Determine what patches are installed

What is the fastest way to determine if the ESX patches are installed?

For example:

I need to find out if these patches are installed:
ESX400-201101405-SG, ESX400-201101404-SG, ESX400-201101402-SG

Can it be done in vCenter Server or PowerCLI or is CLI / esxupdate required?

If it's ESX you can connect to the service console and do an esxupdate query

How will I know what patch to install? It is said that incorrect can harm my system, but there are three options and no indicator of which is necessary for my specific problem.

    Thank you

    you mean x 86, x 64 or ia64?

If you use a 32-bit Windows, version asks the x 86. If you use a x 64 64-bit Windows application version.

  • How to determine what workspaces are open

We currently do some Git automatisms in which developer all the working files will be updated automatically. However, the automation script should ignore a developer folder if CVI is open this folder. For example, suppose that there are three folders.

    • c:\dev1\myproj.prj
    • c:\dev2\myproj.prj
    • c:\dev3\myproj.prj

If dev2 has opened myproj.prj, the script will skip this file. The way we tried to determine whether a particular project is open is as follows:

    1. determine if the ICB process runs.

    2. If so, obtain the title of the window of the CVI.

To this end, we have written a C++ Win32 utility. As the title indicates the path of the complete workspace, this information was sufficient. But recently, we have noticed that, if the path is too long, CVI shortened it (for example: c:\... \folder\myproj.prj). At the same time, if I move the mouse over the title bar area, CVI displays a ToolTip with the full path.

So I was wondering if there is a way I can read the tool tip string? Suggestions on this approach in another way are also welcome.

You can use ActiveX automation to connect to an instance of the CVI delivery to find out what the current project.

Once you determine that an instance of the CVI is running, you can then call CVI_ActiveApp If connect (look at the samples\activex\cvi\build.prj if you are not familiar with ActiveX automattion). The one caveat, it is difficult to control which instance of CVI will be used by CVI_ActiveApp, where more than one is running. But you can still use the CVI_AppGetCVIProcessId function to confirm that you have the right one (whatever that 'right' means, in this case).

Once you have a connection, you can use CVI_AppGetCurrentProject.

  • How do I determine what update is installed on ESX

How can you know which version of the update is installed on an ESX host. All I can see is 3.5.0,153875.

Also why is it updated 1,2 3 etc. are not visible via the Update Manager. I'm I missed something?

the quick and dirty solution is to google the build number. 153875 is updated 4

And you can check it on the download page of the patch on vmware.com:

    http://support.VMware.com/selfsupport/download/

And a link to 3.5 update 4, specifically:

  • How can I determine which commands are associated with private 2-14

I don't want to create command authorization sets just used a private level. I can't determine what commands are assigned to what level priv?

By default, there are three levels of command on the router:

privilege level 0 — includes orders to disable, enable, exit, help and logout.

privilege level 1 - Normal level on Telnet; includes all commands on the router user level > prompt.

privilege level 15 - includes all orders enable-level at the router prompt #.

Orders at level 2-14 are empty by default, BUT you can always access all orders at your level and below, so if you are level 4 you have access to the commands at levels 0 and 1

  • Determine what are the cards OR are installed on a computer using Labview

    Hello people,

I hope that it is a matter appropriate for this forum.

Is there a way to programmatically determine the cards OR are installed in a computer using Labview?  We have a limited number of test for material Exchange computers sometimes.  I would like to write a collection of Labview applications to know what hardware is installed and then perform some configuration based on the hardware settings.

    Best regards

    Hello HowardTeten,

There's a freeware app called Magic Jelly Bean http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ it is a keyfinder. Download and run that and it will tell you which product key you use. All you need to do is then check to the back of the case of Windows to see which matches.
