• Versions of the RPD OBIEE

  Hi all

  I'm new to OBIEE. My question is maybe asimple one, but I want to know. As we know when I save the RPD, it creates versions of the RPD even by numbering it. Example if I saved the RPD as XYZ and deployed it and if I want to make changes, I'll open the RPD in offline mode and to make changes and to deploy it and still a new version is created the same RPD. Now I have a RPD even 40 versions, which can do to avoid this problem. I have just remove older versions of the current SPR and only keep the new versions? Please guide

  If you change your SPR in online mode, it will not create a new version, because you don't need to deploy.

  You can of course remove older versions, only the last is used because it is deployed, there is no reference left to all earlier versions, they simply remain in the same folder but OBIEE is not aware that they are there.

  If you really 40 almost similar versions, it is because you are not only off line work, then maybe it's time to start practicing online development.

  You do the 'big' work offline changes to 'big' in offline mode, but you can complete online: it's fast, without making + reboot required and no new version is created on disk.

• number of rows in table is not updated in RPD obiee 11.1.1.9?

  As you say, I checked the side DB. I am using Toad. while I see the table & script data in abrowser schem, I get the error message like "access violation at address 01c688df in module toad.exe" on the opening of the browser (73231) editor or contours. to do this, I installed the new version of Toad .so I did nt get any errors at the level of the RPD. I get the number of rows updated successfully.

• Question of RPD OBIEE 12 c

  Gurus,

  My question is perhaps stupid please help.

  I installed OBIEE 12 c. I was able to connect to oracle and create a new RPD. When I try to open it in online mode its asking about a configuration of ODBC driver. I tried to set up the connection to the OBIEE server for the local host. It shows 4 instances OBI OBI SERVER 1 2 and 3. Which should I use and what is the purpose of having these in there?

  Do you have an example of RPD content as we get for 11g - sampleapp. If it doesn't there please help me find a way to connect to my system. If this isn't the case, please correct me. Thank you.

  You must create a new system DSN to connect to the RPD in online mode.

  1. go in ODBC data sources.

  2. create a new system DSN

  3. Add the server of Oracle's BI.

  4 specify the name and the Server (hostname), and then click Next (http://hostname:9502/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome).

  5. Please provide the connection information and the port 9514 (default).

  6. click on finish.

  You should now be able to connect the RPD in online mode. It will be useful.

  I'm starting to wondering about how development multiuser (MUD) will work in 12 c.

  If I understand correctly it is just as good. bad (delete) as it was in 11g.

• updating automated metadata Essbase in RPD OBIEE file?

  Hello

  Anyone know how it is possible to update the physical layer of the RPD file meta data? Bottom line is that we have integrated several essbase cubes into OBIEE. One of the cube is updated on a daily basis and all levels generated in some dimensions can change daily. The idea is to reimport the essbase (physical layer, activities and presentation) metadata automatically after calculation of cube essbase has been successfully completed. But I found no documentation how to automate administration tool.

  So any advice would be great.

  If you set your "Type of hierarchy" in the physical layer to the 'value' it will work automatically as a child without any table (Essbase is already working with parent-child relationships, so no need for any additional table).

• Rename columns RPD OBIEE 11 g report reflects

  I've created a report and everything works fine, but after that I had an obligation to change the names of 10 columns to the RPD. I changed in the MDB layer and reflected in the presentation layer. How can I reflect the change in the report for multi-column renamed intelligently without making a manually?

  Search / replace in Catalog Manager

  Check everything you do and do a first backup because it is common for the first time, you try a search / replace all simply broken your analysis because it hurts...

  And once done remove the layer the alias in the presentation, in this way you will easily discover if you forgot 1 analysis such that it will not work anymore (or deploy web SampleApp scripts chat analysis make this kind of checks).

• Problem of the Essbase hierarchy in the physical layer of RPD (OBIEE 11 g).

  I have a scenario that follows

  

  
  In the screenshot above, we are not able to get the data accounts, Gen1 and Gen2, levels of accounts (taking a measure). We get level 3. Gen1, accounts which the Member 'Accounts' and Gen2 level, accounts Member "ALL_ACCOUNTS". When I combine it with measure only displaying not of any value (possibly summary data). Please let me know/possible error correction must be done as soon as possible.

  Are OK, if you're new to essbase you sure that you are supposed to have values of measures in gen 1 and 2 of your account dimension?

  It is a common behavior to aggregate not always things to the top of the dimension if it does not make sense from a functional point of view.

  It does not shock me for not having values for members 'Accounts' and 'ALL_ACCOUNTS' because in general you can not always aggregate accounts together.

