Dell I7559-5012 M.2 SSD

The reason why I am contacting you today is on the configuration of disk hard m2 on the laptop. I know that the ability of the computer to use a PCIe 3.0 m2 is there but is the Bios is configured only to recognize a SATA III m2. Do you know if it will there be updates to the BIOS that will allow a PCIe 3.0? I don't want to install a SATA III m2 if I can wait a little while and get the best and not waste money.

SATA vs PCIe is a Silicon level implementation - no update BIOS there will allow you to install a PCIe SSD on a board designed for SATA.

    Hello

    I recently bought a Dell Precision 5510 and I now intend to install a 500 GB SSD (M2), or a Samsung 500 GB 850 EVO m2 and a critical CT500MX200SSD4.

Does anyone know if one of these two SSD is compatible or have any problems with this laptop?

    Thank you

Thanks for posting your request here.

These two device should work without any problems after the upgrade.

  • Upgrade my dell 3000 dimension to an SSD.

Hello, I have an old dell dimension 3000 and I want to increase the overall speed and performance of the computer. I have already contributed to the maximum to the computer (2 GB) ram, but I don't want to stop there. I was wondering if I could pass the internal hard drive of the computer to an SSD. I won't use a lot of memory, so a large drive is not necessary, but my main problem is the speed. If I can go to a SSD then please inform me on other products that I have to buy and how to add them to my computer to get my computer working. I'm kind of a rookie in mechanics of the computer, but I'm up to the task. It is the SSD, I'm looking at:

The hard drive is a major bottleneck to speed. Upgrading to an SSD it eliminates and is thus the largest performance gain unique you'll get before upgrading your motherboard.

  • Cloning of a certified Dell Optiplex 3020 to an SSD

    Hello

As explained in my topic, is it possible to clone an existing HDD given by dell itself to an SSD. I heard that the BIOS is set to identify the HARD drive which is signed by Dell to maintain and deliver windows serial keys.

If Yes, what is the best way to clone the drive. If there is no possibility to do so, can I get the key from the BIOS itself in the case?

    Please advise me on this

    Hello

My apologies for the delay in responding. I managed to clone the drive using the software from Samsung and the PC was working fine without any problems. Even I managed to upgrade the system to Windows 10 as well.

I just used the Samsung software disk that came with the product and the options to do the cloning.

  • (Redirected) Cannot boot from the HARD drive on dell n5010 with SSD and HARD drive installed

I have my old dell n5010 (15R Inspiron) with SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120 G) installed on the main drive Bay and the HDD (Samsung HJJ 500 G) on the optical drive Bay.

It is a typical way to add an SSD on such an old laptop (bought from dell.com.cn in 2011).

My Windows 10 operating system has been installed on the SSD using Samsung Data Migration software, so the previous C drive was pointless. So I formatted and installed an operating system Ubuntu 14.04 on it, hoping the grub OSs double beginning located on the HARD disk.

However, I find no the Dell bios boot option to boot from the HARD drive installed in my optical drive Bay. All the choices are 'Hard Drive', 'Network' and 'Diagnostic '.

But I was definitely sure that my bios program has detected the SSD and HDD with information on the main menu of the bios.

And the LED on the optical drive Bay was immediately once I pressed the Start button on my laptop.

As a general rule, all things were right except for options of the bios boot.

Is there a way I can boot from HDD (with installed Ubuntu) while remaining has my SSD on the main drive Bay? I don't want to swap their positions, because the SSD is super fast on the main drive Bay.

I have alse won't migrate 10 Windows to the HARD drive and reinstall Ubuntu on the SSD, because I'd like my windows be loaded quickly.

Someone at - it the same problem with me?

    Any suggestion is appreciated!

On the product site, they say that the product is "guaranteed compatible with the Dell XPS One 2720" (http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=13987035A5CA7304).

Yes, you can do it. I highly recommend that you first create a set of recovery DVD disc or a flash drive.

  • New Alienware 13 R2 OLED at best buy

I bought and returned the new 13 R2 OLED Best Buy Alienware laptop. I bought it with anticipation to a fast SSD drive, because it comes with a slow 500 GB hard drive on a regular basis. I took apart and Alienware does not all ports for one SSD. It makes no sense, I wanted to put a SSD 950 PRO NVMe 512 GB SSD Samsung in the laptop. Save time and not buy one, I ended up ordering just the high-end off Alienware's website.

It looks like from the manual that if you get the version with a HARD drive, you get the HARD drive and the caddy that comes with it, however, if you get the SSD version, they have a daughter and caddy card that replaces the HARD drive in the same dwelling.  You could have called Dell and purchased the caddy SSD maybe.  The device is so small that they cannot be able to have both installed.

  • Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and 64 - bit

I soon to set up a new unit to Dell with a CPU i7, SSD & a good NVIDIA video card and my client has specifically requested that the operating system Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit be installed on it, due to the fact that it will run only older legacy there applications (except for the 2013 Office, but I will always install the 32-bit version of).  Also the fact that it will deal with only 4 GB of RAM (which isn't a big deal to him), are there any other compelling reason do not install instead of the 64-bit version?

