Re: Satellite L650 / 07C - HDD (Hard Drive Impact Sensor) shock protection system

I just bought a Satellite L650 / 07C. When I bought it from the dealer, I was under the impression that this model came with the function disk hard drive shock protection system (hard drive Impact sensor).
I ran the Toshiba PC Health Monitor application, but it seems not to have this function - it gives me the power settings, Temp and fan are monitored, as well as a status of hard disk drive, but nothing on the disk hard drive shock anti-siphoning (hard drive Impact sensor).

Under my file utilities Toshiba HDD SSD Alert application that shows the same icon as the one I saw in the reseller on their Toshiba Satellite when they did there evidence the shock protection system. I ran this application, but it gives me just a status message that the drive works properly.

Could someone please confirm with certainty whether the model I have this feature.

Thank you very much.

Everything goes well with your laptop. I made a screenshot and uploaded to show you:

When you shake your portable hard drive ssd aler appears, however, you can disable it appearing.

    I have a [Toshiba Satellite L650-14F | http://se.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/ro/product/Satellite-L650-14E/1086065/] laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit.

Whenever I have copy a very large file, say a DVD .iso image, one partition to another or when I move a lot of files, I can barely do anything else on the computer. If I try to launch something, the window appears only once the task is complete copy and overall, the system will severely slow down.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable for a laptop with these specs. It should be fast blazzing and you should have no problem with multitasking. A SATA II HARD drive should behave like that to a single file copy operation.

Does anyone have any ideas, it could be the cause? Anyone else encounter this kind of behavior? Any suggestions? Should all tests I check before send it off to the store?

  • Satellite A210-ICO - what HARD drive I can use?

I'm getting bad sectors on the hard drive of my laptop, so I guess I should pay for a new one – but who are able to A210-1CO?

    TA, M

    Hello

Satellite A210 uses SATA hard drives and you need a new HARD drive with SATA interface. You can buy each HARD drive you want, for example 160 or 320 GB. On interface SATA there is no capacity limit.

In addition, most SATA HDDs have already SATA2 interface but its compatible downgrade to SATA1.
I would have preferred a HARD disk at 5400 RPM. Of course, you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 RPM, but they produced more heat and noise. For most of the applications are pretty 5400 RPM.

I have good experiences with Hitachi and Seagate hard drives.

  • Satellite A60 - question of HARD drive replacement

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The HARD drive died recently and I'm looking to replace it. I want to know what disk drive specification, the Toshiba Satellite A60 can support. It originally had a MK3025GAS
    HDD2196B ZE01 S 30 GB 2.5 "drive.

    1. I would like to replace it with a larger capacity drive. What is the capacity (GB) and speed the A60 can bear?

    2. do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other 2.5 "drive (Seagate, Fujitsu, etc...)?

    Hello

As far as I know the old Satellite A60 supports one IDE controller.
This means that you must use a 2.5 IDE (ATA) HARD drive.
As far as I know the older IDE controller are limited to 128 GB with 28-bit LBA (address logic bit).
Then maybe you should start with a 120 GB HDD, which must be compatible, even if the controller would be limited to 128 GB.

But standard ATA-6 (also called TONGA-100) does support 48 bit LBA in this case, it is not limited to 128 GB. You can check controller HARD drive using tools such as SANDRA or Everest Home Edition freeware soft for the information on the controller built in the A60.

    > 2. Do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other disk 2.5 "
You can use any HARD drive that meets the requirements (IDE, 2.5)

    Hello

I m not a Satellite M70 owner but as far as I know this laptop comes with SATA drives. But you can check yourself if you remove the HARD drive and then you can see which interface it is.
If you have a SATA interface, you can buy each HARD drive you want. On interface SATA there is no capacity limit.

Normally you can install Windows 7 but it s not released yet. Theoretically, it should work but I'll wait until it's official market.

With a new HARD disk, you use the Toshiba recovery disc too. Why not? It s not dependent on the HARD drive you have so just boot make up and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. :)

When I start the laptop first, he went to the recovery of factory default software?
There is nothing on it is mentioned in the manual.
Is this normal? is that mean that my laptop is not a new or was defective?

Does anyone have the same experience here?

Everything goes well with your knees. Just my recommendation is to create a recovery disc, do not postpone this procedure. Use of high quality like Word to Word and tdk media to burn recovery discs.

  • Re: Satellite L650/07C-boot-loop after memory upgrade

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L650 / 07C - PSK1JA-07C017.
To get a little more life out of it, I've updated yesterday with a SSD and 8 GB memory.

The SSDS works perfectly and I have installed OS and all the drivers and software.
However, the memory causes a boot loops. I returned to the standard 2 x 2 GB memory at the moment.

With the new memory installed, the computer startup-loops. When you try to start Windows, the computer will appear at the stage of loading Windows (the boot animation) and then restarts.
I tried to start with the recovery discs, and it arrives at the stage of loading of Windows Setup, and then restarts.
She will continue trying to start, then by restarting (then repeat), until I turn it off.

    The memory I installed is Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 (2 x 4 GB):
    http://www.Corsair.com/cmso8gx3m2a1333c9.html

For me, it looks like the same specifications that the modules of memory Kingston 4 GB listed on the Toshiba site as being compatible with my laptop:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/products/Accessories/memory/KTT-S3B/4G/accessories

I found the specs of memory recommended here:
    http://www.LASystems.be/PDF/Kingston/246787/KTT-S3B4G.PDF

If I go into the BIOS, I see that the memory is detected as 8192KB. The Toshiba site says that this laptop is expandable to 8 GB.

