Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower - for SSD Samsung 850 Evo BIOS settings

Hi - I am looking to replace the HARD drive in my Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower with a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.  I am running the BIOS 1.0.16 and do not see the option AHCI, RAID or IDE only.  Should what BIOS settings I use to optimize the performance of an SSD benefits?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I could get my SSD working under RAID (10 Windows) with the following steps (which some may not be necessary).

  1. MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable 9 CD to clone a copy of the existing for the Samsung SSD HDD (Samsung data migration tool did not acknowledge the Samsung SSD on Windows 10, even though Device Manager it identified as such).  It took nearly 36 hours to clone froma 160 GB 250 GB HDD to the SSD.
  2. Replace HDD with SSD and it started / worked as an IDE drive.  TRIM has been activated and works.
  3. Apply the hotfix to the register noted in the first post of this thread (it may or may not be necessary):
    1. http://forums.HEXUS.NET/motherboards/112584-how-enable-AHCI-RAID-mode-without-reinstalling-Windows-P35-ICH9-ICH9R.html
  4. Downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.5.0.1017 A00 (which is appropriate for the Vostro 200 Slim Tower) from the Dell Web site and run the extracted exe file on the disk.
  5. Opens the folder where the drivers have been extracted and made a right click > install iaahci.inf and iastor.inf files.
  6. Restarted the PC, went into the BIOS and changed the IDE in RAID mode.
  7. When the system is booted, I received the message "Inaccessible Boot Device", so I let the system automatically restarts, go through the automatic recovery/repair options, then follow the guests to launch the advanced Windows options recovery to start in safe mode.
  8. Once in safe mode, I opened the Device Manager, which now showed the following new features:
    1. Disc players

      1. SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 500G
    2. Storage controllers
      1. Intel(r) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller
      2. Microsoft storage controller
  9. The system is then able to start and be used normally.
  10. There are still problems with the Samsung Wizard software, but it seems that it is a matter of Samsung.

Hope this is useful to someone.

Pavilion DV6215us is SSD Samsung 850 EVO compatible? I cloned the original Hitachi hard drive and everything was going well. I have installed the Samsung and porwered upwards. The answer is only pushed Esc to get to settings that meets never or boots.  Given that the new drive to adapt very well and everything seemed fine before installing it is there any reason this SSD shouldn't work?  Y at - it info on SSD drives will work with the laptop?  Thank you

Yes the DV6000 by DV6499 series with AMD processor is not able to support an SSD. The storage controller uses a SATA interface, but it is 'false' SATA running on a legacy IDE bus. No ahci, which is necessary for the operation of the SSD. That's why we put Windows XP on them without any special driver tips during installation.

Hello, I just want to ask if my office compatitble with graphics PowerColor Radeon HD 6450?

Yes. The 6450 has low power requirements and in fact I have one installed in my Vostro 220 s Slim Tower, which has a power supply even lower than that of your mid-turn.

For what it's worth, I had a 6450 working in a mini-ITX with 220-watt power supply. I had no problems with stability.

The power supply could be good, it is best to test with a unit of work "known."

My thoughts are, interestingly, spend the money on a 9 +-system years?

    But you can buy a motherboard Dell refurbished/used OEM for $24.99 + S & H from here:

The WDC 1 TB SATA2 hard drive shown in your link will be fine.

You'll need four Dell Hard Drive mounting screw [p/n WN322], they can be purchased from spare parts, Dell, HERE the ADMIN NOTE: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

  • Dell Latitude e5440 - Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD not recognized

I bought a new 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD for my Dell Latitude e5440 (running Windows 7 Pro).  The new player was not visible in 'Computer', so I downloaded, installed and ran the software Samsung magician.

Samsung software shows that the drive is present.  And there is a button "Validate" - I clicked on - and now: ' Drive Health Status: Good ' and ' serial number: true "appears.

However, the SSD is not visible when I double-click on computer and the Samsung software States:

    a. "AHCI Mode. Disabled (IDE or RAID).  AHCI mode is necessary for the best performance of the SSD. »

    b. SATA Interface s. o. cannot detect SATA interface details.

    c. s. o. OS OS optimization is supported only for disks using an operating system drive.

Question 1: Activation of this AHCI mode will allow Windows to recognize the SSD?

    Question 2: How do I?

Question 3: Activate the AHCI mode "switch off" (logout) my HDD 2.5 "?  (I want to keep Windows 7 to 2.5 "HARD disk and install Windows 10 on the SSD to have a dual boot system, until I got used to Windows 10).

Inside of your battery compartment is a label with your license key Windows 7 OEM on it.  Photograph it.

Download and prepare a USB key with a copy of Windows 10 TH2 Pro.

Remove the disk 2.5 "and connect the new drive mSATA.

Boot the system to the USB key.  10 Windows Installer should be of the presence of the DSS and will allow you to do the installation of Windows 10 - which in turn is almost certainly going to install the network driver suitable for your system without the need to add anything else.

USE your 7 product key when prompted and you should be all set.

Once this is done, you can reconnect the disk 2.5 "If you want to do - but remember that 10 installation is done separately from the 2.5 disk".

Two * beeps * indicate a problem of memory, first try to open the case and remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference, troubleshooting procedures more can be found in the Vostro 200 Mini Tower Troubleshooter HERE. • Upgrade processor or motherboard on Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower

I have a Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower, and the vehicle currently has Intel Pentium E6500 processor. I would like to move on to something better, because my current processor does not meet the minimum requirements of some games I want to play. I was wondering what processor I could update? I know that the new processor has to adapt to the taking of the motherboard, but I don't know how to find out what socket has my current motherboard, or even what motherboard it is.

I would also like to know, if I upgrade the processor, but instead get a new motherboard, can't I get a motherboard and plug and it will come with a new processor, or he will have to adapt my current processor? Upgrading the motherboard makes much difference to the speed of CPU if I don't actually pass the processor?

I am running Windows SP3 & DirectX 11, with 4 GB of RAM, and I also have an ATI Radeon 5670 HD graphics card and a power of 300W.

I have to get a new power supply if I upgraded the motherboard or processor?

    Lonetrapper

This is false, as a greater power supply and can be installed.

Generic standard ATX power supplies, with a 24-pin or 20 + power connector 4 - pin main motherboard, with or without the on/off switch, would be compatible with the Vostro 220 Mini-Tower.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Need a power supply with four SATA power connectors.
