• Dell Inspiron does not fully start

  I have a Dell Inspiron 530 s with Windows Vista Home Basic. Last fall I had restored it and after that, it worked perfectly until about 2 months ago. After that I turned on the computer, it goes to the Dell logo, as usual, and then after that, it gives me a message saying press F1 to continue. I would tap it, then he would show a black screen with a flashing underscore. After a while it would not boot as usual. Recently, when underscore no longer blinks, he asked no longer to start as usual. It gives me a message saying that no boot device is discoverable and press ENTER to try again. • Dell Dimension does not start in Vista after upgrade

  A friend had a Dell Dimension E521 that won't start - has the missing file system\hal.dll.

  If you have installed Windows Vista good the first time that the hard drive should be fine however I would suggest running the Dell diagnostics just to be safe. To do this follow the instructions on page 405 of this document and perform extensive tests.

  What video card you have? Have you tried to remove the video card and running using the onboard video? Have you installed Service Pack 1 before the system drivers?

• Help! Aspire 5735 laptop with broken screen does not recognize external monitor after the factory restore

  Hi all, I have an Oracle database running in HP - UX 11.31. The database version is 10.2.0.5.0 and it is patched with PSUOct2011_12827745. This database has been actually upgraded to version 10.2.0.4 (no group of hotfixes) on 13 - Dec last year.
  
  There is a procedure in the database that reads the contents of a directory, and if there are files in this directory, the contents of the file will be read and inserted in the database. After that, the procedure will move the file to another location for archiving purpose. I will summarize below on the procedure:
  Source directory: /home/.../DB_Upload
  Source Dir name: SRC_DIR
  Destination directory: /home/.../DB_Upload/Archive
  Name of destination Dir: DEST_DIR
  
  Before upgrading the database, the procedure works very well. Since I upgraded to 10.2.0.5 + PSUOCt2011, the procedure still works as expected, but the file in the destination folder becomes 0 bytes, although initially the file from the source directory is nonzero bytes. The procedure contains the following lines which makes the move from the source to the destination file:
  UTL_FILE.fcopy ('SRC_DIR', 'file', 'DEST_DIR', 'file');
  UTL_FILE.fremove ('SRC_DIR', 'file');
  I tried running only the function fcopy by running the query below and I get the same result:
  exec utl_file.fcopy ('SRC_DIR', 'file', 'DEST_DIR', 'file');
  The weird part is that the procedure completed successfully, and no error message only appears. Even alert logs don't show any errors in this procedure.
  
  After searching for a solution, I found another method called utl_file.frename (...), which can also be used to move the file, so I decided to try it. Here's what I came up with to test:
  exec utl_file.frename ('SRC_DIR', 'file', 'DEST_DIR', 'file');
  Surprisingly, the file is moved to the destination successfully, and the size remains the same from the source (size of 0 bytes is more). Therefore, I changed the procedure to use only the frename() function, and the procedure now works successfully, with files of size zero is not in the destination.
  
  Is this a bug in the new version of Oracle? This never happens in 10.2.0.4 before the upgrade, and I am very surprised that after the upgrade, this problem appears. Oracle experts, please explain this. Thank you.

  But, I think, you already found a better workaround for the cases of displacement... so you can use your workaround or apply the Patch 12345982

  There are a few fields on the report, which must present the amount in U.S. dollars. If the XML sent out with the decimals for example 123.45 then it is print correctly on the excel column. But if the XML code sends the output 123 then instead of 123.00 on what it is like 123 exit excel.

• SOLVED! My new Dell Inspiron does not recognize my HP Officejet Pro L7680

  Tried USB in a different port and it worked!  All AOKAY.

  I have tried everything I can, including downloading drivers and using the print and scan doctor, but without success.  The printer remains invisible to the computer despite a 'bong' telltale whenever the USB cable is connected between the two.

  Who has the magic secret?

  The usb port that didn't work, maybe a bad port or incompatible.
  1. who has a USB 3.0 or USB 2.0? USB 3.0 port has a usb with "SS" downstairs, logo for 'Super Speed', even if a usb 3.0 ports should take usb 2.0 devices, sometimes things don't work smoothly.
  2. usb port may be damaged (broken contact could cause the kind of question you see). There are a few contacts on the usb port, some power and some data. When a usb device is plugged in, you get the "bong", this means power is taken between the port and a PnP (Plug and Play) event is generated. The device checks with its info (PnP ID, etc.) if all of the son/contacts work, the computer gets this info and use it to identify the device and search for the best driver for it. One way to tell if the computer has obtained information is to look at Device Manager, if the computer has had the info, there will be a new added feature, those that he can find a pilot, will appear with the name and details, or if no driver is found, 'unknown device', but if you click on details, even if it is peripheral unknown It lists the ID of equipment, etc.). A "bong" without even an 'unknown device' means that the usb port is bad.

  So, I have a very nice work slate 7 now - customer happy.  Do not fight with it too long, get a working one...
