay attention that HP will not honor the warranty if you damage the laptop in the process. Good luck and post if you have any other questions.

  • EliteBook 9470 m stops after the Ram Upgrade

    Hey guys
I bought 2 Kingston 8 GB of Ram for my HP Elitebook Folio 9470 m (Windows 8 Pro) be upgraded to 8 GB to 16 GB. According to "Memory search" of the Kingstons the RAM I bought should work with my laptop:

    Module 8 GB - DDR3 1600 MHz

    Weight: KTH - X3C / 8G

Yes, it should work. I checked the site of Kingston and memory is specifically recommended for your model. I try every Kingston module separately with the HP module and run a comprehensive test of memtest on it.

    http://Memtest86.com/download.htm

Create a bootable usb stick with memtest cd and run it on each module. I suspect that you got a bad stick of RAM. At least if it doesn't not Kingston is very reputable, and they will refund your money.  This is proposed by Crucial memory:

  • The Task Manager does not recognize the ram upgrade

    Hello HP community!

Well, it seems that I have a problem with my ram upgrade. My system came with 2 GB of ram, and I had to upgrade (with another 2 GB), I am using programms like autoCAD, 3dsmax, photoshop, etc who have special needs on the RAM. Here's the problem; While the bios memory being recognized (4096 MB), what the task manager of the total physical memory is only 2046 MB! I also did the update to the BIOS, but it didn't work. The new memory I plugged in has the same features with one installed. The only difference is the manufacturer, the new is Kingston.

    Here are the characteristics of my system;

Operating system installed: Windows Vista 32-bit

Product name and number: HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030ev

    • Motherboard: Quanta 3624 intel PM45 (supports up to 8 GB of ram)
    • CPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P8600 2.40 GHz (64-bit Architecture)
    • RAM: 2 GB DDR2 PC2-6400 800 MHz 6.0 CASE Samsung latency

    (The package information to be exactly: KVR800D2S6 / 2GB PC2 - 6400 CL6 SODIMM 200 - Pin)

I also mention, I tried the only Kingston on a Slot and the system worked without any problems...

I would be so grateful if you could help...

    Thank you in advance,

    Nick Chatzikonstantinou

    Hi, Nick:

One of our experts at the top of the forum (DavidPK) page suggested that you look at this solution to the question of memory you meet...

    I quote David:

"In the system startup tab Configuration screen, the Advanced Options, it proved that there is a check mark in the maximum memory box.  Once removed and the applied change, Windows recognized all the Ram (less the reserved) after the reboot. »

If please give than to try and post back and let us know if that frees a memory system for you.

  • Dell PowerEdge T110 is not using all the Ram installed

Hi, my name is Juan Marrero.  I work for bike Stop, Inc. in Puerto Rico.

I've recently upgraded the processor and RAM to our PowerEdge T110 server.  Initially, there were only 4 GB of RAM.  Now he has installed 16GB but only 8 GB are usable.

The processor is an Intel Xeon x 3430 and has been upgraded to an Intel Xeon x 3470.  No problem here.

The specifications of the memories are: 4 GB DDR3 PC3 - 10600 ECC Unbuffered DIMM (4 of them)

for a total of 16 GB of RAM.  I searched the internet and found nothing in the BIOS to not limit to 8 GB.

Is there a limitation, no matter what the motherboard and processor say they can handle?

I thought. The Foundation is limited to 8 GB:

It comes preinstalled with a 4 GB of Ram. I want to upgrade to 8 GB.

I don't know where I should achieve this. I should get this done @ the store where I bought it?

  • The NAC upgrade question

I intend to improve our systems SCS and CAM version 4.6.1 to 4.7.2. The documentation states that "Cisco recommends that you do not perform this procedure to upgrade via an SSH connection, because the steps needed to restart the appliance during the upgrade process will cause your lost connection."

Is the only concern with the help of SSH that you will lose your connection and the need to reconnect (and possibly miss some messages in the console), or is there something in the upgrade, which can be a console connection?

My CASE systems are 65 miles away and forced to dig between locations will increase the window for a potential failure.

We met our CAM and ea 2. CASE until 4.7.2 with SSH only, no access console. Not always the best idea (in this case for some reason you NEED it), but it can be done completely via SSH for orders and SCP for file transfer.

  • Most bang for the buck upgrade question

Hi all.  I am currently using VMWare Workstation for Windows v6.x and have noticed that when I have three open tiles, my machine seems a little slow.  Current specifications are:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

    RAM: 8 GB

    OS: Vista Ultimate (64-bit)

    OS disk: Velociraptor 150 GB

VM disk: 1 GB Western Digital (all VMs are on this drive)

SMV (RAM): SCO UNIX (512 MB), Windows XP Pro (2 GB), Windows XP Pro (1 GB)

My question is the following, which would give me the best bang for my money:

    1. Upgrade to a Q9550.

    2. Allocate more RAM for the virtual machines (I currently use about 6GB with all the tiles running and what Vista takes on the host)

    3. Build a new machine with an i7 processor.

    4. Move virtual machines to a single Velociraptor.

    5. Move virtual machines to a RAID0 array (using two drives of 1 GB / 7200 RPM).  I know THAT RAID-0 has no redudancy; I would be back up critical files to an external drive of 1 GB.

On these machines, I do some scripting/small database unix (SCO VM) and especially the word processor (several documents) / some work with audio products/editing Adobe (WinXP VMs).

Thank you, in advance, for your input.

I would like to start with more and faster for the VM disks.

  • PS the victory to the Mac upgrade question

I'm moving from windows to mac.

my windows serial number does not work on my mac to PS cs6.  He did for LR4.  Why, what I can do.

    Thank you.

It's because your license of Photoshop CS6 is Windows only.  Lightroom has a cross-platform license, that's why you were able to install it on your Mac with success.

Please see product order | Platform, language Exchange - l http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.htm for more information on how to request a Mac from Photoshop CS6 version.

  • Hardware RAM in Question 8 or 16 gig? for the treatment of LR3

My old P4 XP with 2 gigabytes of RAM works yet, but any serious change in LR is slow... All the problems of performance aside, I thought I would ask a question that I know is a little subjective or maybe even stupid...

    I'm looking at a Dell XPS8199 i7 processor 64 but but the

My Question is ... Anyone think that is worth command with 16 GIG RAM compared to the standard default value of 8GIG of RAM for LR3 treatment/CS5M?  It will run to $360 ...   All comments are welcome...

The problem I had in the past is that the 8GIG is 4 2Gig DIMS and later to upgrade it will cost you much more I have to put in 4 4gig DIMS (I think... I'm not a tech guy at all)...

The only way my old P4 has lasted is because of the years memory upgrade but it costs me... so I think I should just go with a lot at the start...

Core i7 material uses DDR3 triple channel memory. Three DIMMs in channel A, B and C & will run significantly faster than the 4-6 DIMMs. The relative speed difference is kind of 25-26 with three 17-18 with 4-6 vs.

Your best compromise is DIMM for 12GB 3x4GB.  That's what I'm running in mine, which is a lot that LR currently does not use everything. I've seen the use of ~ 5.5 GB max in my bench of 6 hearts.

Also, there are more fast & slow DIMM, check their clock speed & record timing. In addition to clock speed (1333, 1600, 2000, etc. best) latency also factors in. 7-7-7-24 are better (and of course more than $), 9-9-9-24 is slow but usually cheaper. Of course also depends on the speed of the i7 processor and motherboard / BIOS capacity. Some systems may if run at higher at a time of increased latency clock speed lose all or part of the advantage of clock speed.

    I wish life were simpler...
