  How com windows media won't play a dvd, even with a decoder, I added this morning?

  I'm having the same problem. My computer has Windows XP Professional Office. Media Player 11 is on it. But when I try to play a DVD, it says "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because no compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer" is not Media Player got it own decoder?   Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 700 m, Windows XP and I wanted to play games on my laptop, but when I try to run a game, it opens, then the window closes automatically. I if it may be that I installed the wrong game, but I checked and everything seems fine. I searched online and found that only a few games is compatible with my laptop. Also, I tried to update my graphics card but I have not seen a video driver update for Dell Inspiron 700 m Windows XP. It does not take in charge the 3d games which I hope there is a solution for, and the game I am playing Battlefield 1942. I tried League of legends and this game seems to work, but another game like GTA or BF1942 don't work. Here's my laptop hardware specifications.

I tried to guess and enter the passwords with the word DELL in several newspapers and none of them worked.   Dell Inspiron 15R is supplied with technology switchable graphics in which you cannot disable the integrated video card and use only the discreet graphics card. The two video cards work in tandem.

  Please follow the steps mentioned below to select the PRO 2013 application and assign the discrete graphics processing unit.

  1. Click on the Start button and select programs
  2. Click Catalyst Control Center
  3. Power , click on select switchable graphics
  4. Choose an application from the list or browse and select an application and set the discrete GPU.

• New HDD in my Dell INSPIRON N5010 laptop, will I go to 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM HARD drive

  I bought the DELL N5010 laptop about 4 years back, and currently it is more under warranty.
  2 days back my hard drive crashed and could not start or install the OS as there are bad sectors on the hard drive has. I plan to buy a new hard drive.

  Which one should I go for a 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM. I would go to 7200 RPM, as it is faster, but I read on the internet that the 7200 RPM generates more heat then 5400 RPM and my laptop is already facing heating problem. I had replaced the fan about 2 months as my laptop used to close because of the heat. The problem of heating has not changed, but laptop does not stop :)

  Anyone using the DELL N5010 laptop with a 7200 RPM HARD drive and he's fine?

  Any kind of recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

  Thanks for the recommendation. The sales in the shop man also recommended the same thing. I bought Seagate 5200 SSHD(Solid State Hybrid Drives) which is still better than the conventional hard drive. :)

  I tried many DVDs in my Windows 7, 64-bit Home Premium system, and none of them will play in the Media Center, with the exception of a 1955 film that plays without problem. I guess it was a good year. In the lower right corner of the Media Center, a window says: "Play DVD - Windows Media Center cannot detect a video DVD in the DVD - Rom drive. Insert a video DVD in the drive." Apparently, the DVD is not detected. What is a missing codec problem? I read about downloading the Codec of the user, only to cause more problems, and I did a lot of searching for an answer to this and found a countless number of users having problems with DVD in Media Center and no collective solution. How can it be this difficult? What is the problem with Windows 7? Why can I play a DVD of a film of 1955 (Mr. Roberts) and not of today's movies? The only solution that I come up with to this day, even after checking with the maufacturer of my optical drive, should consider buying the codec itself, if that is what is lacking, or a DVD player to possibly of Roxio. But after the piece of hugh of money I paid for my software Windows 7, I would not have bought anything others of another company. I wouldn't think to go back to XP, but I've had far fewer problems. Any help would be appreciated. Don

I just got the phone is turned off after a few hours of troubleshooting with Dell hardware and software services. Dell is sending a technician to replace my optical drive. They hope that clears the problem, but if not, they say that I might have to reinstall Windows 7. This is happening due to your pointing me in the right direction with your post, and troubleshooting I could do before, I called Dell. I had different problems for a while, and maybe they'll finally get fixed.   Probably their player do not like the brand of the disc that you used. Try using Verbatim data Life Plus with the AZO dye.

  Hey, guys, I had the touchscreen partially responsible (upper right part) + 100% of the CPU. What I ended up doing, it was a clean install of Windows 10 and do NOT install Dell Quickset. I repeat, DO NOT install of Quickset. Hardware works fine without it and I stopped to get 100% of the CPU after idle and touch screen works normally. The only downside is that I get an unrecognized component (ACPI\SMO8810\1), which I think has to do with the keyboard locking in tablet mode. This isn't the complete solution of 100%, but I feel that the Dell power plan is not coded correctly. For any question, you guys might have, let me know!
