I have a Dell Precision 690 and I am trying to connect the hard drives in the right order. The documentation says they must go into the HARD drive marked locations on the motherboard, but they do not work. The only slots that work are the SATA slots. I tested five SATA drives but I can only get three to work on three SATA slots instead of four locations of HARD drive and slot extra SATA as the book said to do.

I tried which helps the controller under the BIOS: has no significance if it is enabled or disabled. I determined that AHCI is unable to be activated, it must be ATA.

In the end, I need to have five total drives. Four in the slots in the HARD drive and the other in the SATA slot. (Which will be for operating system 1 SATA and SAS RAID 4). I realize that the HDD_0, 1, 2, 3 locations are to use SAS/SATA but I can't take too much work.

In addition, I don't ' know if this is important or not, but he has Windows XP Professional x 64. BIOS A05 and I know an update is A08, I did do that yet though.

Anywhere I can find that material assistance would be much appreciated.

Yes, there are three ports labeled SATA (0,1,2) and four ports labeled as HARD drive (0,1,2,3). The manual says to connect hard drives in HARD drive ports, then in the SATA ports. The first two SATA ports are for additional optical drives and the last port is used for a fifth hard drive.

I got in touch with several people in technical assistance from Dell and eventually find the right driver to install.

Because I don't have the OEM disc that came with the computer, I was doing a new installation of a Windows disc. I needed F6 (third party drivers) to activate the HARD disk ports until the installation has taken place. (And honestly I don't remember what the file was immediately.)

The AHCI could not be activated because the discs I have are Serial ATA disks and in the BIOS, there is a choice between ATA and AHCI.

The problem is solved and I feel like I could do a test on this computer and become a technician for her.

  • Why my Dell Vostro have a Toshiba hard drive?

April 25, 2015, I contacted Dell warranty on my hard-drive on my Vostro 3750. They ran diagnostics, concluded it was defective (Test read HardDrive-Targeted; CFI:N; KYHD:N; DD:N; Dr:N). on 27 April, they sent a replacement under the service request number 910355792. So when it happened, I've swapped disks and returned the defective one. Now fast forward to December when I was able to install Windows 10 Pro. Site Web de Microsoft had only a few requirements to run, mainly RAM, graphics processing and an OS to date start with. I didn't know that Dell had a list of computers that were not to be tested with W10. The installation went along fine and let him update the necessary drivers, have pre-installed just enough so he can start and connect to the internet to update. I was unaware that one of the device drivers to settle and my computer seems to work very well. Then about two weeks ago, he started to slow down. I noticed it would begin to freeze a little bit, but he would always thaw quickly. Then a week ago, I wrote a document of night (College Sophomore so this computer is pretty much my life) and closed the lid for the night. Now, the battery life is already pretty bad, so needless to say it's dead during the night, but when I went to turn it back on it took forever, it lights up. Easily 10-15 minutes just to get to the login screen. I unlocked it and it brought back to my office to plug it back in on my desk, where it remains almost religiously. I then got on Dell Support, which is where I finally found the 3750 has not been tested with W10 and ran a quick diagnosis that says the hard disk, which has been listed as a TOSHIBA is in critical condition and must be replaced immediately. At this point, I had to see what was going on, so I opened the Device Manager went to disks and here, he said that my hard drive is a TOSHIBA MQ01ACF050. Well, that's weird. So I checked my event viewer to make sure and it was indeed migrated, configured and started when I allowed and installed W10 in December. There was also an unknown device in the event log which is how I discovered the missing driver. Then to top it all, the administrative events log had 16 000 events from the moment I installed W10 until today, almost everything else just tell Harddisk0 DR0 has a bad block. duh. So I'm saving all our important documents to an external hard drive and I guess I will be W8 but what I really want to know is why guaranteed Dell send me a Toshiba hard drive. Any advice on any of these issues would be sincerely appreciated.

There are only three manufacturers left portable players - WD, Seagate and Toshiba.  Almost all system vendors use each of them.

  • Replacement for Dell Latitude E6230 HDD (hard drive)

    Hello.

I need to replace my old HDD in Latitude E6230.