I wonder if this will affect the overall performance of the operating system based on the way it interacts with the CPU or some such?  (I'm talking about 64-bit here).  Currently, there is little, or even 64-bit available than the average home user programs could (or should) use; There is no any video or even photo editing or any other high activity range, much the processor on the computer.

In addition, it would save having to install double versions of some of the other common applications, such as Java & IE 10, etc..

If & when he never goes 'up' for Windows 8, Windows (at this point) or 'Blue', then it might make sense, but it is not simply to use new programs and / or 'great mighty ones' who would benefit from a 64-bit Windows version, as far as I can tell.

I am open for any compelling reason to go 64-bit in the circumstances (other than the issue of the RAM, which is actually a non-issue) at the moment...

Apps must be 64-bit to run on a 64-bit application... 32-bit applications work fine in a 64-bit operating system.  As you say, Microsoft introduced the first 64-bit version of Office in Office 2010, but they always recommend running the 32-bit version on a 64 bit OS.

There are only a handful of reasons why a 32-bit application does not work on W7x64.  For example, the Remote Server 2003 management tools will not work on 64-bit.  There are more than 32-bit applications that do not run in Windows 7 because it's Windows 7 32-bit applications that do not run in 64-bit Windows because it is 64-bit.  After performing on means of Vista they will "probably" also works on Windows 7 as Vista has many of the same requirements and restrictions as Windows 7.

Here, I would look for the versions he will plan to run and specific applications:

    www.microsoft.com/.../Home

"Why have a 64-bit OS, if you're only (never) going to run 32-bit programs on it?"

The best reason?  Right now, he has only to 32-bit applications.  He's going to upgrade to 64-bit applications?  Probably no - one at the same time, probably needs.  Software companies do not feel that they need to write for the 64-bit platform in the near future, so 64-bit applications are not always available for a product, and/or not available when him and his other apps are ready for the jump to 64-bit, in order to have already installed allows just of 64-bit upgrade him that everyone is available and it is ready to be upgraded this app.  Keeping in mind that there is NO upgrade path on-site from 32 bit to 64 bit, a complete reinstallation will be required to move to 64 - bit - potentially a disruptive downtime, re-adusting amount settings and preferences, updates, reinstall programs, etc.  Also, say that it begins maxing out its RAM (max about 3.5 GB for 32 - bit)... an upgrade memory will require a reinstallation of the 64-bit above all more memory will be used.  With 64-bit, he can throw all memory system will support her with only a reboot to install the memory in the system.

My thought: if it will work on Windows 7 x 64, and it is a solution to medium and long term, there is no reason to not use it.

    1. Stay away from this twisted Dell mobile workstation configuration. There the mobile GPU current worst 2nd to work with the first...  The M1000M has only 512 CUDA cores and a bandwidth shabby of 80 GB/s and only 2 GB of video RAM from your choice of the GTX 970 M, which has 1280 CUDA cores, a band bandwidth memory of 120 GB / s and 6 GB of video RAM.
    2. The Dell has only 8 GB of RAM, where it's nowhere near enough RAM.  Several old laptop of mine is 24GO to manage the first smoothly this year.  Your Sager could actually be increased to 64GB!
    3. The Sager has an i7 - 6700K which is faster than the Xeon processor.  He turbos to 4.0 GHz versus the Xeon to 3.7 GHz
    4. It seems that Dell has only a single SSD which does not satisfy the minimum requirements Adobe Premiere Pro, where your Sager can apparently have two m2 plus two SSD drives SATA III.  If you can get that with the second SSD M.2 Sager and get the Samsung 950 Pro 512 GB drive will absolutely come equipped you for some serious real change on this toy from Dell.

    RAM is not for storage.

You'll want to buy a larger SSD.

But with an SSD of larger and is delivered with all questions of current hard drive cloning etc..

  • Updates for the SSD of 32 GB LITEON m2 on a special edition of Dell XPS-8900.

Has anyone successfully upgraded Cache SSD m2 on their system XPS-8900?

I have a Dell XPS-8900 that I bought a few months ago, and you want to update the cache of hard drive SSD m2.  The system has 2 to 7200 RPM hard drive + Cache SSD of 32 GB m2, 16 GB of memory (which I'm upgrading to 32 GB) and the processor i7 - 6700 k.

I tried to replace it with either the Samsung 850 EVO m2 250 GB SSD or the Samsung 950 PRO NVMe 256 GB SSD.  I read in another post on the forum that the limit for XPS-8900 in the m2 slot was 256 GB.  Anyone know if this is correct?

If anyone has any ideas on how I can change my system to tighten a bit more performance out of my system, I'd greatly appreciate your ideas.  It seems a little slow at startup and loading applications than I expected.

It is not necessary to install a larger disk for use as a cache - it won't do much (if any) for performance.  There is a valid argument by replacing the disk cache with an SSD of larger m2 and then by installing the operating system on this drive (that is, running in native mode of SSD).  That WILL stimulate the acceptable performance.

I doubt that there is a limit on the capacity of the drive - but there is no doubt about the physical size of the map itself.  Note that this system is NOT wired with an interface of PCIe 4 ways - then install a player is not worth the extra cost, because it will be limited by the design of the motherboard.
