Desktop Pavilion Elite e9240f update my current H-RS880-Μatx motherboard

I've been slowly upgrading this desktop computer.

I thought it was the safest way for a novice to replace and not to build a new.

The motherboard is not the integrated graphics card.

Hello

A new motherboard verses a new PC is an interesting question.  Develops technology in increments of best financially or is it better to just take the plunge?  Advanced technology has always been more expensive for early adopters.

Just replace the motherboard involves hardware, license the software in some cases and labor costs. How long this choice will extend the useful life of the technology you use? For example, if the new motherboard is leading edge, then you could spread the costs for adding new technologies to your own model of life of technology.  No matter what you do, it sometimes becomes a viscous circle of technology.  Don't you think that manufacturers use the obsolescence in their business model?

If you were running a business, you may want to consider the initial cost is amortized over an expected useful life the time (36 months?), then add in the trade in value or resale value to cross the real cost of xx months.

Back to your original question. Depends on components that can be transferred to the new motherboard and how long they will last before having to replace them.  Building a PC can be more expensive, and then buy a new PC, because manufacturers use the "scale of economies" to produce the same PC at a lower cost. If you're a tech enthusiast, then costs don't matter really that much.  You need to replace a "go faster goodie" with another on your calendar and tithe on.

    Hello

Disconnect the PC and press and hold power for 30 seconds. Remove and replace the battery CMOS. It's a $4 item. Now let's see what happens. If no joy, then try the steps above once again.

If your PC support has been changed or modified then put it back in its original state.

  • Desktop Pavilion Elite 137c: SATA Interface for adding an SSD

How will I know what SATA (1, 2 or 3) that supports my Pavilion Elite 137c. I want to add an SSD that says he uses a SATA-3 interface.

    You are the very welcome.

I think it'll do the trick.

I added a 330 Intel SSD SATA III in my HP Elitebook 6930p business book, which has the Mobile Intel 4 series chipset, also SATA II controllers, and subjectively, it makes a very nice improvement upon startup and access time.

I subjectively, because I have not run before and after calibration of performance tests.

The mechanical hard drive was a high-end drive for laptop Western Digital 7 200 rpm, not a reader laptop slow poke 5 400 rpm.   I had no problem saying that the high-performance SSD.

If you put any credibility in the Windows experience index scores, the mechanical hard drive had the score 5.9 max, that you can get with a mechanical hard drive and SSD hostage up to 7.6.

    Hello

The NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB DDR5 (if you can find one) or the NVIDIA GT 440 1 GB DDR5 would be a good choice.

Review the performance of NVIDIA specifications. Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

  • HP Pavilion Elite m951of: update the BIOS

My computer BIOS is American Megatrends, Inc. 5.35 12/16/08. I want to run a program that requires a virtual machine. It seems that my BIOS is virtualization support nt. It seems that my BIOS may not be updated to support virtualization. My understanding of this is correct? If this is the case, is there a workaround?

Please see this document from HP called 'BIOS for motherboard Asus IPIBL - LB Benicia settings'. Scroll down to the section titled "The Power menu settings" for the location of this option in the BIOS. To enable in BIOS, select the "Power" tab and change "Virtualization technology" from "Disabled" to "enabled."

BUT according to the specifications of your system, the processor, a Q8200 does NOT support virtualization. You must upgrade to a processor which, according to the specifications of your system is compatible with support virtualization as the Q9xxx series. Please see this page "upgrade processor information".

  • Pavilion Elite e9240f: selection of replacement HD

I'm not clear on the issue of HD interface.  E9240f specifications I found do not tell that I need or that you should prefer.  I have a Toshiba 1 TB SCSI drive now, but it sounds horrible, and I want to replace it with another 1 TB HD.  SATA is not serious?  I do not change the wiring inside to take SCSI that is there now.

Called the SATA hard drive interface.  Your system has the ability to SATA 3GBs.  With your WIN7 SP1 operating system, it's OK to install a hard drive to SATA 6GBs. I suggest you a WD or a Seagate 1 TB SATA 6 GB Advanced Format drive.  It is fully compatible with your system.  WD and Seagate offer a free program called Wizard disk clones your existing system. Here is a link for Seagate program.