  You can also get the products OBIEE physical query (MDX) in the same way that you get any physical motion in OBIEE and run directly against Essbase (or ask support Essbase guys for this) and validate it returns nothing, and there is a problem in the application itself.

• Issue of modelling for the RPD OBIEE

  Today, I'm dealing with another matter which is; a domain with no fact tables. There are many tables and there is no fact!

  When I joined the dimension as; and create an analysis using 3 Dim, I get the error like;

  In fact no table exists at the level of detail required

  But the businessman wants to create a report that contains these three dimensions.

  Can you suggest me something please. What can I do?

  Physically, you should have 3 objects and 3 joins:

  1.) Dim3 what games roles as fact and dimension with joins in Dim3-> Dim1 and Dim3-> Dim2 to represent joins fact dimension (from course is to be dimensioned as usual). It will be the physical source to the Dim3 LTS of Fact - Dim3 and Dim-

  2.) Dim1 that will be source of th for the Dim - Dim1 LTS

  3.) Dim2 that will be source of th for the Dim - Dim2 LTS

  Logically, you will have 4 logical tables

  Sun - Dim1

  Sun - Dim2

  Sun - Dim3

  Fact - Dim3 relationships ranging from fact - Dim3 three-dimensional logic

  Now, we have an obligation to upgrade 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.5... For that we are palnning to install 11.1.1.5 on another machine and move the RPD
  and 11.1.1.3 to the new system catalog... It works perfectly or do we need to make changes...
  
  I've implemented it machine windows where KPIS work correctly but scorecards are throwing error Odbc...

• OBIEE performance problems

  I have 70 reports in about 10 dashboard. Each report take areound 2 min to display.
  I want to do tunning performance less than 30 seconds.
  I don't want to teach database design.
  What are the need of the analysis stage.

  Govind,

  Although you have already specified DO NOT to touch the DB. There are several other ways to refine the side reports OBIEE itself:

  (1) you can check your granularity of measures in reports and level measures created in RPD OBIEE utility of base.

  This will pick up your aggr tables and not detailed tables.

  (2) you can use the caching of the seeding options. Using ibot or command using NQCMD utility

  Using one of the above 2 methods, you can refine your reports and reduce the time of the request.

  Also, a side safer, just take the physical log SQL and run it directly on DB to see the time taken and check for plan explain it using a DBA.

• Not able to apply the filter on certain groups of OBIEE integrated with EBS

  We have integrated with EBS OBIEE. There are some pre configured in OBIEE RPD groups. These groups are all members of the Group GL safety rules. I applied the filter of some safety GL group business model... But are not filtering data for certain groups. For the rest of the groups it works fine.
  
  I applied after filter on table GL Business logical area. (VALUEOF (NQ_SESSION. ("" EBS_BUSINESS_AREA_FULL ") = 'X' OR Core. "Dim - GL business district '." "' Level 20 business code" = VALUEOF (NQ_SESSION. (("" EBS_BUSINESS_AREA "))
  
  But this filter does not work for the following groups
  (1) OBI Budget content Global Support
  OBI 2 overall content power user)
  
  While it works very well for the following groups
  (1) OBI UK broadcast finance.
  Director of finance 2) OBI UK broadcast.
  
  I'm new to EBS. If someone can explain how the EBS group are mapped with RPD OBIEE groups and how the security is implemneted then it will be a great help.

• Cannot rename the RPD files

  I want to replace the file RPD development with RPD production record. Here's what I did:
  
  1 make a copy of the current production RPD by clicking on "copy as" in the Administration of BI (repository).
  2 moved the copy to the folder of repository development.
  3 rename/remove current file from RPD. This is where I came across the problem. I always get 'cann't delete/rename, the program is used by somesone or program...'.
  
  I have to be BI admin to rename/delete the RPD? Nobody used the repository at the time.

• Are necessary logical hierarchies?

  Hi people,

  New to Oracle BI RPD after many years using Cognos.  I'm confused with logical hierarchies.  Are they necessary?  I modeled dimensionally my data in the form of a schema in Star and conceptually in a data model perspective, everything looks OK to me.

  Question:

  When I see my business in the answers, I see subfolders with any field.  I guess it could be not having all the defined hierarchies?

  Any idea is appreciated.

  To answer your original question on logic hierarchies-

  No, they are not mandatory. However, it is considered as a good practice in the RPD modeling and is useful for the global navigation, measures based on the level outside the actual hierarchical data (both level base and parent-child).

  Insofar the subfolder with no points, I think you're talking about presentation layer tables are empty - very probably you have not crept over all columns in logical of the MDB layer to the presentation layer.

  If you can include screenshots of the RPD and the area of subject of answers that could help to clarify this point.
