• Versions of the RPD OBIEE

  Hi all

  I'm new to OBIEE. My question is maybe asimple one, but I want to know. As we know when I save the RPD, it creates versions of the RPD even by numbering it. Example if I saved the RPD as XYZ and deployed it and if I want to make changes, I'll open the RPD in offline mode and to make changes and to deploy it and still a new version is created the same RPD. Now I have a RPD even 40 versions, which can do to avoid this problem. I have just remove older versions of the current SPR and only keep the new versions? Please guide

  If you change your SPR in online mode, it will not create a new version, because you don't need to deploy.

  You can of course remove older versions, only the last is used because it is deployed, there is no reference left to all earlier versions, they simply remain in the same folder but OBIEE is not aware that they are there.

  If you really 40 almost similar versions, it is because you are not only off line work, then maybe it's time to start practicing online development.

  You do the 'big' work offline changes to 'big' in offline mode, but you can complete online: it's fast, without making + reboot required and no new version is created on disk.

  As you say, I checked the side DB. I am using Toad. while I see the table & script data in abrowser schem, I get the error message like "access violation at address 01c688df in module toad.exe" on the opening of the browser (73231) editor or contours. to do this, I installed the new version of Toad .so I did nt get any errors at the level of the RPD. I get the number of rows updated successfully.

• Question of export OBIEE

  We were faced with the same problem and could solve it with the following steps (change your insatnceconfig):

  • "second line should look similar to the following: http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance ' xmlns="oracle.bi.presentation.services/config/v1.1 ">
  • Add at the end (before the closing of ServerInstance tag) following:

  When you have completed these steps, restart your PS (EM or with opmnctl) and check if it works.

• updating automated metadata Essbase in RPD OBIEE file?

  Hello

  Anyone know how it is possible to update the physical layer of the RPD file meta data? Bottom line is that we have integrated several essbase cubes into OBIEE. One of the cube is updated on a daily basis and all levels generated in some dimensions can change daily. The idea is to reimport the essbase (physical layer, activities and presentation) metadata automatically after calculation of cube essbase has been successfully completed. But I found no documentation how to automate administration tool.

  So any advice would be great.

  If you set your "Type of hierarchy" in the physical layer to the 'value' it will work automatically as a child without any table (Essbase is already working with parent-child relationships, so no need for any additional table).

• The question of integration OBIEE & MapViewer

  Hi all

  A few days I tried to integrate OBIEE with mapviewer by some different method. After a lot of configuration process, like you created new schema on db, imported data space sample inside and has defined a new source of data, in mapviewer administration console, I have a main issue at this time.

  I just tested whether mapviewer was executed, and he was seen ok in the url, http://host_name:9704 / mapviewer

  So, how can I embed this map on page obiee analytical?

  When I tried to import map layers/images in OBIEE 11 g Analytics / administration/management map data page, I get an error like this "cannot communicate with Oracle FMW Server mapviewer.

  1. with IE, it sometimes gives this kind of question, please use latest Mozilla.

  Try first with step 1 only.

  2. If in Mozilla, it also gives the same message - you need some instanceconfig.xml entries.

• Question of repository OBIEE 10 G

  Hi, I'm really new to OBIEE 10 G. Recently, I asked two questions and got great answers, thanks. Now, here's a new.

  I have branch, time, product, and Sales of paintings in the physical layer. Branch, the time and the products are the dimensions and have a relationship several ship sales.

  I built models and mapped the relationship (model of Business and physical diagram). And built the display boards.

  Now because sales are by long branch, (day) and products (product not), what ever size I drag in the responses, the result will be there branch, the time (day) and product (not).

  For example, if I drag the branch and sales, I want to see the branch sales, but instead, I still see sales by long branch (day) and products (not produced).

  I don't know y at - it something I should be doing in the repository? Especially in the MDB. I have the MDB sales as done and branch, time, produced as dimensions. I didn't build hierarchies because I'm not sure what the hierarchy.

  Thanks for the reply. Finally, I found that it is because I did not in place the aggregation for the fact table columns. It's 'None' by default. I've changed the 'Sum' and problem solved. The hierarchy is irrelevant because my case is very simple and there is only one level in each dimension. But I'll certainly have to build for real things and hierarchy levels. Thank you.

  Search / replace in Catalog Manager

  Check everything you do and do a first backup because it is common for the first time, you try a search / replace all simply broken your analysis because it hurts...

