Deselect the program to open a file

I left the tick inadvertently in the "always use this program" when you try to open a file that is not compatible with my computer. How can I change this?

You do not specify a variant of Windows, so you it does not work.

XP Pro, SP3:

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Click on the Tools menu
  3. Click Folder Options...
  4. Click the File Types tab
  5. Scroll down to the type of file extension that you need to change
  6. Click the point
  7. For "Opens with" click the button change
  8. Choose which program you want to open with
  9. Click on the Ok button
  10. Click the apply
  11. Click on the Ok button

  • Windows cannot find the program to open the exe file

I did the windows repair option by restarting then pressed f8 to get to come repair options. I did it to try to remove a number of problems of virus on my laptop. It seems that it has solved the problem, but now when I try to access one of my desktop icon shortcuts it indicates that windows cannot find the program to open the exe file. She does it with every shortcut. I can access the location of the program and then select open with and it will be opened in this way, but there is not and I have to select each time. Another option that works is a right-click on the icon and selecting 'start' and who will run the program properly. Other than simply double-click the icons automatically no longer works since I did this repair.

Windows Startup Repair fixed my problem, but now my desktop icons not properly opens with double-click

  • Definition of Photoshop CC 2014 as my "default program" to open JPEG files in Windows 7

I just installed Photoshop CC 2014 on my Windows 7 computer. I put Photoshop as my "default program" to open JPEG files. Now when I double-click a JPEG, Photoshop CC will launch instead of 2014 CC Photoshop. I noticed that the executable files for all versions of Photoshop are "Photoshop.exe" (no wonder that windows merges). If I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to something like "Photoshop2014.exe" then Windows will allow me to choose the program as my "default program" to open a JPEG file, however it is therefore impossible for me to open the files in Lightroom. Lightroom to Photoshop CC will default.

I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to "Photoshop.exe" and renamed all the executable files for my older versions of Photoshop. It still does not work.

This is a Registry fix for Win7 machines for the file association problem.

    This from TinusHDCA user:

I installed Photoshop CS6, then found CS5 was always there. I thought, Hey, I don't have CS5, so I uninstalled CS5. then I discovered that Photoshop was no longer available in "Open with", when right clicking on an image...

I went into the registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command, and changed (by default) of "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1' to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1' (so changed CS5 to CS6) - and now I see "Adobe Photoshop CS6" in my list 'Open with' when right-clicking on an image...

  • How can I configure Adobe Flash Player as default program to open SWF files?

    Overview of basic

I have this work very well to my laptop at home, but I need this working for school projects.

Whenever I want to open a SWF file at home, I just double click it and open it in Adobe Flash Player (Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22) and I have no problem!

However, when I'm at school I have to run in Internet Explorer, the file SWF, Adobe Flash Player IS installed, but the SWF files are opened directly, they are opened in Internet Explorer.

    At home

If I right click on a SWF file at home and select 'Open with', and then "choose default program...". ", Adobe Flash Player is already there under the name" Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22 ", so I can select the default value. (On my laptop at home)

    At the school

In school, so go to "Open with", then "choose default program... ", Adobe Flash Player IS NOT there, only Internet Explorer and other programs in the box of other programs. (On my laptop to school)

    Question

How can I assign Adobe Flash Player as default program to open SWF files (on my laptop to school)? If I select "Browse...". "and go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash there is no file with a description of" Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22 ", is the file for the program located somewhere else, or I'm just not properly looked into the record?

I really need these files open in Adobe Flash Player directly and not in Internet Explorer (I know that you can set the view to 100% and do it properly sized)

    Thanks to all who help!
-Charlie! (Yes I know, that I need not write this in a forum)

The standard Flash Player is a browser add-on and not a standalone player.  So what in fact opens when you open a SWF file at home?  Flash Player projector?

If so, you must also download in your school, to http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html, then make the file association.

  • [SOLVED] - Thunderbird constantly crashing, especially when you use Add Ons Manager, but sometimes just at the point where the program remained open.

    Hello

I used Thunderbird earlier today, when the power is in my neighborhood. Given that the power was restored Thunderbird has been crashing early and often. I can't get the program to open unless I have rename or delete the folder "extensions" in ~\Library\Thunderbird\Profiles\ < profile name >

It will fail immediately if I go to tools-> Addons. Finally it will crash just sitting just opened in the background. I have attached the accident below report. I'm on OSX 10.10.1

I tried to remove and reinstall Thunderbird (to both the current and previous version)
    I have tried repairing permissions
I tried to use Time Machine to restore the entire profile folder from before the failure.

Any suggestions? I use Thunderbird for years and I'm very uncomfortable with it, but he might switch to the mailbox if I can't solve this problem.

my pc CPU fan runs very strongly & the processor running at 100% for all the programs I opened. DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS A VIRUS IN THE PC WAS WORKING FINE A FEW DAYS AGO. How can I solve this issue?

    Hello

You did changes to the computer before this problem?

Step 1: Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

    Reference:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Step 2: Also, look for error messages in the event viewer. If you find error messages after return the exact error message so that we can help you better.

So I did it by clicking on the internet window explore. now all the progress or files on my desktop changed for symbol (e) of the exploring on them and I can't open them. I don't know how to get it back. Can someone help me?

    Hello

I would like to know the operating system you work with.

Method 1) when you run an .exe on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer file, the file can start another program

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950505

Method 2) in case if it does not help, you must change the associated file. To change the file association for a specific file, you must first display the properties of the file.

    1. You can view the properties of a file by selecting the file and choosing 'Properties' in the file menu. Or you can simply right-click on the file and select "Properties" from the context menu that appears.
    1. To change this file association, click the button change.
    1. You are given a list of recommended programs to open the file, as well as several other programs on your computer. The recommended programs are programs that Windows knows is going to be able to open the current file type. For this reason, choose a program from the list of recommended programs is a good idea. You can choose a program from the list of other programs, but the file cannot open.
    1. You can change this program opens all documents of a certain type of file, and then click the checkbox "Always use the selected program to open this type of file."
    1. Click OK

  • I can not open JPEG files. When I try to make my computer goes to the word and gives me strings of unreadable code. How can I correct the problem and open JPEG files?

Cannot open JPEG files. Computer to the word when attempted and gives the unreadable code strings. Corrective action?

The file association seems to be incorrect.  To rememdy this...

Right-click on any jpeg and select 'Open with' in the menu.

From there, you should have several options, select Windows Picture Veiwer or anything that makes sense on your pc.

If it opens correctly, close it, and then right-click again.

Rather than choose the same program, at the bottom you should see "Choose program" click on it and select the application that worked, then check the box that says "always use the program selected to reopen this file type."

OK out of there and you should be good to go.