I found in the store a 500 GB HARD drive model, but I need to be sure if it is compatible with my E6230.

Seagate Momentus 5400.6 fact (ST9500325AS, PN: 9HH134-500) compatible with Dell Latitude E6230?

    Thanks in advance.

Finally, I could say that 9mm HDDs are not compatible with Dell Latitude E6230.

I have consulted with Dell service center and they have confirmed that only discs hard 7mm will work with E6230.

After that, I tried again to install 9mm in my E6230, but failed.

So, be very careful when you get answers here not from official representatives of the Dell!

  • (Redirected) Cannot boot from the HARD drive on dell n5010 with SSD and HARD drive installed

I have my old dell n5010 (15R Inspiron) with SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120 G) installed on the main drive Bay and the HDD (Samsung HJJ 500 G) on the optical drive Bay.

It is a typical way to add an SSD on such an old laptop (bought from dell.com.cn in 2011).

My Windows 10 operating system has been installed on the SSD using Samsung Data Migration software, so the previous C drive was pointless. So I formatted and installed an operating system Ubuntu 14.04 on it, hoping the grub OSs double beginning located on the HARD disk.

However, I find no the Dell bios boot option to boot from the HARD drive installed in my optical drive Bay. All the choices are 'Hard Drive', 'Network' and 'Diagnostic '.

But I was definitely sure that my bios program has detected the SSD and HDD with information on the main menu of the bios.

And the LED on the optical drive Bay was immediately once I pressed the Start button on my laptop.

As a general rule, all things were right except for options of the bios boot.

Is there a way I can boot from HDD (with installed Ubuntu) while remaining has my SSD on the main drive Bay? I don't want to swap their positions, because the SSD is super fast on the main drive Bay.

I have alse won't migrate 10 Windows to the HARD drive and reinstall Ubuntu on the SSD, because I'd like my windows be loaded quickly.

Someone at - it the same problem with me?

    Any suggestion is appreciated!

  • System recovery satellite M50 after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

The drive of my laptop Satellite M50 becomes rather clicky and looks like it's on its way. Replacing, it will not present any problems, but I will replace it with a drive of at least double the capacity of origin.

At one point, I had installed a Linux system and when I tried to reinstall my Windows system on a partition that is smaller than the entire recovery cd disk threw a wobbly and refused to proceed as it did not recognize the hardware profile of my portable computer, that the drive was too small.

I expect the same thing to be true once I upgraded the HARD drive.

How can I avoid this problem?

    Thanks in advance

    PK

I would like to clone the old drive if it is an option.

  • Equium M50-216 - new HARD drive is not recognized

After finding that my [laptop | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&DISC_MODEL=0 & ACTION = PRINT_WITH_BACK & com decided .do w .broadvision = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 113323] has a hard to die in the car, I went and bought a replacement for her. Originally, the laptop had a 40 GB IDE drive, and I thought that if I had to replace the drive, then I might as well have a higher capacity drive. So I bought a [hard drive 160 GB Samsung IDE | http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/productmodel.do?type=62&subtype=67&model_cd=294#] eBay.

Upon receipt and installation of the drive unit, I found that when I tried to open the BIOS, it would take some time to open (such as the boot device selection menu), and once it does, under the hard drive unit, it says 'none '. I tried to remove and to reinstall the drive, I have ensured that there are no jumpers on the drive and I also tried to install Ubuntu on it anyway, but the partitioning program shows nothing. If I insert the old drive, everything works fine

As far as I know, the problem could arise because of two reasons; because I had swizzed on eBay, either because the BIOS of the laptop or the motherboard supports up to a certain capacity. I hope that it is not one of those who, as I bought this disc waited for some time for her due to slow mail and snow.

Also, I don't know how to test a disc without having to buy some kind of adapter IDE for my main PC. Is there a way that this can be sorted?

Edit: Considering an update of the BIOS, but struggles to find a way to do without the need to have a version of Windows there.

    Hello

A long history but a short answer:
Due to the IDE for your laptop, you are only able to use hard disks up to 128 GB s or let say 120 GB. The laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits and thus, you can use t hard drives up to a certain capacity (128 GB).

By the way: peut t BIOS update to fix this. It s a limitation material so BIOS update will not work.