  • Pavilion Elite e9240f: remove a non-existent program

When I open Control Panel > programs and features, the programs include a program that apparently isn't on my computer.  'S called it Internet Explorer Toolbar 4.9 by Sweetpacks. I can't uninstall it; the uninstall process says that it can't find it.  Part of the given info mentions an .msi file that is involved, but I can't find this file, either.  I can't find the registry entries that mention this file or program.  I am convinced that the toolbar is not really on my PC, but how do I get rid of the entry of the control panel that he mentions?

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

Sweetpacks is a security risk and privacy / adware.

Please, read the instructions for deletion here > https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-sweetpacks-toolbar/

    AdwCleaner should do the trick.

I would like to know if it works.

  • Pavilion Elite NY554AA: Multimedia player of optics on Pavilion Elite e9240f

Anyone know where I can find a comparable DVD player to replace one that came with my computer?  If it helps the reader is labeled "Compact Disc - Rewritable (Ultra Speed) LightScribe DVD Multi Recorder RDL RW DVD + R DL."

From what I could find on this model number - it indicates that he came with a BluRay player and SuperMulti DVD burner with LightScribe technology.  Assuming that the drive mentioned in the post is the second, it would be just a matter of finding a DVD/CD player that responds to your price range.  Readers of this nature are reasonable most on any place in the United States.  Just an example

The lightscribe function is especially if you used in the past, but above all not necessary.

  • Office Pavilion Elite e9220y: name of the Internet access when you hover over said tskbr network 5. is that HP name or co cable. ?

    Hello

I have a desktop Pavilion Elite e9220y Home Premium; Win 7; 64-bit computer.

I'm wired; but have wireless for other things (Kindle, etc..)

When I open internet access in the bar of tasks and under the "wireless network connection", I see MY connection (and the name I gave my connection) and 5 solid green bars (no problem).

Above this section, there is an article with a picture of a House (provided by HP, I'm sure), and he says:

    ' Currently logged on:

and just below it says: (to the right of the photo of the House) network 5

and just below it says: internet access

That's all it lists the wireless network connection with my name and the names of other connections in the district.

    My question:

    the name "network 5"?

HP says it is my cable provider; my cable provider says it's at HP.

    This can be changed?

    Thank you!

    Hello Denise,.

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I understand that you have a problem with wireless networks.

Windows will think it's in a new network whenever it detects a new router. If you have changed your router or the router configuration. Windows creates a new network. But do not worry.

If you don't want the name of the connection to be listed under active connection, follow the steps.

    (1) open the "Control Panel".

    (2) select and open "network and sharing Center."

    (3) click on the ' icon "(une icône de la maison pour moi) less 'show your active networks'.". " This will open the dialogue "set network properties." Here, you can rename a network connection or a change as the network connection icon.

    4) click on "Merge or delete network locations" to view the list of network connections that are stored. You can merge or remove connections

Let me know if it helps.

    Have a great day!

  • Pavilion Elite HPE-170 t - Wi - Fi adapter with antenna?

I would like to connect to a desktop Pavilion Elite to a local network. The router is a Linksys EA3500 (802.11n technology). The distance between the router and the wireless adapter on the desktop will be about 30 feet with walls between the two.

The office doesn't have an outdoor antenna. When I checked for network adapters, I found this: Realtek RTL8168 / 811D Family PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).

I use the computer for HD, movies, not for games. Should I buy a Wi - Fi adapter? And if so, which one of these adapters Linksys would give me better performance?

    Hello:

I have the AE3000 on two of my HP business offices.

It has good reception and never had a problem with either of the units.

    I have a 2-story house with a finished basement.

My Linksys EA 4500 router is on the second floor.

One of my desltop of PC's in the basement.  The AE3000 on it, you get 4 bars of reception on the 5 GHz band and 5 bars on the 2.4 GHz band.

Connection speed is 324 Mbit/s (out of 450) on my PC of basement on the 5 GHz band.

Connection speed is 216.5 Mbps on bandwidth 2.4 GHz because I have this band the blended value that allows (wireless B and G) to connect legacy devices.

It works fine on W7 x 64 and x 64 W8.1 (using the drivers W7 on the CD).

It also comes with a 3' USB cable attached to a docking station so that you can position the camera somewhere for better reception.
