Details on the logical read in oracle

The difference between logical and physical read in oracle is that in the case of physical read data block is read from the data located on the disk files as in the case of logical read data block is read from buffer cache already present it... is the concept of right or need more refinement...

You are right. A physical read from disk, a logical reading is in the cache.

I would also like to add that some people look at wrong only physical reads. I had to set a lot of queries that have carried out a number of face of logical reads. Logical reads are still work. A query that is running 1 million logical reads to return 100 lines is probably a request requiring adjustment.

See you soon,.

    Hello

Gets the buffer = number of times that a block was requested to buffer cache. A buffer always get request in a logical reading. Depending on whether or not a copy of the block is available in the buffer cache, a logical read may or may not involve a physical read. So 'buffer gets' and "logical reads" are essentially synonymous and are often used interchangeably.

Oracle is not a special "buffer of cancellation. Undo blocks are stored in rollback segments in UNDO tablespace and are managed in the same way data blocks are (they are even protected by redo). If get consistent requires the reading of UNDO tablespace, then the counters statistics will show that there is a more consistent get in your autotrace.

  • High logical reads with the INSERT statement

    Hello

I have an INSERT query that is having a very high reading statspack logical reads. I've seen go Asktom announcement that this is due to the index. Link: [http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:6643159615303]

Can you please help to explain exactly what Oracle do and why you should read so the e/s logic. It's the that oracle must read the structure of the index for all (bundle branch block + all blocks of sheet) for each insertion line?

    Thanks & appreciate the insight.

    Rgds
    Ung

Only 5 bound for first INSERTION and only 1 for the next INSERTION.

    This is false.

"db block ' is ALSO to the e/s logic." This is gets them in CURRENT mode. Oracle reads the Index blocks in the current mode to update the index blocks.

Your last statement is in direct contradiction with the previous paragraph

As Tom mentioned, oracle must change the index as well when records are inserted in > (or updated or deleted from) the table. This means oracle must first read the index blocks (in > compatibility mode (LIO) as well as in current mode) in addition to the blocks of the turntable when inserting new > records. So this must explain why LIOs are more when inserting in an indexed table from > inserting into a table not indexed.

    What is correct.

You can query the tables BNE_ATTRIBUTES, attribut2 is the name of the package.

    Select * from BNE_ATTRIBUTES

    where attribute1 as 'PROCEDURE '.

The attribute_code should be that of an integrator with a PO_ATT at the end.

For the use of integrator_code what follows

Select * from bne_integrators_vl where user_name as what you see on the screen.

  • Delete the Message to save Oracle Forms in a block of master / detail

    Afternoon and Happy Friday people.

    I use Oracle form 6i.

I have a master-detail block in my form. They both have several records. When I make changes to the block of retail and I navigates to another record of the block Master, he asks me "do you want to save the changes that you have made?" Yes/No/Cancel options. This is the message embedded in Oracle and not our custom save the message. I also noticed that when I say 'Yes' to this message, it does not in the trigger key - Commit who defeated the purpose of having the trigger key validation.

Now, this message is coming due to a relationship of the master / detail? Also, what trigger I would seek to trap this message?

Finally, I also noticed that this message (oracle save message) appears after our own custom message when I said 'No' to our personalized Message to register.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering why forms brings the Message of the Oracle of inbulit when I'm sailing up to recording the Master block next

    The retail block must be erased when you navigate to another master to "make room" for the details of this new form of Basic. So, if there are changes in the retail block, forms asking the user what should happen with the changes. If you want to manage this situation yourself, put your own code in the WE-CLEAR-DETAIL-trigger before the call to CLEAR_ALL_MASTER_DETAILS;

I load this XML data file into a single table using an external Table. Could someone help me please with coding.

    Thank you

    Reva

Could you please help me how to insert my XML content into that.

Same as before, try a plain old INSERT:

    insert into xml_pecos

    values)

    XmlType (bfilename ('XML_DIR', "test.xml"), nls_charset_id ('AL32UTF8'))

    );

But you'll probably hit the same limitation as with the binary XMLType table.

In this case, you can use FTP to load the file as a resource in the XML DB repository.

If the XML schema has been registered with the hierarchy enabled then the file will be automatically inserted into the table.

Could you post the exact statement that you used to save the scheme?

In the meantime, you can also read this article, I did a few years ago, it covers the XML DB features that may be useful here, including details on how to load the file via FTP:

    Hello

I think that your CPU is overloaded by your stress tests. You have one VCPU with 2 wires (2 LCPU), right? And the load average is greater than one. You have time DB which is not counted in (CPU time + wait events) and which comes no doubt from time spent in the runqueue.

    > Oracle recovery logs is not properly configured on this server, as in "Top 5 events of waiting", there are 2 for oder

It is an error in statspack for show "log file parallel write here." This moment is historical and is included in 'log file sync '. And I don't think you have to redo misconfiguration. Waiting for 1ms to commit is ok. In OLTP you should have more than one validation in a user interaction so that the user don't worry not about 1 m in batch mode, unless you commit to each row, 1 DC to commit should not increase the total execution time.

The fact that you have a lot of line lock (enq: TX - line lock conflict) but very little time (on average 97 ms) is probably a sign that testers are running simultaneously a charge affecting the same data. Their set of test data is perhaps too simple and short. An example: when stress tests of an order entry system if you run 1000 concurrent sessions, ordering the same product to the same customer, you can get this kind of symptoms, but the test we unrealistic.

It's a high activity of 2000 calls per second, 52 transactions per second, user. But you also have low average active sessions, so the report probably covers a period of non-uniform activity, which makes the averages without meaning.

So note to tell about the events of waiting here. But we don't have any info about 39% of DB time devoted to the CPU which is where something can be improved.

    Kind regards

    Franck.

  • Too many logical reads on HZ_GEOGRAPHIES

    Hello

I see the below huge logical reads on the HZ_GEOGRAPHIES table. Can you please suggest me what I should look into things.

We use Apps 12.0.4 & Database 10 g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bi and RMC module running.

It is an architecture of two nodes with db running on a node and the CP, FORMS, admin, web on the other node.
The db node is to have 4 processors and 8 GB of RAM, which I suppose is very less and must be upgraded.

Owner Tablespace name object name subobject of obj. logic type bed % Total

Please provide your inputs and controls what I should do to get this application works well.

    Atif,

If the links did not help, so please save a SR (which you mentioned above), and see if Oracle support would help.

  • FTPAdapter - name of the logical directory - file not moved to the directory of archives

I created a simple ftp service to read the file from the incoming remote directory and archive it in a directory 'archive' by using logical directories. I have provided input and archiving directories. The process reads the file in the directory entry, but don't move archives directory. In the opmn logs I saw the following message

File Adapter::Outbound > because the file could not be copied into the directory of archive specified, file: CUST__20081113002951.xml is copied to a directory to archive by default: /apps/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/j2ee/home/fileftp/defaultArchive/

I checked one) directory permission - this is the users ftp directory, so there all the rwxrxrx bits set - I even tried rwxrwxrwx, but same problem
    (b) there is enough space in the box of
    (c) I can manually move the files to the same user.

Second, the files in the directories of archive by default are created as root. Do not know why. Our server is running as user 'oracle '.

    We are on 10.1.3.4

no idea how to solve this?

    Published by: user9514124 on November 13, 2008 17:27

Thanks for the suggestions people, I was able to solve the problem by including UseRemoteArchive = 'true' attribute in the WSDL of FTP adapter in the element. I guess I should be clear that I was trying to check in remotely on the FTP server.

    Thank you