  And once done remove the layer the alias in the presentation, in this way you will easily discover if you forgot 1 analysis such that it will not work anymore (or deploy web SampleApp scripts chat analysis make this kind of checks).

• Problem of the Essbase hierarchy in the physical layer of RPD (OBIEE 11 g).

  In the screenshot above, we are not able to get the data accounts, Gen1 and Gen2, levels of accounts (taking a measure). We get level 3. Gen1, accounts which the Member 'Accounts' and Gen2 level, accounts Member "ALL_ACCOUNTS". When I combine it with measure only displaying not of any value (possibly summary data). Please let me know/possible error correction must be done as soon as possible.

  Are OK, if you're new to essbase you sure that you are supposed to have values of measures in gen 1 and 2 of your account dimension?

  It is a common behavior to aggregate not always things to the top of the dimension if it does not make sense from a functional point of view.

  It does not shock me for not having values for members 'Accounts' and 'ALL_ACCOUNTS' because in general you can not always aggregate accounts together.

  You can also get the products OBIEE physical query (MDX) in the same way that you get any physical motion in OBIEE and run directly against Essbase (or ask support Essbase guys for this) and validate it returns nothing, and there is a problem in the application itself.

  All are workinig fine, but when break through us year quarter, it will take at the level of the child. Yet once the level of the year presents hyperlink in the cumulative process.

  I have 11r2 Oracle under windows 7 Professional.
  
  I created the MDS and BIplatroem the remote repository.
  
  When installing OBIEE (bi_windows_x86_111150_32_) as an option of the company, it crashes.

• a few questions on RPD

  (1) how can we identify facts and dimensions in the physical layer?
  (2) when and why are we going to join complex layer MDB?
  (3) in the physical layer, we created the join FK and used used all tables in MDB layer. The join FK still exists in MDB layer.if or not the reaons?
  (I tried the 3rd questions in 2 of the schema is sh and other is scott.) When I tried on scott link FK is present in MDB layer but in HS there is no imean no link I created manually.)
  (4) I have 3 tables a, b, c. "a" is done. I have to use join between the tables. 'a' has 4 columns and 'b' has 5 columns. Now when I want to connect 'b' to 'a' i can find no common column name. But I want to connect 'a' and 'b '. In this case make for complex join?

   How can we identify facts and dimensions in physical layer? 
  

  A fact table is a table with measures. Measures should be defined in a logical fact; a column with an aggregation rule is a measure. Oracle BI Server includes any table in a repository which has many-to-one (n: 1) joins it is a fact table. Oracle BI Server uses the logical joins in the business model to identify a fact table.

  Dimension tables contain attributes that describe the business entities. For example, the customer name, region, address, country and so on.
  Dimension tables contain primary keys that identify each Member.

  Dimension tables are expected to store the columns that cannot be aggregated while fact tables are expected to store the columns that can be aggregated.

   When and why do we go for complex join in BMM layer? 
  

  When you use complex joins in the business layer then they really act as placeholders.
  They allow OBI server to decide on which are better joins define in the physical layer to satisfy the request.

  In physical layer we created FK join and used used all the tables into BMM layer.
  Does the FK join still exists in BMM layer.if yes or no any reaons? 
  

  No, we must also create FK join still in layer of MDB. If you select all the dimensions and fact tables, which are FK joined in the physical layer, and drag in the layer MDB
  and check the MDB chart for dimensions and facts. you will find the relationship, if you drag the single table at a time, you must manually create the join FK.

  Today, I'm dealing with another matter which is; a domain with no fact tables. There are many tables and there is no fact!

  When I joined the dimension as; and create an analysis using 3 Dim, I get the error like;

  In fact no table exists at the level of detail required

  But the businessman wants to create a report that contains these three dimensions.

  Can you suggest me something please. What can I do?

  Physically, you should have 3 objects and 3 joins:

  1.) Dim3 what games roles as fact and dimension with joins in Dim3-> Dim1 and Dim3-> Dim2 to represent joins fact dimension (from course is to be dimensioned as usual). It will be the physical source to the Dim3 LTS of Fact - Dim3 and Dim-

  2.) Dim1 that will be source of th for the Dim - Dim1 LTS

  3.) Dim2 that will be source of th for the Dim - Dim2 LTS

  Logically, you will have 4 logical tables

  Sun - Dim1

  Sun - Dim2

  Sun - Dim3

  Fact - Dim3 relationships ranging from fact - Dim3 three-dimensional logic