    Is there something I'm missing?
Is there another step I need to perform when upgrading their memory?
I don't know why it won't boot with the new memory modules in that I put.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I assume you have the Australian model is not easy to find info on the hardware upgrade. What I can say is that model European uses DDR3 1066 MHz memory modules and 4 GB of RAM compatible a part PA3677U-1M4G number.

It must be exact model described by microcens.
I recommend you use the tested and compatible memory modules.

  • Satellite A200 UH1 - 2nd hard drive Bay

    Hi all!

Could someone explain me how to connect a second HDD in secondary housing of this laptop?

I opened the cover, but there is no plug or the connector to install a.

What I see, seems I have to buy a few extra parts, but I have no idea what.
The manual is saying that he has this Bay (so it is usable as Toshiba worth to write his presence in the manual).

    Can someone help me?

I really wish for reason practical for a keg external HDD will reduce the autonomy of the laptop when it is on battery.

    Thank you!!!

If you want to connect a second disk of this machine slot that there must be a connector and if you don t have a t, you can put in a second HDD.
Not every Satellite A200 has such connector.
On the second HARD drive Bay, I founded the following information in the user manual:
    > HDD2: the availability of this functionality depends on the model you have purchased

But you can use a second HDD in the slot of the CD/DVD drive. For this you can use a Bay for a second HDD.
Ask an ASP for this part. They can order.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - what HARD drive can you recommend?

I have Satellite Pro M70 and I have a 60GB HDD that I see what it s SATA 8 MB of buffer memory. The processor it s 1.73 GHz. I see that there is the Samsung typical 160 GB and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB at the same price, which is better?

And for only $ 11 more there's a Scorpio blue Western digital 320 with even 8 MB buffer than other 2. But I don t think so 320, that's a lot for Satellite Pro M70, and I have an external drive 2.5 "250 GB, data with this is not problem.

What the best solution for this laptop? I don t want to burn now the phone LOL.

    Hello

If your laptop is already equipped with SATA interface, you can use each HDD with SATA1 or SATA2 port on the new SATA interface there is no limit on the old standard IDE

It s your choice what HARD drive you buy because I put t know your needs, but in my opinion it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive. All hard drives are similar and there is no significant difference (performance).
I made good experiences with Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives.

By the way: you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 rpm or 5400.rpm. Latter is faster but requires more power. In my opinion, this is useful if you often work with large files.

  • Satellite A60 - 102 - what HARD drive is possible

What capacity of hard drive used in this laptop

    Hello

Satellite A60 is a little older series and I think that the laptop supports the IDE HDD controller
Perhaps the HARD disk controller support for only 28 bit LBA, which means that only 128 GB would be recognized by the BIOS.

I think a 120 GB HDD should work but I'm not sure if the biggest hard drives would be supported due to mentioned m 28-bit LBA

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite C850 unbootable - broken HARD drive

    Hello people,

    I bought a * Toshiba Satellite C850 - 1F2 * with * + Windows 8 + *.
After installation, the upgrade to * + Windows 8.1 + * and setting up everything, the whole machine worked well enough.

BUT since yesterday, the laptop no longer starts!
When I turn it on, the HARD drive is click and click and the system tries to boot from DVD, USB, HARD drive, IPv4, IPV6, and then he said, that there is no boot device.

Unfortunately, I tried to do the + restore Windows 8 - backup - DVD + this weekend!
    Huh!

Well, I have one more * + Windows-7-DVD original and license + *, which would be good as well (I used it in recent years).
    * YET *, I can't install * + Windows 7 + *.
He says something like that, that this system is not available for Secure Boot +.

    I read about 'Secure Boot'.
So I pressed F2, turned on the laptop and managed with this BIOS.
    It's a * + InsydeH20 Rev 3.7 + *.
    * BUT *, when I go to "Boot Mode" I don't see myself, this option is grayed out and I cannot change the UEFI Boot + to ++ CSM Boot +.

Even changing the HARD drive made no difference.
I put in my old HDD with Windows 7 installed (which works in the other laptop), but the system does not start, because it is + not suitable for Secure Boot +.

    * Then, of WHAT NOW? *
I mean, we can't really politics of Toshiba, you need to take your laptop, if the HARD drive breaks, it can?
Because I create the rescue-DVD, I just my DVD of Windows 7 and an another HARD drive and installed Windows 7.

I have to buy another license of Windows 8 and an another disk to reinstall Windows 8 (suitable for Secure Boot)?
Would it even work like that?
Or is it possible to upgrade the BIOS for it, I can then change boot UEFI to CSM Boot?
Or is there another chance, to use my other HDD with Windows 7, or at least a new HARD clean disk, on which I can then install my Windows 7 operating system?

I hope someone can give me good advice, what to do now... without throwing the Toshiba laptop ;)

    Thanks in advance!

    > I hope that someone can give me good advice, what to do now... without throwing the Toshiba laptop
Let's start with this sentence. You must not throw your laptop. There's always a last stage that can be done and in your case, you can contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
This model of laptop is fairly new, so I can imagine that the warranty is still valid, so I think you should contact the service and ask if you can get a new HARD drive for free. I mean why not if the warranty is still valid.