You return the HARD drive and buy another one, e. g. 120 GB.

  • Re: Satellite L650 / 07C - HDD (Hard Drive Impact Sensor) shock protection system

I just bought a Satellite L650 / 07C. When I bought it from the dealer, I was under the impression that this model came with the function disk hard drive shock protection system (hard drive Impact sensor).
I ran the Toshiba PC Health Monitor application, but it seems not to have this function - it gives me the power settings, Temp and fan are monitored, as well as a status of hard disk drive, but nothing on the disk hard drive shock anti-siphoning (hard drive Impact sensor).

Under my file utilities Toshiba HDD SSD Alert application that shows the same icon as the one I saw in the reseller on their Toshiba Satellite when they did there evidence the shock protection system. I ran this application, but it gives me just a status message that the drive works properly.

Could someone please confirm with certainty whether the model I have this feature.

    Thank you very much.

Everything goes well with your laptop. I made a screenshot and uploaded to show you:

I would like to know what kind of hard drives could be integrated into empty compartments. I would like to use non - Hot Swap as well to extend storage. Buy standard 3 "5 7200 RPM Sata Hard Drivies? Will it work?

Thanks in advance. Appreciate your attention.

    Concerning

    Afreire,

You can use enterprise class SATA disks up to 4 TB in the remaining locations. You will need to the carriers for the readers, even if they are non-RAID.   H310 controller supports the use of JBOD (just a bunch of disks) without having them in a RAID.   OpenManage them will see as non-RAID drives.

  • Dell XPS 8700 - secondary SATA Hard Drives don't appear not

I tried to install two additional hard drives on my new XPS 8700. The machine came with the primary drive connected to the SATA 0 and the DVD drive connected to the SATA 1. When I installed two additional hard drives, I put in the SATA 2 & 3 ports. Hard drives appeared in Windows (8.1), nor in the BIOS. I played a bit with ports SATA 2 & 4 and 3 & 4. Hard drives are not recognized. When I looked in disk management, they weren't there. As a last resort, I unplugged the DVD player SATA cable and plugged the cable on one of the secondary hard drives (which was then attached to the SATA 1 port) to connect the DVD player to the SATA 2 this drive cable port. When I started my computer, all drives have become visible. I don't know why. SATA cables I used comes from a 5 year old computer (like hard drives). Was it a problem with the cables, or is it a problem of SATA port? The first disc hard school should go in port SATA 1?

I searched the forum and couldn't find a similar problem (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19520798.aspx). Eventually, the person back to his computer.

    alexsyseng,

for the most part, you are right. I had this same problem as well, but I already had the a06 bios. the problem is with the uefi bios feature. its ment to be safer, but causes problems when adding disks. I tried your suggestion to change the secure boot options, but it does not work for me. I found the solution by chance when I went from uefi boot inherited so that I could use my cd discpart of secure erase my ssd.

so here's the solution, whenever you add a drive, you will pass the bios in legacy mode, then return to the uefi mode. If your computer came with windows 8 then more than likely your bios is set to uefi. When you switch the bios the legacy of your desire to computer error and you say that he has not found any what boot drives. No worries, switch to that return to uefi, reboot and now your system will start properly and all your disks will be visible in the windows and disk management. no need to replace your motherboard. Unfortunately, I spent two hours with tech support and they didn't know that either.

  • Computer does not recognize Toshiba external 500G HDD - HARD drive

Sorry, I use a translator, because all the illiterate

A year and a half used the hard drive, and now the computer does not recognize it, the TV too.
In Device Manager, it is there, but says "initialization error".

    What should do?
    Thanks for the replies

You have partitions software installed on the laptop you?
I guess that the HARD disk does not appear in windows Explorer, but common partition as the partition Wizard tool might be able to recognize the HARD drive.
You can try to format the HARD disk and to create the new NTFS partition.

    Another solution:
Usually, you can initialize the disk by DiskManagement.

In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize and then click on initialize disk.
In the dialog box initialize the disk, select the disk to initialize.
You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).

Once a disk is initialized, you can create partitions on it.
After you create a partition, you can format the partition to create a filesystem (NTFS).
